Title: My BMG/other supers thread - new: SMG & other Supers p. 7
Post by: leonmallett on February 23, 2010, 02:52:47 PM: As you may have noticed, I am engaged in a personal challenge to paint one of everything from the Pulp City range. besides that I do have an extensive collection of other supers minis that I have painted over the years, some of which I have started rebasing recently.

This thread is a collection of my 'other' super minis.

The six main supers (plus the metlaist above) scale very nicely alongside Superfigs and particularly the Reaper-Chronoscope stuff, as do the competition winners minis (there are 3 of those). So there are 9 figures that scale nicely (including the shrinking mini).

Their civilians are just massive, however, about a full head taller than the supers. I'd also avoid the stretching guy as he is too spindly in my view.

Cheers Jim, and thanks for noticing the stripe. I have seen them done as a white pin-strip, but I went back to the source material (pun intended!) for my inspiration. :)

I couldn't say for sure about KM and Superfigs scaling, since I sold my painted SF collection a while ago. Sculpting wise they won't go IMHO, simply because KM sculpt more 'true-scale'. The KM minis may be generally taller too.

I was pretty pleased with the white and decided against pin-stripes which would have been too challenging for my skills.

Honestly I have never read any Hush comics, but I like his visual a hell of a lot and was aware of the character before the mini. :)

It was from What The? minis but I think the moulds were picked up by another company. :)

I think it will be interesting to see if it looks 'okay' but I will only field a full 'Animated' style crew or not at all simply because of aesthetics. Whether KM make that a possibility is a different matter....

I mix of base colour, dry brushing and highlighting for techniques. As for colours, I'll try and see what I can remember. :)
