Title: Slimey Things
Post by: dreamingleopard on June 14, 2010, 12:13:27 AM
I came across this today, and I want one:

https://www.thunderboltmountain.com/images/SEYF1.jpg

Now, is there a Lovecraftian thing that this would suit?  It seems to fit the genre.  Will have to get out my clear nail polish to get a good mucus going on this one.

Any other slimeys out there?

Otherworld has a nice classic D&D range, if you don't mind male genitalia.

A giant slug or mollusk would suit Glaaki just fine.

As for slimeys...

This Reaper Purple worm would make a fantastic giant leech or something.

4 quid for 5 slugs is a steal IMO 8)

Ooh... thanks for the slug link.

Reaper also makes a pre-painted plastic version of the purple worm.  It's about $20.00 cheaper too.  I have it and it's very nice.  It does not come with the tail piece.

There's a PPP purple worm in the D & D range

http://www.hobbiesandgames.com/PhotoGallery.asp?ProductCode=DDDQ021

Rattrap has the Mongolian Death Worm:

Heresy miniatures have these:

I forgot who those heresy giant slugs were by! lol

khurasan miniatures makes these "Mystri Island Bloodworms".
While not the most impressive sculpt IMO, a darker paint job with some varnish could really bring out the scare factor in these guys.

They also make this Escargon creature, which is actually a beasty from the 1957 monster film The Monster That Challenged the World.
About giant mutant snails that CHALLENGE THE WORLD!
Awesome.

Certainly could be useful but they are 15mm.

I'd 2nd a vote for Glaaki....

A little bit of subtile work adding some spines and you'd have "The Horror from the Lake" ready to lead his undead cultists.

I hope this is in the right place:

I just bought one from eBay, and there are two left right now :) Just type in "Cthonic" and it should come up.

Reaper also makes a pre-painted plastic version of the purple worm.  It's about $20.00 cheaper too.  I have it and it's very nice.  It does not come with the tail piece.

If you want the tailpiece, maybe try ordering 03009: Purple Worm ($27.49 - http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Worm/sku-down/03009 (http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Worm/sku-down/03009)) or P03009B: Tail  ($3.72) from the boneyard.  Here's the pic:

Beats me why anyone would buy the $27.49 worm when they could buy the pieces separately for less combined -- unless Michael Brower's 20018: Great Worm ($6.99) head is of a different size than his head of 03009: Purple Worm ($27.49).  But they certainly look to be the same sculpt.  Does anyone know if they are, or not?  Perhaps the more expensive one is lead, while the other is prepainted plastic?

A "Baby Worm" can be found in 14041: Familiars I(5) ($6.99) or as boneyard piece P14041A: Baby Worm  ($1.65), but it has "legs" (http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/worm/sku-down/14041 (http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/worm/sku-down/14041)):

Speaking of worms, the 03023: Worm Corpse ($6.99) (http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/worm/sku-down/03023 (http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/worm/sku-down/03023)) is a gem:

Imagine that coming at you when you're looking for evidence at a graveyard at night!  Yeeeuck!

Reaper has as few more monstrosities of a slimy nature:

Looking at Matakishi's site tonight I came across the bileworms produced by Gribbly Miniatures:

Vilespawn is worth a look too.

I've got the bileworms from GM. They're quite nice, but I still haven't gotten around to painting or basing them for that matter. They're definitely big enough to gobble up a number of poor souls each though.

Otherworld has a nice (if small) range of slimey dungeon dwelling scum.
A giant slug
(http://i31.tinypic.com/8xlajd.jpg)
Two carrion crawlers labeled as corpse scavengers (in my opinion the best carrion crawlers ever sculpted)
Slimes, oozes, and puddings
Lets face it, you can't get much slimier than actual slimes!
And some lovely giant leeches!  ;D

Wow, these are great, guys!
When the thread peters out, what say we have a vote for the best Glaaki candidate, and I enter that on the Be Wary Quiet, We Hunting Great Old Ones thread (for no points for me of course)?  :)
