A couple of new projects on the work bench:
Here's some work in progress shots of my new Assault Bike. It follows the same basic design as my IKB Steam Low-Rider but with a side-car and mounted machinegun.

I also picked up the basis for Professor Hinchcliffe's Steam Titan "Project:Tiny Tim".
It will be suitably converted with steam stacks, rivets and gatlings......

You can see by the mini next to its foot it is going to be a monster ( Scale height over 75 feet tall!!!!)
I'll add more pics as I go.

The bike and side are absolutely f**king brilliant and thats before an awesome PM paintjob :-* :-* :-*
Can see the potential in Tiny Tim too - look forward to seeing it Midnighted
-
Where did you get the robot titan from? Sidecar look so cool!
-
The robot looks like a Terminator Salvation harvester.
The bike is really great, I can't wait to see it painted.
-
Yep, it's a terminator Harvestor. I have one in my Terminator box.
Bike looks awesome!
-
If anybody can pull of that conversion, it's you. The bike is fantastic!
-
awesome bike indeed
-
The bike looks fantastic :-* :-* :-*
Looking forward to seeing it painted.
Is there a "how to" about somewhere?
The Robot will be brilliant for VSF
-
Absolutely brilliant, PM! What figures are you using for the riders?
:-* :-*
-
Okay, ready to be pilloried for such heresy, but I'll have to say I think the bike is a wee too pretty for my tastes in VSF. I love it, but see it more on a post-apocalyptic table. That said, I would not call foul if it showed on a steam-driven battle, making it brilliant for multi-use. ;->=
The 'harvester' is quite awesome, though bound to be a challenge to alter; you'll have my rapt attention should you decide to do anything to it. Mind you, would play quite fine the way it is...
Haven't seen the movie, and only faintly do I recall large things in the trailers, but never got a GOOD look. Glad I have. :-*
However, I haven't quite gotten over the pseudo-Decepticon chest piece.

well, anyone with his own taste, but You are argueing about the Tag
what is the difference whether you call it VSF, Steampunk, post-apocalyptic etc?
It is a beautiful miniature or not?
and besides, how can VSF be too pretty?
-
another subjective notion of "pretty" ?? ;)
-
well, right now I am going very civilian with the passenger trains and the furniture I got from You
I'll cycle the idea through my rotten mind :D

I suppose, in this case, 'pretty' indicated smooth and sleek. And, of course, darn few rivets.
Painting may alter my feelings entirely, as well.
That said, I stated my expectation of an appropriate thrashing. Please, sir, may I have another.

In a word: Wow! :-*
-

You think this was a thrashing? ;)
than I would be in a bad shape or getting old :D
No, I was simply taking your statement serious.
You might be right that the bike is not "standard" VSF, but I prefer to see this tag as a part of Steampunk anyway - I find steam power limited to victorian or whatever other belle epoque period to narrow anyway
but, it is gorgeous model and I was a bit shocked when I realised it is a conversion and would not be available for sale....
-
Oh dear. I have this stupid idea of a build contest featuring the "least warlike piece of equipment".
e.g. A nightfighter aircraft with chandeliers, a three deck man o'war with a pool and sun loungers?
Any takers?
Very tempted ;)
-
Thank you all for the comments.
The bike is about ready to start painting. I've just finished the "Pilot", cockpit and added rivets to the Titan. Just finishing off the boilers ( I will posty some pics soon).
I admit he bike is a little "sleek" and advanced looking for VSF but I quite liked the lines ( the sweeping body work I see as wooden coachwork rather than metal). I always think it's a little bit of a fine line between Steampunk and VSF and admit most of my VSF stuff borders the two.
The rider is a heavily re-worked Westwind Biker and the passenger is a BlackScorpion Cowboy.
I will post some pre-undercoat shots soon to give you an idea of the parts used.
Thanks again for the comments.

Chairface- shall we do it? Insane I know but what the heck?
I think we must!

Arhh Timothy, there you are?
What a marvel to behold, another bit of "Midnight's Magnificence" :)

This could very well be his "Meknum Opus", methinks. ;)
I have to say that I don't think it DOESN'T look VSF; actually, those slightly curved and arching limbs are rather reminiscent of larger steam engines, and their supporting structure, IMHO.
-
Finally got around to finishing my assault bike ( the Titan is pre-undercoat still).

Here's a quick pic of the donor parts:

Anyone who's interested I've put the pics of the finished bike in my "Zombie Hunting With Style" thread to save repeat postings of the same pics.

Wicked! :-*

:o Beautiful work! And what a build too! I'm so impressed by what people come up with in the way of vehicles from such seemingly random parts. Great work.
-
Phenomenal work! :o :-*
-
That's one awesome bike!! :-* :-* :-* :-*
Christopher
-
F'ing AWESOME.
A most bloody marvellous build and paint - yet again. :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
I really do love it, much more than you do so send it to me NOW!!! ;D
-
Great stuff Archibald, :-*
Hows Fritzy by the way, don't think he's been around here for a while?
-
Funny thing is, yesterday, I was about to post something like, 'Okay, it's almost been a full month, and no update. Haven't I apologized enough? Haven't I suffered sufficient public humiliation?'
Only the fact that, a) it wasn't quite a month, and b) everybody experiences the 'road blocks of real life'. Obviously, you haven't had any issues like that.
I did say I expected, having gone looking for a bit more of your work, to have my mind changed by one of your paint jobs. Consider it changed.
Bloody marvelous!
Just to be clear, I've always considered VSF, SteamPunk, and Gothic Horror to be one mash, just with different emphases. I still say that beauty could show up many places and times, and be stunning every time. Really, The Great Race? The Road Warrior? Fantastic!
I am having fun imagining your 'donor' pic with lines and description balloons. :)
Please, please, please, keep us updated on Tim!
Doug

Absolutely marvelous!!!
:-* :o :-*
-
:o Amazing work, love the use of the various bits. Top notch! :)
-
Thank you all for the positive feedback.
I should be cracking on with Tiny Tim over the weekend.

Hows Fritzy by the way, don't think he's been around here for a while?
Fritzy had an OP today and will be in hospital overnight. So-called keyhole surgery looks like he's been shot four times!!!!
As soon as he's well enough I'll try to get him motivated ( my Victorian city needs some buildings!!!!)

Cedric, please will you send Fritzy my bet wishes for a speedy recovery.
I like the new "werewolf hunter too" look slike a Victorian "Blade". (which is a good thing) :)
-
Sweet mother of Gawd!!!!!! that is awesome. Can wait to see the titan. Please post soon.

Beautiful creations there mate.
-
Hé Pappa, don't know how I missed this one up to now, mate! I must be getting old lol or perhaps it's just workload on the job...
Very, very nice indeed!

My Titan has been gathering dust whilst I've been making buildings. I've finished the basic build and undercoated it. It is now armed with a shoulder mounted ARC cannon ( Galvanic) and torso mounted gattlings.
The pilot is another converted Blackscorpion Cowboy.
Should complete it this week.
Cheers

I have been looking forward to this. And you don't disappoint. :-* :-* :-*
I was half imagining loads of unnecessary add on’s but you have kept it nice and crisp and clean. Just the right amount of detail to say VSF. Lovely work
Can’t wait to see the stunning paint job.
-
"I see a red bot and I want it paint in black"... lol
Rudi
-
Stunned.
Me.
I want one.
-
That Titan is how the CyberKing should have looked in Dr Who :D
I hope the pilot has a decent set of ear-defenders though. With those gatlings right by his lug-holes he'll be deaf in no time. Good job there was none of this Health And Safety nonsense back then lol
-
looking good PM
Something on that scale makes me tempted to do some VSF at some point

Outstanding yet again PM. To be honest I didnt think you'd get away with it but a few changes in the right places and you've pulled it off.
-
A beauty! And knowing your elegant painting style, I'm pretty sure this is going to be a masterpeice.
:-*
-
Christ knows how I missed this one ???
Splendid work there PM, really can't wait to see it finished (now I've found the bloody thread :D )
cheers
James

Excellent work PM - it says 'mad scientist' all over :)
-
Thanks guys.
I've managed to finish the "base coat" of the mech over the weekend.
Just eeds highlighting and weathering.
Should be completed soon.

And a quick size comparison with a 28mm mini and a building....
It's the biggest mini I've done ( so far) and will have a shelf to itself!!!

A big thumbs up on that project. :-*
And I do mean a BIG Thumbs up! ;D
-
Completely and totally awesome. I will take the HMS Havoc to the backyard and shoot it now.
-
Very, very impressive. The Titan model is just great. And I just love the simple and yet very effective paintjob. :)

No, no, no, it would be too much pain for you; ship it to me and I'll do the deed.
Someday...
Not holding your breath, are you? :D
Monseur Tim has caused my jaw draw to drop at every stage, and I've been eating crow about the cycle for months, but you've no room for being abashed. Pappa would be the first to admit Tim STARTED awesome, though progressively more so.
Walk proud, man!
Doug
PS Pappa, we are SO looking forward to the first AAR w/ piccies of Tim striking terror on the table! >:D
It better be a BIG table...
-
Totally amazing. You've set yourself a tough challenge to surpass this.
-
Excellent work PM. Now you need to build its nemesis ;)
-
outstanding
did You incorporate soemething heavy in the legs?
-
I squealed like a schoolgirl when I saw this. Just amazing. :o
-
I considered just leaving the post blank, to indicate how speechless I am lol
Amazing. No other word for it. I've always loved the black and gold paintjobs you use for your VSF vehicles, and it's great to see it here. My favourite picture is the one of the Titan beside your wonderful Victorian building - if it were a game, you'd KNOW something bad was about to happen!
I guess you're going to take a break now, after painting that monster, but I have to ask - what's next? If you keep outdoing yourself like this, where will you end up? (besides the madhouse, of course....)
-
Thank you all for the positive comments.
The Titan sat on the side-lines for quite a while as I considered whether it looked "VSF" enough. I had initially put a HUGE boiler on the back but it didn't suit the lines of the model. I think the twin smoke stacks looks OK.
As for what's next, I have the plans drawn up for the "White Swan" public house. It is a corner pub with a tall tower. I'm deciding whether to go for leaded or plate glass windows ( the leaded ones mean no internal detail on the ground floor).
I also have a massive four legged walker which i originally intended for Weird War 2........Hmmm.....Rivets:check.....Huge Boiler:Check......Naval Guns:check........ :D

Can we get a photos of all your extremely cool VSF stuff all in one shot? Please!

Wierd War 2 is far too silly! You need to keep doing the much more sensible VSF stuff.
