I've just come off a painter's block that lasted nearly two months. Phew! Here are the first things my brushes alighted on, once I'd seen the light again. Two Seminole chiefs by Conquest:

Lovely minis to paint, even if their arrival in the post accompanied by a demand for some rather severe customs fees was one of the things put me off painting them in the first place! Anyway, they're done, I'm happy and I'm actually looking forward to the next batch, instead of feeling reproachful every time I see my boxes of unpainted lead in the corner of the room... It's good to be back.
:)

They are beautifully done and are tempting me into a war that previously held no interest for me. :)

:-* I'm really looking forward to watching this project develop.

:)Looking good!

Good to hear. What's really needed is an enterprising mini company to supplement their range with some militia that would fit into any generic 1830 America setting... Maybe those guys on Plate E of the Osprey Seminole Wars book? I'd say half a dozen or so figures would work, and if anyone could get them to me by, ooh, just before the middle of October, that'd be grand...

I'll ask around and see if I can think of any companies that might be able to help. ;) Just so as I know what to ask for, can you provide a link to the relevent page or plate E I am not sure what the militia will look like?
(if they looklike generic Texians then Bobs your uncle! :D)

I've just done this scan:

See anything you fancy, guvnor? :P

Hmm not quite what I was expecting for militia :?
They are quite a uniformed lot, not like those rag tag Texians I am used to and most individual with the C18th leggings etc.
Not sure I will be able to deliver those...Sorry :(
On a positive note, I like the fisherwoman :)

Oh well, I had to try! lol
They are quite singular bunch. I assume the leggings are to do with the endless tramping about the Florida swamps.
But yes, the fisherwoman could be a catch... ;)

I will have some New Orleans Greys and US deserters in due course who should be suitable, but might not be ready in time for october...
-
lol
I always liked Seminoles, couldn't eat a Completenole
-
I love the fisher-woman too. But she seems to have something going on with the chap in the Russian hat. Just my luck.
I would buy one or two like her those from Malamute's enterprise if he did them.
-
Fisherwoman...............must have! Not sure i like those militia uniforms though the officer one in the Regulars type shako is rather smart, would'nt mind a unit of those although Nicks New Orleans Greys and army deserters will probably be more accurate for in the field for the later parts of this long drawn out episode.
-
:DI would like to see the fisher women done by Boothill miniatures.
-
I second that.
Perhaps the fisher woman could be sculpted as Elena de la Vega instead ;)
-
Excellent painting :)
I am now very tempted by the period and knew if was 'dangerous' to look at this thread lol
-
Very nice. I'm in Semionole War territory. (a few skirmishes where my house is now)
Nasty terrain. (Hog hunting in the dense scrub is hard enough, and they don't shoot back) Thgey have a very nice 25mm diorama of the major battle in our town at the city istorical museum.
(Of course the Seminoles were finally defeated for good last Labor Day, when a Hurricane rolled through them ;) )

Is there any chance you could post some pics of that? Sounds great.

Aha, but everytime someone visits the Hard Rock Cafe, the Seminoles chalk up another victory... Selling the White Man's culture right back to them!

I just popped into this thread and I was amazed by the Seminoles, bravo Oxiana!

It would have been a nice addition to your range!
On a positive note, I like the fisherwoman :)
Me too! Also a nice addition !
But, I am still waiting for the other ones already promised!
An off topic question to Malamute:
Will you be at Salute 2010?
-
Yes, I will be there, not trading but helping Oshiro Models. I will be assisting with running their display game. Drop by and say hello.
-
Three more Seminoles:

The guy on the left is a Black Seminole - escaped/freed slaves who were 'adopted' by the Seminoles.
-
They are gorgeous ;D absolutely delightful :-*
(This still doesnt change my committments though lol)
-
Really, really nice.
-
Very nice indeed
-
Outstanding painting there :-*

Your painting is getting better and better Paul. Those are top notch :)
See you in the next LPL? ;)

You're too kind. I have nothing but respect for anyone willing to take up their brushes to compete in the LPL. I paint in such fits and starts, I'm just not sure if I'd find the discipline to paint my way through all the rounds.
But never say never though. If 2010 can see Captain Blood turning his hand to zombies and VSF, then let's face it - anything is possible!
lol

Very,very nice work. 8) 8)
Cheers
