Since Malifaux seems to be a Steampunk-themed game, I'd put it in VSF, but I suppose that a case could be made for Old West or Horror as well. I  actually just picked up a set of Ortega gunfighters, and I must say I was pretty impressed with the figures (I haven't bothered with the rules yet).

That's what I mean! It crosses many genres/areas. And I'd rather discuss it here than on Malifaux's own forums, if folks are inclined.

Actually, I'd stick it in fantasy. It is fantasy after all. I have the same problem with flintloque to some extent. I just shove it in fantasy though and annoy all the frother-types.  :D

For what its worth, its the Weird Wild West aspects that draw me to Malifaux, so I would rather discuss it there lol

As genre-straddling stuff goes, Malifaux is up there with the straddliest.

Oh yes, sorry - I remember now. I think I asked the same question last time it came up!
(It's the Frenchified name, which sounds positively medieval - can't quite reconcile it with Wild West Gothic Steampunk! But maybe it's Louisiana based...  ;))
