Hey guys, a couple of you may know I have an interest in RPG's, well I thought to get a game with a couple of you guys (thats if you would like to) Play using skype maybe? Using Free Skype to Skype calls or something? I would be interested in playing Microlite 20 and Call Of Cthulhu, if anybody thinks this is a good idea, or if anybody can think of better software, please feel free to post here.
Many thanks in advance

Now i'm already into some rpg-esque stuff, so i've no time, but if you like there are a LOT of forum where you can play by forum. There are also masters full of will that could master you, and many many players, that are (mostly) good ones!

Ahhh, okay never mind. And thankyou I will look.

There were some guys who developed a chat interface with dice-rolling and character sheets logs.
Anyone got the name?
-
Thanks for bringing that up, if anybody does know the name please share it, Nelson would you be interested in some gaming?

there are a lot of chat-based rpg, but they su*ks a bit... there are a lot of noobs, and the game, even if the chat framerate is about 1 minute, is too fast!
playing by forum is much better!!!

I've been involved in some RPG playtesting for Fantasy Flight Games (Deathwatch mostly), and we've been using TeamSpeak for that. I'm no fan of these types of programs, but when they work, they work. Thing is, it takes forever for everyone to get his settings right (mic/speakers etc), so a lot of time is lost just getting set up. But like I said; it does the job...
Here's a link:

Regrettably, due to other, real life and even gaming issues, I really have no time to participate, but have fun...

Not really sure what the issue is with your Team Speak but it shouldn't be anything like what you are experiencing. Maybe you should switch to a Ventrilo server instead. I use Vent each and every day and on some days ALL day since i am a WoWHead. We use Vent and i can say i have never ever had your issues. If TS is anything like Vent, someone rents the server they pay a small monthly fee for. You as a user d/l the TS/Vent client on your PC. You type in the TS/Vent server info and hit the "connect" button. And there ya have it. Just an FYI. :-)

Greets,
Im exactly the same, thought I would try and get some gamers together and show me the ropes. I was thinking of using free stuff to keep it cost minimum for everybody.
Thanks for all contributions I will look

Team speak looks promising as its free, looks like it can handle several people in a server at once, looks good if anybodys interested let me know :)

I Take it this has turned into a big No No?? Playing by email does sound very interesting though.
Thanks to everybody who helped out

Have you checked out MapTool? I've used it a few times in the past and it's worked out pretty well as-is or coupled with a voice chat service like Ventrilo.

Ventrilo also works like a dream (free, too). Has both sound and chat.

Sounds good guys, I might be getting somewhere with the play by mail thing though

Somebody on this thread said they dont like playing by IM, I'm playing a one on one systemless Rpg (systemless is definetly the best way to roleplay) via MSN and its immense. Its based in the Fallout game, its brilliant

Also guys, does anybody fancy a couple of games over msn? Just a one on one session of systemless, ill show you the ropes as I have been shown its quite fun though the guy I did it with had been doing it around about 5 years and he gave me tips and said go back to him after I've had some practice, so anybody fancy it? Playing by email is fine too, would be good to get a couple of guys in the UK so were on the same time
