Title: Mecha-Men
Post by: Auton on May 08, 2007, 10:45:57 AM
Just finished the first mecha-man figure. I went for a black / bronze colour scheme on this one.

Awesome! Just awesome!  :o  :o  :o

Iīm desperately trying to convince myself that they will look terrible in blue metallic, so that I wonīt have to buy a load for my evil machines army!!! Would look great for the "Butlerīs Jihad" setting I wanted to game...

Nice choice of colours there, looks good.

He's a sinister looking little machine isn't he?

Very nice. I was thinking of a similar color scheme.

What, no glowing sinister eyes? ;)

That scheme works suprisingly well, i can't wait till mine arrive.

I got to say I don't like it.  Maybe it would look better in person.  The problem I have is the figure is so cool that it deserves more color to bring out the detail.  I am thinking some type of non-metallic metal (NMM) paint scheme.  A gold NMM scheme would probably be perfect.

Gold NMM

For NMM gold use the following colours:
GW:
- Snakebite Leather
- Skull White
Foundry
- Lemon Shade
- Lemon Light.
If you only have GW paints you can use yellow mixed with Snakebite Leather instead of Lemon Shade and yellow mixed with White instead of Lemon light.

The picture shows where to place the colours.

Hi guys,
I have sent all your orders out so your Mechas should be smashing their way through your homes any day soon.

Mahon: The Mechas are 28mm scale but are little stocky fellows they fit in well with Dick Garrison Figures and of course the Captain Gamma figures.

As regards little red beady eyes: The Mecha-Men do indeed have such eyes, its just hard to make them glow so as to be soon fom the darkness of their cowl.

I have had some preview photos from Dr. Bob Olley in his genetics lab and the next two Proton Rangers will be out hopefully before the end of the month.

These will be Klug Pluton and Jek Starkiller. And I'm quite pleased with them even if I do say so myself.

Oops sorry...... I should have said the Mecha-Men and Captain Gamma are available now from me via my Email address.

I do have a website.....sort of. Its just a matter of attaching it to my Domain name and then then sticking it on its hosting space. ( Do I sound like I have any idea what I'm talking about?) :?

really nice although model could benefit from some more final highlights :) anyway I remember in one of old he-man (and the masters of the universe :P ) cartoons skeletor had a swarm of similar flying robots under his command; they had buzz-saws instead of "grabbers" but still similar ^^

OK so I went home and viewed this topic on my laptop computer.  The pictures look much better than they did on my work computer.  After viewing them from home the paint job is much better than I first thought.  Good job.  Still I think you could add some more detail, like adding glowing eyes and maybe a different color or two.  I still think the NMM method would really bring these guys to life.  Too bad I suck at the NMM method.

Hi guys
as I mentioned above, the colour scheme is just my own preference. I did ask Craig what the 'official' colour was and he said white (think stormtrooper) so I'll try and do one like that next.
I'll try and add red eyes to the next one but the 'sockets' are cut out on the figure so it isn't going to be easy..

Tri3, I know what you mean about nmm looking good although like you, I suck at it
Plus I paint my figures for gaming rather than display so can't afford the extra time needed to do it    :P

SACRILEGE! The Lead Adventurers do not ascribe to "official" colors. We're rebels. We do what we want!

Except Polynikes, he just paints things as historically accurate.. Him and his damn Osprey books

Damn straight, you bloody bare-bothered heathens!

I even started a topic on 1930s cigarettes on TMP when I was painting my merchant seamen for MIGHTY JOE KONG, as I wanted to know whether to paint  filters on them or not.

(But I also got into an argument with some fool who said the Tommy Guns were all wrong for the period of King Kong, and they just ruined it totally for him. So I'm not completely lost to the Lead Adventure ethos.)

Actually. I know who you argued with and for that, you will always be on my A list. Of course, Pete's also on the A list so I'm not sure what that means.  :)

I was wondering if he who he argued with was whom I was thinking. Gold star for you!

Actually............................... :)

Auton was correct when he mentioned my colour schemes: The Mecha-Men in my minds eye are white with red glowing eyes and mettallic arms and claws. ( Think stormtroopers)

Officers are black and bronze ( But Auton came up with this scheme himself)

Major Canis has an honour guard of Mecha-Men which are red.

I do love the idea of the gold scheme though.

THIS BEING SAID HOWEVER........................................

Please feel free to paint them sky blue heli-trobe if that is your wish. Or even tartan.
