Title: ACW comparison
Post by: joroas on May 02, 2010, 11:44:21 PM
Just for reference how do Perry/Foundry figures scale up against Dixons and Redoubt?

Thanks

Foundry and Perry go together well, although the plastics are not that good frankly. Dixon are nice, but don't mix 'em with other makes in a unit it just won't work. Redoubt are lovely figures, bit taller than Perry/Foundry, but will mix resonably well. Have you considered Renegade Miniatures, they do a nice range and their regiment packs are well priced. £11.95 for 24 figures including command, thats not much more than one Foundry pack of eight figs. Crusader also do a nice, but, small range, same price as Perrys. (metals). £1 per figure.

I did look at Renegade, and they are cheap, but the range is limited and shows no sign of expansion.  I have a load of Perrys and a number of Foundry, no problems with range there, but I have seen some Redoubt on EBay and wondered.

Redoubt scale well with Dixon, and mix in almost seemlessly if you chnge their rather poor heads for spare Dixon ones.

Of course there is always Old Glory, and they are in the process of updating their ACW range. Their marching figures are very nice and would mix in well with all the makes so far mentioned. Certainly worth a look. But Redoubt are nice, and yes the heads are not all brilliant, but they have got the ACW "look" very well.
