The London Times. March 12th 1885.
Recent photos have now been released from those terrible events caused by the Martian invasion of southern england last year. While our defensive efforts around Woking proved unable to halt the Martian advance on London. Further north a crashed cylinder was able to be surrounded by a detachment of the 24th regiment of foot lead by Lt Bromhead and assisted by Colonel Shaftsbury. It appears this cylinder may have landed off course, since it did not come down in the usual " tri pattern" observed elsewhere in England.

***UPDATE***
Eureka has finished the molds and the Martians are now available. Check eureka miniatures www.eurekamin.com.au website for official release.

Me wants.
Very nice

Corporal Jones? 'They don't like it up 'em!'? Did he previously run around shouting 'Don't panic! Don't panic!'?
Lovely looking Martian by the way. Top job!
-
My God, that's grand! I love it!
Want one now :)
-
Very nice that can't wait to see the rest.
-
Thats a really nice design for a martian :-*
It (vaguely) reminds me of the Brain bug from the Starship Troopers movie.
-
Great looking Martian.
Something to consider adding to the 'must buy' list!
-
Fuzzy, I know it's probably something you've not arranged, but do you know if Fighting 15s will stock your range here in the UK as they do with Eureka's own products?
I'd love to get a few Martians ;D
Cheers,
Ian

Pretty cool, and fairly close to how I imagine them, although I'd say that the eyes are too big, and the tentacles are in the wrong place (described as being in two bunches of eight [IIRC] in the novel).
Looking at the rear view, however, I’d say that the back end is near perfect.
-
Another must have for the Imperial Zoo!

Bah, if you wanted to make it a H.G.Well's copy, it wouldn't be hard to convert!

I have to say, I did think about SST...
-
Very nice work. I could easily be tempted ....
-
I'm sure I'll need at least two of these. :P
-
Ah, the poor big sad-eyed tentacled thing being bullied by all those horrid redcoats ... lol
-
Thanks for the great comments!
I tried to follow Wells description as much as possible and decided against having all the tentacles bunched around the mouth as I think in the array I have them now they seem more likely to be able to move. I wanted to give the model a bit of a squidish feel but not too much.
I made the eyes large because I wanted to have fun painting the eyes. I also didn't want to anthropomorphosize the faces too much so they looked more as Wells described, " cold and unsympathetic". I can vagely remember the SST Brain Bug. I'll have to hire the DVD and see if I have subconsciously copied it :)
I will make the mold for the body this weekend and Eureka will be able to cast up the tentacles pretty quick so we can probably release the Martian before the Tripods so people can buy them.
You will probably be able to order the Martian through your local Eureka distributors. I have no idea at this stage how much these will cost.
I am also planning on doing a dead martian (maybe being eaten by dogs or crows!) and a Martian reproducing i.e. budding off a offspring as described in the book.
Watch this space or TMP for official release date.
Cheers
Fuzzy.

Excellent work.
Yet another reason I'll have to be placing an order with Eureka soon.
Thanks
Tom

It looks great, the way the tentacles are placced this model reminds me of the Mickey Mouse story where they adapt War of the Worlds, it is in an old comic book I have at my fathers place.
In the Mickey Mouse version Earthlings and Martians ends up becoming friends after the Martians get a cold lol

Here is the picture of the SST brain bug.
Not really like my Martian so I can relax now ;)

Nice… interesting and tempting too! Should I start considering VSF as a new "period" to paint figures for? ::)

What a silly question! ::)
Of course you should. In fact you should already be researching and putting an order or two together ;)
-
Yeah you should, it's great fun once you get started. So many ideas!
That's a really nicelypainted brain bug too! They were a pig to put together, I certainly hope this martian isn't...
I like the idea of a dead martian being picked at by crows. Would make some good scenery... :D

Or a nice objective marker. Steal/reclaim the Martian's brain to extract/preserve all that important information stored in it.
-
Just listened to the first half of Jeff Wayne's war of the worlds whilst painting.
I am very inspired now...
RELEASE IT! NOW! :D
-
I dropped off the tentacles at Eureka yesterday for them to cast. They should have some cast up by the end of the week.
Yesterday I also made the mold for the resin body, so I will start casting tomorrow.
I will then have to assemble one and paint it up nice and purdy and then we can put it on the Eureka website to release it.
So probably two weeks at the most :)
Cheers
Neil

Wow, that's good!
When will fighting 15s see them? :D

Looks great, I'm looking forward to it's release.
So I can paint some!!! :)
-
Any idea when Fighting 15s will have these in the UK?
-
Sorry no idea at this stage.
Best to email Nic at Eureka.
Cheers
Fuzzy.
