Thought I'd post some bigger pics of my recent LPL entry.
To remind you of the concocted backstory...
Colonel Székely leads his Carpathian Rifles into battle, his patent electro-lance force generator to the fore. The Unorthodox Patriarch of Clüj lends spiritual support, while the lesbian crew of the ‘Pokol’ steam-driven machine-gun-carriage pause to enjoy a black Turkish cheroot.
As befits this ancient Principality steeped in gore, the forces of the Autonomous Entity of Transylvania wear uniforms the colour of dried blood, beneath caps of shaggy white wolf fur. The blue facings stand for the skies above the Carpathian Mountains, where giant bat-winged aeronefs plough the azure heavens.
Coming next…
Prince’s Vlad’s vampiric ‘Bridal Guard’ hussars
Vrölok’s Gipsy Horse, and their infernal, steam-powered war wagons
The dire wolves of Wallachia – ichor-fuelled mechanical predators, and their fearsome Cossack riders.
Ördög’s Mailed Fist – the ancient, feudal cavalry of Transylvania, 500 years undead.
That's the general idea, anyway... I might do some of it ;)
Here are the pics - mostly Copplestone Back of Beyond figures. Colonel Székely is from a West Wind vampire hunters pack but can't remember which one.
The Unorthodox Patriarch of Clüj is one of the TAG Renaissance freebies you get with your order :)
The armoured vehicle, as you VSF fans will know, is from Ironclad, and a beautifully crisp model it is too. A real pleasure to assemble and paint.

a championship level entry in every aspect! :-*
Great work and congrats on a well-deserved LPL win!
-
Wow. These looked impressive in the LPL - seeing them all together, they're marvellous.
The Colonel is a lovely mini. I want one now for my Ruritanians, with a more sombre paintjob he'd rather look how I imagine Colonel Sapt. Who never had a giant electro-lance, I'll grant you!
-
Great collection... Beautifully painted models.
I can see that I probably will have to get those Copplestone miniatures too at some point :)
-
Very nice painting there, lovely vivid colours, especially the red. Good colour combination with the red and light blue. ;D
-
Very nice painting as usual. 8) 8)
Cheers
Christopher

Indeed, beautiful!

Stop this man, STOP THIS, do you hear?!!!!
Beautiful, I'd love to take a bite! lol

You have to! It's a good concept with some great ideas.
As for the painting......... lovely jubbly :-*.

Splendid stuff indeed. :)
Looking forward to seeing these chaps in action the next time we meet up at the Grotto... ;)

Great stuff.
Love the vibrancy as is usual.

Pat
Probably because it's VSF.
;D
Nah, they are an awesome set of miniatures, very interesting and the colours are spot on for the character of them!! :)
-
Very nicely executed Richard, good to see you in VSF mode :D
By the way, what red do you use because I really like that one.
cheers
James
-
Congratulations on a well deserved win Richard.
Its nice to see you've finally come over to the Dark Side and produces some VSF stuff.
Keep on with this truly original project, we're all looking forward to seeing some new units to accompany these.
-
Good Gods I like those!!! :o :-* :-* :-*
-
Excellent :-* - looking forward to seeing the Cossacks.
Svetlana: "And Aaa-I-aaah-I-aaa will alvais, lav yooo-u-ooo-u-ooo, vill alvais luv yoooooooh!"
Unorthodox Bishop: "Bravo, Svetlana! Now please sing Baccara's 'Yessir, I can boogie'!"
ROFLMAO.
-
lol lol
I kinew the lesbians would be popular ;)
By the way, what red do you use because I really like that one.
James, it's a mix I'm afraid. Inscribe Burnt Sienna as the basecoat, then Burnt Sienna and GW Blood Red mixed 50:50 as the main colour, then with gradual dabs of Vallejo Bright Orange and white mixed into that to build the highlights. I was trying to get a colour that looked like dried blood - kind of slightly oxidised...
-
Well, you did a great job.
Red has always been a difficult color for me. Usually, I think because I go too bright. You're more subdued style here is very, very nice.
-
I thought it might be a mix, but it's a start :D
cheers
James
-
Awesome work. I love the lesbian tankgirls. Fantastic idea, superbly executed.
-
Wonderful work, and an excellent storyline! :-*
-
Thank you chaps. I find the idea of lesbian tankgirls strangely irresistible... :D
-
I'm sure very few would disagree ;)
-
Thank you chaps. I find the idea of lesbian tankgirls strangely irresistible... :D
Strangely, yes. I get more of a castration anxiety feel by that idea. :? ;)
-
Really great looking minis! But no vampires? For shame! ;)
-
Strangely, yes. I get more of a castration anxiety feel by that idea. :? ;)
Probably because you Swedes have such repressed sexuality :o ;)
lol lol lol
-

There will be vampires... In the fullness of time ;)
-
Probably because you Swedes have such repressed sexuality :o ;)
lol lol lol
That's not really the stereotypical image of my people, is it? :)
-
Nah you're just all blonde pornstars with handlebar moustaches and hot-tubs... ;)
Kinda the opposite really. lol
-
That's not really the stereotypical image of my people, is it? :)
Wonder how much of that was due to Bernadotte's influence? :D
-
Apologies for bringing this thread back from the undead... (Mwu-hahahaha!)
But I've added a few more figures to my VSF/Gothic Horror Transylvanians…
Am planning to field a ‘Principality of Transylvania’ IHMN force at our British Lead Adventurers outing in a few weeks time… The estimable Dewbakuk has kindly provided me with an army list – most of which means nothing to me - but I’m sure it will make sense once I’ve actually played the game.
Will be nice to play a game with my own figures, so decided to add a few reinforcements… Just in case a larger force, or more variety in characters is required… Some of these are supernumeraries more than combatants – there’s always room for a few extras in my own rudimentary ‘Whitechapel Gun Club’ rules. Don’t know whether there is in IHMN – we shall find out!
Fairly quick and dirty paintjobs staged as light relief from my C15th medieval paint production line!
Oleg the castle gatekeeper

Brum Shtoka, the Count’s ancient chauffeur - permanently drunk on the Old Tokay
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/14/577_01_10_13_12_04_34_2.JPG)
Captain Kurtz, the Count’s military adviser
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/14/577_01_10_13_12_04_34_3.JPG)
A couple more foot-sloggers for the Carpathian Rifles… (Bugger, I’ve just realised that - unlike their comrades from a couple of years back - I’ve painted them without gloves… Ah well, not re-doing them now ::) )
Doktor Mordechai Hzardcy, consultant haematologist and revenant monk...
Tatiana Bigova, castle housekeeper, flourishing the wolf’s head standard of the Principality…
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/14/577_01_10_13_12_04_34_4.JPG)
Oleg and Brum come from the Brigade Games RCW train crew set. Kurtz and Mordechai from the same range (Russian officers pack). All Mike Owen sculpts I believe. The Carpathians and Tatiana are from Copplestone’s BoB range. They all fit pretty well together.
Here are the new additions together...

Gorgeous! Such reds...
-
Gorgeous! Such reds...
Yep, very, very nice. ;D
-
Really beautiful paint on those fellows :-* :-* I don't recognize the chauffeur though. Where can I get him? Total character ;D ;D
LB
-
Beautiful painting. :-* Love the reds with the sky blue combination.
-
Cracking work Richard :-* :-*
But what's this, VSF, gladiators? I think we can turn you to anything now lol
cheers
James
-
Tremendous work you have done, Good idea to use the BoB miniatures for a more fictional setting, I might steal that idea... ;)
-
But what's this, VSF, gladiators? I think we can turn you to anything now lol
Except perhaps Mars and Mexico... ::) ;)
Now back to your hula-hula skirt :)
I don't recognize the chauffeur though. Where can I get him? Total character ;D ;D
He and the chap waving the lantern are both from the Brigade Games RCW ('Storm in the east') Russian train crew pack.
-
:o
The Good Captain is weaving and swerving all over the place at present.
Now he lands in Tranny-land for some VSF shenanigans!
:o
Stunning paintwork and excellent colour choices, sir.
Love the rust on the lantern, nice touch.
:-* :-*
And this....
"Brum Shtoka, the Count’s ancient chauffeur"
....is just brilliant!
lol lol
-
Brum brum... ;)
He used to drive the Count's terrifying carriage of course - but I figure as it's VSF Transylvania, the poor old chap now has to drive some infernal steam-powered motor contraption - yet to be determined ;)
(By the way, this is actually not a new departure for me... I have been building this faction for three years now. I just don't do much with it very often... :) )
-
Looks like great fun.
-
Very nice work indeed that man :-*
Good to see the thread and collection revived.
-
I don't recognize the chauffeur though. Where can I get him? Total character ;D ;D
LB
Agreed, thanks for the detail Capt.
And I lust say Tatiana Bigova is quite a mini too, where's he from?
-
...
And I lust say Tatiana Bigova is quite a mini too, where's he from?
Left me a bit confused there; Tatiana is a woman's name, so the 'lust' was a perfectly, to me, understandable Freudian, but then to ask where's 'he' from?
Okay, not for me to judge... lol

Jaw droppingly good

Okay, my humor landed flat; just to make up for it:

Great to see more of this collection - just make sure you don't draw the Society of Thgule as your opposition. Captain Blood vs Zombies -could be messy :)
Looking forward to seeing and maybe fighting these at BLAM :)
-
Beautiful brushwork. You certainly have a very nice set of figures there.
-
Now he lands in Tranny-land for some VSF shenanigans!
I keep seeing this line and expecting there will be pictures of Dracula in drag at some point.
