Title: Can you handle another Chaos Sorcerer?
Post by: Muskie on August 13, 2010, 11:10:36 PM
This one I painted up quite rapidly in terms of days, but still spent a lot of time on it in terms of hours.  I used a wide variety of techniques, including blending a variety of unique shades both with and without the wet palette.  I thought it looked pretty good, but the camera is a harsh mistress.  I may touch up something, but basically it is ready for sealing and the table top on Sunday.

Flickr has gotten smarter and gives BBCode for their images now, so hopefully that works.  I also blogged about the painting of this miniature and a few others quite a bit.

Love any kind of citadel goodness - even of a chaotic nature - good job!

Nice! A bit dark, but that might be the photo. I like how the robes came out. The transitions between layers COULD be smoother - but then it would loose a lot of character.

The highlights on the robes are extreme.  I made them more so at the end by black lining them.  I also painted extra folds on the robe, if you just dry brushed it, it wouldn't look like that at all...

The photo did make it look a little harsh, I did a tiny bit more drybrushing on the fur, trying to make it standout or pop a bit and then I sealed it.  I plan to gloss varnish one particular part of the model too.

I didn't do any more painting this evening, my back was sore.  Tomorrow I'll try and paint more, but I'm not painting in pain, it just doesn't mean that much to me, I'll change up my army list or whatever, I've got lots of miniatures in my miniature case:

An entire 1500 point army is missing from this photo, plus it is a year or more out of date, I should take a new one soon, maybe after Astronomi-con Vancouver this year...

Cheers,

Ikea 99 dollars.  Lots of people have them...  More shelves would be good when most of your miniatures are less than 2 inches tall.  Maybe I'll paint a Stompa or something someday and have use for the extra headroom.
