Post by: abhorsen950 on April 18, 2010, 05:14:13 PM
Now ive started watching Pirates of the Carribean three and I just love the east india trading company.

Anybody know of any well what can I call them? Big battle? or 15mm wargame rules for this period.

Would love to hear from you all.

Gloire is a popular set that may serve, you can get a demo version here:

As ever it's always worth looking at Free Wargames Rules site.

Just to be clear, are you asking about rules for Hollywood-esque swashbuckling pirate games, or for fighting the various wars the East India Company was embroiled in? The two would require radically different rule sets, I would think.

(Sorry, haven't seen the film you mention, so not sure what you are after.)

If you are talking about just ship to ship combat...  Then Pirates from Flagship games is what you want.  You can get them at www.scalecreep.com . Fun game...  NOT historically accurate though...  But WAY fun!

"And All For One!" by Eureka miniatures is great for this as well.

You might want to consider Sharp Practice. It has special rules for Indians and sailors and should work well for pirates. You can have a decent game with @30 figures a side IMO. It can be a bit Hollywood, but as long as you restrict the leaders you take you can have a perfectly historical result.
