After painting my first batch in brown Hollands I thought I would add another unit in red coats.

First thing I have painted for a couple of weeks and it is quite a relief to be back in the saddle again.

Wow :-* :-*
Great stuff!
What colour red did you use?
-
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice! How many packs did you buy at WMMS?
-
Nothing beats a red coat!
Superb! :-*
-
Bloody good, Svennn. Excellent paintbrushmanship.

Luvverly. :)

Always good to to start again with a morale-boosting paint job and this mini is certainly that. Splendid!
-
Love it. :)
What are all those red paints in the background? And I too would like to know the colour combination.

Well done lovely colour contrast, I like the style very much, thanks for sharing

Wowza! Nice contrast. Looks really sharp

They look like craft paints (in the far background), which retail at 99p from most craft shops, in the foreground are some Miniature Paints, which I believe Magister Militum stock.
I used those craft paints when I first started wargaming and I can't stand them now!!!!
Lovely reds on the mini though, so it shows they work!

My local gaming shop sells Miniature Paints, the range carries some great colours and they're a good texture.

Thanks chaps. The next seven are well underway and I hope to finish them this weekend.
I took the photo in front of one of my paint racks. I group them by colour and it just happened to be the reds. As has been said there are craft paints and Miniature Paints in shot, there are also Humbrols, Poster paints, Foundry (rubbish), CDA etc on there too.
On this chap I just used two craft paints. Base coat of Americana Deep Burgundy followed by Anitas Dark Red. I usually put a final highlight of Inscribe Holly Berry on my reds but thought this chap looked better without. There is some shading with some paynes grey mixed in.
So all craft paints. I like them as they have good pigment and coverage but they are very inconsistent and I lost count a long time ago of bottles bought and then binned as useless. Get a good one though and it lasts forever and they are cheap enough to take the risk.
TC - just four packs from WMMS, I intend to paint them all before buying more in a futile attempt at staying on top of my purchasing/stockpile.

I group by colour too - regardless of make.

I got the first eight of the new batch finished. Apologies for the pics, somehow I managed to photograph them whilst in the mines of Moria it seems

Svennn - I am so with you. Good craft paints are every bit as good as 'hobby' paints, and at a fraction of the price.
Your Mutiny collection's coming on nicely :)
-
I have to say, I must try them out at some point again. I just found them quite dusty... :?
-
They are looking great, up to your usual high standard :)
-
Great work, Svennn!
-
very impressive
don't bother with the "dark" pic, it is very atmospheric :)
-
Nice work mate!
-
well done cracking job,
-
Great stuff my good man. Soooooo if they are in the mines of Moria who are they shooting at?

Its just the way the pictures came out. They looked well lit, by sunlight streaming in through the window, when I took the shots. They are actually stood on my BoB terrain boards ::)
-
Very nice looking mini's. 8)
Cheers

Just the Bugler from one of the command packs for now. And Plynkes, if you read this, he has a pugri :D
(http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w198/svennnthedhnut/Panda240.jpg)
slightly better shot of some of the last lot of Brits
(http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w198/svennnthedhnut/Panda246.jpg)
Using backdrops so there is something else for the camera to focus on seems to work better for me ???
cheers Svennn
-
Like those a lot - and your new backdrops (not so sure about the Mines of Moria look. I kept expecting the Balrog to turn up, and I don't remember him being at the Siege of Cawnpore, no matter how luridly the Brits wrote up the atrocities!)
-
Lovely stuff Dear Boy. :)
Looking forward to seeing the command pack, especially the standard bearer ;)
-
First standard bearer

Oooooooh yes!
I'll be the first to ask, how did you make the standard?
