Title: Boxer Rebellion Marines
Post by: ushistoryprof on April 15, 2010, 11:34:54 PM
I am currently in the midst of a project to paint a 28mm  squad or platoon level unit of US Marines for every major conflict that they Corps has been involved in since the American Revolution.  I am now looking for models to represent those Marines present in the 1900 Boxer Rebellion.  Aside from Foundry and Old Glory do any other manufactures make this range?

If you are interested in seeing what I have done so far check out this link:

Wow, Prof!  Your sets on the blog look great!

Didn't you just get those brigade marines?  (for the Haiti pics)

That is gonna be a sweet project when it is complete.

I thought the old Glory Boxer marines were ther best?

I haven't seen Redoubt's  Boxer range,
but they have some nice figures.  (aren't they big?  Much bigger than Perry, OG, Foundry, etc?)

Thanks Smokeyrone, yes I did just get the Haiti Marines, they were so fun to paint I couldn't put them down.  I am enjoying the projectboth the research and the actual painting.  The Haiti Marines are Pulp Figures, they are very nice pices indeed.

When you get close to finishing the entire range,
I'm gonna break out "The Savage Wars of Peace"  and come up with more and more Marine actions , so it will never end!  lol

(I forgot about our Marines being involved in Egyptian/British battles in 1882.  Yep, we were there.)

There are loads of great marines videos in the British Pathe archive, if you're looking for more inspiration - http://www.britishpathe.com/results.php?search=marines
There are hundreds though, you could spend days in there!  o_o

That's a great idea for a project! I'd love to do a similar thing with the Royal Engineers one day
