As this is my first posting in this fine community of WW II gamers I would like to tell you about my self:
My name is George Hatzopoulos, I live in Greece, and I think I am more a figure collector than a wargamer since I don’t play much and that’s because I like painting and collecting 28mm figures and playing with 6mm figures while my friends here in Greece like to play with 15mm figures and I haven’t be able to convince them otherwise.
I have started a new project since aweek ago and I would like to sear it with you. I want to create a squad of 28mm German Fallschrimjagers suitable firstly for the battle for Crete and secondly for Leningrad I want them to have irregular look in order to represent the heavy casualties they suffered as they landed which led them to create squads with whoever was in a condition to fight so here are the photos of what I have paint so far.I have finished all the flesh and the grey green trousers, some hands were left to be painted with black gloves.

As you can see in the following pictures I have painted four of them in plain light olive grey jump smokes the rest of them will be painted in Luftwaffe Splinter B camouflage although this saw limited use in operation Mercury it was common by the time they went to Leningrad, and far more interesting don’t you think?

That’s all for now
More when I’ve finished the camos…
Cheers

WIP Fallschrimjager Squad Part Four
Thank you once more for your comments.
The reversed striptease continues with the painting of the remaining trousers, bandoliers, knee protection and bread bag in Luftwaffe blue grey, the gasmask bag in a more greenish light olive grey, the belts and Y straps in light red brown leather and the canteen felt cover in red brown.

George- You are a very talented painter. The faces are spot on, the eyes are perfect and the camo pattern is great too, well done and welcome :)
-
Very nice! I hate to ask - but what base colour did you use for the smocks?
-
Have been following your painting on the SD Forum and think it is about time to tell you, how great these guys look. The time I first saw them, I instantly ordered the Andrea face painting set, your faces are just so plain cool.
But as always I am REALLY interested in the colours you used for uniforms, camo and such! Any chance of enlightening us?
and keep those great pictures coming!

Lovely stuff.
Nice to see some Fallschirmjager in plain non-camo smocks too.

WIP Fallschrimjager Squad Part Five
Thank you for your comments once more.
This time I have painted the uncovered helmets and everything that should be painted in Field Grey I also have tried to take photos with more light in order to better see the LW Splinter Camouflage.
It has been two weeks since I’ve started this unit and I think that it starts to look like Ronald’s Volstad illustrations of German Fallschrimjagers at Crete from witch I has inspired, don’t you think?
The colors I have used for the Lw Splinter cammo are all Vallejo Model Colors
Field Color
a) German Field Grey
b) Khaki
c) Ivory
Brown Pattern
a) German Cam. Black Brown
b) Flat Brown
c) Desert Yellow
Green Pattern
a) German Cam Dark Green
b) Dessert Yellow

Very nice painting indeed! :D Who makes the figures?
-
George, these are really lovely.
It's nice to see such subtlety in figure painting - the result is so much more evocative.
And your Luftwaffe blue looks spot on! Very nicely done.
-
All I can say is; 'WOW'!
-
great article!
