I picked up a job lot of old COBALT minis ( now out of production) and thought they'd make cool Space Pirates.
I'm also working on a Kitbash assault fighter, droids and APC.
Here's the first completed one:

Nice. How did you do the bubble helmet? Or did they come with them?
-
Thanks pnweerar. The helmets ( which are a pain to fit!) come with them.

Next up is a Pirate leader.
The Control panel he's using with his right hand is going to be for a Scavenger Drone ( Work in progress).

Westwind are selling these off at half price at the moment. So if you want to get them, now is a good time :)
-
Yup! They sure are...I just put in an order yesterday.
Pappa Midnight always ends up costing me money!!!
-
great minis, I really like them and the painting is nicely, too. Going to get the figs!
-
SV,What else are you going to spend your money on? :)
Thanks Prof, can't wait to see some get the Witchheimer treatment!

"Leutenantbrittan" over on Alpha Forge Games Forum used a Star Wars "Crab Bot" as a demolition bot for Star Mogul.
Wanting some droids for my pirates I thought it was a good idea so blatantly copied it!!!
Here's my "Behemoth" class Demolition Bot.

The Crab Bot cost a whopping £1.99 on Ebay!!!!

£1.99! :o
Superb work, love the down and dirty feel. Coing to be an awesome crew.

That is fantastic Pappa!
Your latest stuff continues to blow my mind!! Especially with the incredible deals you find!!
-
1.99 Pounds? You got ripped off, I got mine for 75 cents (US dollars)
Nah, at any price they are a steal and mighty usefull. Mine will be relegated to 20mm sci fi wargaming though I feel they will make a presence in a 40K game too someday.
Brilliant paintjob btw, nice reds and use of dust.

Excellent paint job

Cool figures and excellent paint job!
I had a look at the Westwind Sci Fi figures for use with Laserburn a long time ago. There's some nice power armoured figures which look suitably retro!
-
Thanks for the comments! :)
I've got the robo-bug and I'm now looking at some Battletech stuff to butcher......I mean convert!
Wayswatcher: 75 Cents..................wow that's a real bargain!!!!

Yeah Papa, tell me about it.
Just picked up 5 of the small ones at 50 cents each (and quite a few other Star Wars droids) to convert up for my 20mm games.
The small ones should be nice for 28mm as well, I reckon. They fit nicely on a small 40mm round base. I can take a comparison pic next to a Marine if you want.
(Might I also add I'm starting find shipping prices from the USA really odd these days? 8.80 dollar for 20 mini's I paid, while another charges me 18 to 38 dollars for just 1......)

For a single mini you should never have to pay more that about $10 to any part of Europe. A single mini will fit in the International First Class category at the US post office.
Now, if they are only shipping UPS or USPS Express because they want the tracking number, then you will pay $18 to $38.
-
Oh well, I was mighty pleased with this seller as he shipped the lot at cost (8.80) for up to 20 models. Can't beat that. It takes some searching on Ebay but its easy to take the shipping down a lot depening where you shop. And I like bargains :D
Btw, here is a pic of a Space Marine with the Crab Droids (suddenly I felt they would look nice in a Necron army...good thing I sold those :P )

I always find shipping a bit of a strange one. I've had a t least one item shipped from the US where the seller charged $30.00 and when I got the item it had only cost $15.00 to send. When asked why they said " Handling costs!".
Anyhow, nice use of the smaller Crab Droids! I might have to bet some as repair bots. :)

I've started on some Pirates in Heavy Armour for use as assault troops.
He's a mercenary assult troop from the OOP Cobalt range.
First up is a tactical squad leader with a mobile battle control unit.
I've really gone to town "beating up" his armour as I see the Heavy troopers as the first into any conflict.

That is definately nice work on those Papa. I got a ton of these in trade and from Noble Knight a while back and just needed some inspiration to get working on them. Guess I found it.
