I think most people on here know that I rather like the Japanese and have a small Japanese force at the moment
Thats no way to describe the wife ;D ;D
Lovely stuff :-* :-* :-*
But a two man crew ???
Must be Japanese midgets :D
I believe it's one of the Japanese Capsule toys for Steamboy.
What did you use as the base model?
Spot the guys who don't read the posts....... ;)
Spot the guys who don't read the posts....... ;)
Great work James - did I mention how much I hate you. >:( ;)
I'm always distracted by colour and shiny things......
Looking great, Can't wait to line these chaps up and then shoot them :D
For anyone who doesn't know Malamute personally he's a nice.....ish sort of chap really. He also likes flower arranging and knitting. ;)
Very cool. You might want to thin the neck collar too if possible.
(I'm still going to line them up and shoot them though >:D)
Splendid, it looks lovely alongside the other ill fated ship. Lets hope you don't experience a similar outcome on its maiden voyage ;) :D
How many of these are you intending to build in the long run?
What do you coat your foam hulls with before painting? I would be afraid of damage to them from rough handling. What's your solution?
:-*
Your sun is rising... :)
It will be setting if Her Majesty's (Gaud Bless 'Er) Armed Forces have anything to do with it ;) >:D
You keep saying this but you've yet to prove it ;
James
Excellent Scenery piece, however I thought those worms were natives of Saturn:
(http://imaginarycinema.com/images/burton/normal_beetlejuice071.jpg) lol
Very nice James. Love the oval bases. Very elegant.
Rob Baker would be proud of that std. bearers hand though :o
I think these actually look better in blue than the miriad of khakis usually on show. If only there were more "proper" Nips for this period other than the OG and Redoubt ones (dont even think of mentioning the watchyamacallit ones)
Rob Baker would be proud of that std. bearers hand though
Are they Litko?
How is the smaller aeronef coming along, btw?
I'm about to go out and get p****d ;D
Nope, there're my own lasered from perspex. 20 for £3
Are you adding the turrets to you shop as well?
(I shall even resist adding the cheesy comment about shooting it down too ;))
Thats pretty good for a first sculpt (you talented bastard) ;)
I think I might be using too much water when smoothing as it tends to distort what I'm looking at somewhat.
but recently I've been using fairy liquid
I'm not a sculpted by any standards, but recently I've been using fairy liquid instead of water. It seems to let the shaping tools slide over the putty giving a nice smooth finish.
Fair sized fleet you must have now?
Fair sized fleet you must have now?
First time I've heard anyone call an aeronef "cute" .... but it is :)
I really like the sculpt - very Japanese - did you do anymore?
Effing brilliant ;D ;D ;D :-* :-*
Holy smokes!
That is an impressive display of power! lol ;D
Great idea with the propellers! I'm struggling to find some.. got any links!?
And the arms race continues. I defy anyone to catch me now ;D ;D
As we all know, its not the size, but what you do with it that counts... ;)
Magnificent stuff as always ;D
At the moment the smart money's on the Japanese ;)
I am going to cry shenanigans on idea theft though :) (besides, mine are prettier :D )
These nefs are truly stunning :)
If I was being picky, ;) I would suggest they nefs need some railing to stop the plucky Japanese falling overboard!
I can't wait to see a fleet action battle report!
Cheers
Fuzzy.
Looking great :-* :-* :-* :-*
Are you going to have a Japanese civil war with these because I don't think anyone else could compete with the amount of Nefs :o
Reaaly like the idea of the floating platform :-* :-* :-*
One thing about the gunboat though. The flag staff at the front wouldn't last very long :o
Nope, oddly enough the platform makes perfect sense. I am going to cry shenanigans on idea theft though :) (besides, mine are prettier :D )
Its just not fair! :-* :-*
All I've managed this month is a bit of viaduct.
Something special eh? Tease us further.
Looks great but its not a very long canal is it ;D
Before we know it you'll be building something to sail/steam along the canal..... ;)
One of my biggest hobby regrets is still making a modular board with a river in it... in 90% of my games I don't need a river! lol
Already on it but that's for another thread as it's more generic and can certainly be used on the Thames etc :)
Very nice, but I think the canal bottom needs to have some debris added. You know, the usual sort of stuff - penny farthings, bed frames, shopping trolleys ....
In London perhaps but not on Mars! The canals are the lifeblood of the cities and the Venetian flotilla's will inflict severe 'on the spot penalties' to anyone found dumping!
In that case how about some "no fly tipping" signs in Martian and various Earth languages lol
In that case how about some "no fly tipping" signs in Martian and various Earth languages lol
Nicely done sir, love the removable water - bet you wish you'd thought of that for a certain project ;)
Thank you :) I aim to please but unfortunately my dice rollling sucks lol
Thank you :) I aim to please but unfortunately my dice rollling sucks lol
I have some more to show this weekend, troops and more scenery :D
Questions will be answered also :)
cheers
James
It's not the dice, it's because you have the tactical nuance of a pikeman ;-)
lol
Ooh, he's back, quick everyone pretend we weren't talking about him...
Who's Millymally Millymally?
I like 'Em anyway, and the boat is rather spiffing ;D
It's not the dice, it's because you have the tactical nuance of a pikeman ;-)
We all know the only reason that tug is being done as a generic civilian ship is because that way it might make it through a game ;)
@ gamer Mac, it has been built for a reason that will become apparent at BLAM :D
The underwater game? :D ;)
Thanks chaps :)
The railings are from 0.8mm brass tube cut to size and dress making pins used to keep the chain in place (put through the links, and yes, I did count each set ::) :) )
My platform broke :'(
Gives me an excuse to start over though.
I think you are going to hit this one for 6!
That's not good :( silly boy ;D Are you going for the same thing?
Yep, same thing although the collars were giving me trouble. Oh for a proper lathe.
Did some slight damage so decided to strengthen it.... keep an eye on expanding foam....
You mention selling the turrets- Will they be on your website?
Hmm, that boat doesn't appear to be carrying the correct identification issued by the Neo-Venizian Free Trade Canal Commision. Prepare for boarding and inspection!
Now, now, Boys. Play nicely! lol
Who gave the authority to the Commission to 'police' the free canals of Mars.
So the 'Free State' of Neo-Venizia is actually a puppet state of the dastardly Prussians.
That said, as the North European Confedaration has registered all of it's vessels with the Canal Commission, they are entitled to the support of the Neo-Venizian Navy in their legitamate use of the canals against unregistered 'pirate' vessels.
That sir, would be his emminence Pope Leo XIII, Bishop of Rome and Mars, Vicar of Jesus Christ, Successor of the Prince of the Apostles, Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church, Primate of Italy, Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Roman Province, Sovereign of the State of Vatican City, Servant of the Servants of God.
I am afraid Her Majesty's (Gaud Bless 'Er) Government does not recognise the legitimacy of this claim.
Therefore the policing of the Martian canals along with the rest of Mars will remain under the protection of the Anglo/Japanese Forces representing the official Martian Government. Any attempts to illicit monies from vessels travelling the canals or highways of Mars by anyone other than the designated Anglo/Japanese forces will be considered an act of piracy and subject to punishment under Martian Law as laid down in the Anglo/Japan/Mars agreement of 1881.
@jimbibbly
I'm sorry if it's already been asked but what are those robots you have on the last couple of photos?
I love this thread, from the ships to the canal, great work all around. I was wondering where you got the clear movement trays from? I'm looking for something similar. Sorry for the thread jacking and again, very nice work.
Justin
Havn't been here for a while and missed all the magnificent progress. Superb work, Sir!
:-* :-*
Very nice indeed! :-* How big is the gaming table going to be? ;)
I wonder who the French will side with?
What are the walls made from? Are the bricks laser cut
I love this comment: "And finally for tonight I made a little Victorian building..." That building would have taken me three weeks to complete. :? :)
I must check out your site- Those tiles would certainly work for me.
Having decided that I must stop with the Mordheim scenery and start my VSF project as soon as SELWG has been and gone, I feel I will be sending some Shekles your way some time soon!
Are you going to laser each building or mould/cast them from masters? Looks absolutely superb but wondered if there was enough relief in the brickwork for moulding?
Go on, tell us what else you've got in the pipeline
I didn't realise you sold those tiles, must PM you before BLAM. ;)
Appears the Japanese are going "all in" for Mars. :)
No ;D (well, maybe at BLAM ;) ).
It's a very recent thing and I keep meaning to 'advertise' them on here ::)
And woe betide any one who try's to stop me >:D
cheers
James
The laser tiles look fab - now, howabout laser thatch lol
No ;D (well, maybe at BLAM ;) ).Aha! I shall ply you with alcohol and learn your secrets. Even those about Malamute.
Aha! I shall ply you with alcohol and learn your secrets. Even those about Malamute.
I have no secrets :D
There is that thing with the soda stream, but I'm not sure if that counts as a secret ::)
Now I've only got three units left to paint and then I'm going to have to buy some more because there is the khaki uniform to do yet ;)
Are you planning on selling these?
My only slight quibble( apart from the fact it's not mine!! ) is it could do with some mini propellers to stop it drifting in the Martian wind! Maybe something underneath on the slopping edge
Are you just building the one?
Bah, mine has more elegence ;)
Awesome work. You have a real talent for scratchbuilding.
Can't wait to see the finished product.
PM
He'd better, given he gets paid to do it as a day job!
Fair comment! lol
To there is go to be a bash up on Mars at Salute, eh?
Are those Martian minis you are working on Jimbo going to make it to the battle?
Thats the Peking wall you started eons ago up the swanny then ;D ;D ;D
And the Nef mooring tower :)
The small lump in the middle will be cast and used as merlons.
or some heavy siege artillery
Doesn't somebody have a big stonking mortar? That could come in handy!
I misread that as melons and wondered what you were on about *cough* :-X
Doesn't somebody have a big stonking mortar? That could come in handy!
Got some more wall blanks cut out at work tonight so I'm going to start cladding them later.
Got some more wall blanks cut out at work tonight so I'm going to start cladding them later.
So do we have a scenario? My Balloons are designed to defend against Martians, not lay siege to a defended colony... They look pretty though :)
What do you clad them in. They look great (as all your stuff does) :-*
Put shit on the table and move it around lol
Only kidding Dave ;)
I know what you mean Paul, Malamute said the same thing after Salute :D
'There's something in the aether'
cheers
James
Put shit on the table and move it around lol
Yay, we're back :D
Yay, we're back :D
Yay, we're back :D
Really got the building bug at the moment :D The neff docking station is even going to come out of hiding...
I think the gerneral consensus is the crane needs to go into production. ;)
Anyway, I'm going to make some Robin hood terrain now as I keep getting pestered ;D
Love the crane, James! :-*
You must have a larger warhouse to store all those huge buildings and projects in, didn't you?
;)
Two questions;
1. Where do you get the time to make all of these wonderful wotsits (VSF, Samurai, Robin Hood, Wizard's Tower, Star Destroyers( ;)), etc)......?
This past week after tidying up after Salute I've been doing my own thing instead of commissions, pre-orders etc and my mojo came back with a bang :D
... the gauge is 1067mm and at scale that equates to approximately 23mm ???
Doesn't seem quite right ....
The photo isn't too clear but hopefully you'll get the idea...
Looking good so far - like a VSF version of 1900 Peking. So how about a Martian take on the Boxer Rebellion?
Great minds and all that. It's been discussed. :D
It certainly has and will be again on Tuesday ;D
cheers
James
You're a bad influence.
Tremendous as always but you need to do more with the tracks, they are letting it down a little a present ;D
Is the hatch on the top going to be one of your new items?
What is the hanger going to be covered in?
And the most important thing is... We're playing a game on Tuesday!!!!! :D :D :D
Probably best, you wouldn't want me to burn your shiny new town down ;)
He is more than adept at doing that himself ;)
A quick technical question or two: which program do you produce your drawing files for the laser cutter in? Does it let you do a pattern fill for the brickwork, or is that a layer (or equivalent) that you created yourself?
And just to prove you nay-sayers wrong, I'll be playing Martians against the British so nayh nayh nayh ;D
Either Rhino or Autocad 2007 (2010 sucks). Rhino is more of a 3D package but we are using that more and more as the files we get for work are becoming more 3D based.
The brickwork pattern was drawn a while back for my Victorian terraces, there are 'fill' patterns available but they don't tend to mix well with the material thicknesses we have. Depending on the job I might do the brick work from scratch as it helps when including windows, architrave etc :)
Natives with spears against rifle armed professional soldiers. It hardly seems fair. ::)
You'll have seven Nefs of various sizes. :o :o :o
Whose got enough Nefs to take on that fleet? ;)
Maybe the Norwegians.
And when can we get an AAR on that battle?
Hmm...I would have to fly to England, but it may be worth it.
...
And to mysteriousbill - I thank you for even mentioning my throwtogethers in the same breath as these wonders.
Hmm, I know I was talking about combat engineers but I hadn't intended breaching machines..... >:D
Martian "hang-gliders" (like flying squirrels).....
Grappling hook launchers with rope ladders attached....
I suppose I had better finish painting the Raas Ak Naa clan.... ::)
New Victoria walls...
With all the Japanese troops in the city, I would have think it would be renamed New Tokyo by now… ;D
Well, that is a concession that we have been thinking on...
cheers
James
Love the stonework, woodwork, just love the whole thing :)
You can stand next to it again at Salute 2013 if you like and pretend you are not running "that" other game ;) lol
I don't like it.
It must be murder working the signals in that uniform ;)
I don't like it.
Looks brilliant. I also like the look of the Tudor framed building at the back...any wips for that anywhere?
Holy sh*t!! :o :o That looks stunning!
BTW please don't blame me, I don't want beat up by your wife when your sat in your hobby room doing interiors when she's expecting you to be painting the house! ;)
BTW-2 will the railway be a real working one?
Question for you chaps
For the station I've got two choices, brick or clapboard (the signal box is clapboard) which do you think would be best?
cheers
James
I think the main building should be brick.
Rest of it is looking superb though.
I don't like it.
Where's the brickwork plasticard from if I may so enquire?
Working on a viaduct myself and I'm going for a brick station.
This beastie was at the Scottish Model Rail Show earlier this year, what about using this as inspiration and doing something slightly simpler/smaller?......
How many days to go?
Sorry!!
but you could cheat and pick up a model railway bridge and convert it...
;)
I was having a think last night and I'm probably going to go with something like the image below but with the addition of either something like the picture you've got Andy or suspension cabling...
Do iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit! ;D
And where's the fun in that ;D
Well, you cheated with the brickwork, so I did not think that you would have too many objections..... ::)
It'll give you spare time to find a set of rules! lol
Do iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit! ;D
And make me one while you're at it ;)
Rubbish! It's been hard enough matching the courses round whatever I'm making (no course is the same as any other ::) )
He bit!
lol lol lol
Already started to draw it at home and I could make you one if you really want one ;) :D
cheers
James
that's my Sean Connery voice
He bit!
lol lol lol
Why?
Because.
Because.
I moustache you a question though, what size bridge do you want etc?
One that is so big that your nefs will certainly crash into it wherever they are on the table when they are shot down ... again lol
Fair enough :D
I moustache you a question though, what size bridge do you want etc?
cheers
James
Ignore the others, they're just jealous because you've got a bigbridgetarget.
Looking forward to seeing it covered in Earther blood when the Raas Ak Naa next strike. ;)
Super duper luvely great, James! :-* I'm fascinated!
Did you build this station building yourself or is it a kind of kit?
Choo, choo!
All rather splendid Dear Boy. ;D
The black and white tiled floor is most effective. :-*
Looking forward to seeing it covered in Earther blood when the Raas-Ak-Naa next strike. ;)
Couldn't you just show up with 2 guys and watch his 'nef blow up?
How lucky is Malamute to have the opportunity to disembowel your weak Earthmen over your amazing terrain piece.
This is looking great.....but... When do we see the actual VSF train??? :P
Dare I ask what sort of game is going to fit around such terrain?
Are we talking a battle with units and machines or a Pulp adventure with heroes jumping from 'nefs to trains and performing feats of derring-do?
Dont forget, if it is has any British connections, to have a 'train delayed' sign somewhere on the station.... ;)
Cracking stuff. Is Malamutt going to do some British PoWs to work on it though ;-)
spartan games has released some steam punk Japanese. Picked up the 6 figure set yesterday and they are wonderful sculpts.
Looking good, mate, very good.
8)
Just make sure that you have checked the dimensions of your choo-choo if it is to fit through the gap that you have left!
;)
Haven't made it yet lol
Snow day today so when I've got some commission work out of the way I'll be working on this :D
cheers
James
Snow day! You really have forgotten your Cumbrian roots and become a soft Londoner lol
I'm going to call you Cockney Dave from now on :o
Looking good, mate, very good.
8)
Just make sure that you have checked the dimensions of your choo-choo if it is to fit through the gap that you have left!
;)
Snow day today
By the gods, what a beautiful table! How are you doing the cliffs? Is that cork?
This is the kind of work I wish I had room to store, but I'll just have to survive with smaller pieces I can put in boxes. I do kind of wish I could go to England and fight over this with my Norwegians, though.
Looking great mate, did you have to stay up all night to finish it ??? lol
Jim, the hatch in the wall, what is it? Nef docking station?
What is happening next for this, besides the train and detailing?
Jim, the hatch in the wall, what is it? Nef docking station?
8)
The Bibbly does not sleep.
From what I hear, that is the maximum height for a Nef under the 'bibbly's control.
Any higher and it is doomed!
;)
The walls of New Victoria need completing, I have several ideas in mind, the only bind being is that there will be several sections the same :(
I've got a stoking idea for the other end of the railway viaduct, I'll just have to see whether it pans out :?
Lots of nice vertical surfaces for Mr Bibbly's Japanese 'nefs to crash into lol
Brilliant, anyone would think you made models for a living! lol lol
Brilliant, anyone would think you made models for a living! lol lol
Were you not told that doing THAT could make you go blind?
;)
Take it easy, mate, and hope your eye gets better sharpish.
:)
That Mason is a very naughty boy. ;)
I have no idea why you should say that....
lol
If you're not careful Mr Bibbly will threaten you with a slap. And I think he's going to offer one to Mr Bullshott as well ;) lol
Oh, does he get an ickle bit tetchy when he has the poorlies?
lol
You're pushing your luck Matey ;) lol
I am currently wearing an eye patch courtesy of my lovely wife ::) and I'm just sitting waiting for the comments that are enevitably going to come from saying that lol
I am currently wearing an eye patch courtesy of my lovely wife ::)cheers
James
I am currently wearing an eye patch courtesy of my lovely wife ::) and I'm just sitting waiting for the comments that are enevitably going to come from saying that lol
Well, you have been busy haven't you. Lets see it actually get finished though.....
Fantastic James!! :o :o
Do you have an over all plan for this board or are you just building what you think suits as you go?
Its getting there. Now be a good chap and make another legation gateway ;D
The gatlings are from HLBS and very nice to deal with they were too :D
You can actually buy plastic rail that might do the job for the track. I got given some, but if you want I can find out where it's from?
Very cool. The problem with this wall set up is it's just making me sit here thinking of things with which to breach it >:D
That last pic Jim is :-*
Fantastic work.
Will be at Salute this year, forgive my ignorance, but where will I be able to pick some of these beauties up.
Very nice, but I'm going to be picky ;)
You've used the wrong brick pattern. Flemish bond is very pretty but Victorian utility buildings were built for strength and performance, English bond sir, English.
And there are more where that came from ;)
cheers
James
Nice model but this is a proper man's pumping station lol
Parrot gun? It's nice, but no way it's going to hit Martian Skiffs lol
You are cutting it a little fine, though, aren't you?
::)
You are cutting it a little fine, though, aren't you?
::)
Where's the fun in being ready ahead of the game ;)
Shall I bring a paintbrush with me to Salute then?
:D
Not needed by me - I finished my figures tonight - with a whole 4 days to spare :)
Dont you think that you should write a tutorial on how to do that for James' benefit?
;)
I'm currently sat assembling Martians :)
You're pushing your luck. lol
.....along with as much viaduct as I can muster :D
You're pushing your luck. lol
I am a bit considering that I NEVER get everything finished without a mad last minute rush.
And, and times, not even then.... ::)
No idea about the Parrot gun, although it might be the name of the chap that invented it ???
...
Oh yeah! Small enough to carry on the back of your specialists but not big enough to power a stationary åiece?! THAT makes sense ...! ;)
We're supposed to be making sense?!? :o
In a way,yes. :)
0But the more I think about it, isn't WW1 what would happen in a VSF war? :D
But I too have wondered about the lack of AAA. At least some Maxim or Gatling guns mounted to fire upwards?
Still a fair few details to go on and clean up. There's also going to be some projecting balconies but I'm still undecided as to their final design.
I'm thinking some sort if canopy structure on the top aswell along with maybe another round tower or two. Also got to think on the bridge connection at the rear :)
Here he goes again.
Crippled and he is still at it.
Nice shape. Who's it going to belong to? I'm assuming not the sky martians.
Could you put a skiff docking point on the tower for loading/unloading supplies? Like one of those anchor poles that they have at dirigible landing strips.
I hope it's nothing too serious!?!
Your going to need a bigger board!! ;)........oh and a bigger background photo the next time!......and a bigger background bearer!! ;)
I think the background bearer is quite happy the way he is ;)
I must get on with Robin Hood terrain now otherwise I'll get told off and harassed lol
........but you really should not upset him!
:)
Yeah, you don't want to upset him, or get told off (whoever he is). :D
and I bet you even lasered the beams ;D
I've got a couple of cars for the loco which are on page I've got no idea and will give it a go later this month.
Page 43:

Oi! Mr Bibbly - you're popular - or at least that's what photophucket is claiming.
Came to the thread this morning for inspiration for planning some terrain making over my three days off and all the wargamesporn has disappeared and is showing photophucket holding images.
Seems like someone's been using your bandstand and you need some proPlus or something?
Get it sorted pronto please lol lol
I can see them ;D
cheers
James
Are you able to see the older images?
It must be his eyesight and his age, probably due to his birthday today. ;) lol
Or then again maybe not lol lol
Or then again maybe not lol lol
You can always switch to imgur. no limits and no fuss there. Only problem is re-doing all your links. :?
I may have a small tip for you (of which you may already be aware in which case I apologize): unsightly fuzz on miniature lumber which sometimes interferes with painting can be removed by wetting it, letting it dry and then giving it a quick rub with steel wool.
Seperate battle report to follow tonight :D
Lovely work! Are those the Renedra Bell Tents?
I only have two burning markers for now so his options as limited lol
Are your rocks made out of cork bark?
You'd be well off with some skirmish VSF, too, soon. Maybe next time? :D
Can't wait to start the campaign now ;D
can't add any more exuberant praising :-*
may I ask what the pedestal mounts for the gatlings are made of?
Railings? What about some rails ;D
lol
Just think of the choo-choo noises you can make when you add them.
:D
You must be well Chuffed.
:D
For the most part, yes. I spend a bit of time choosing ones that look and fit right together :)
On post 1, page 1 I've linked each page to the relevant section in the thread to make future navigation that much easier :)
Clever, that, creating an index.
Clever, that, creating an index.
There will also be a brick lighthouse on the top (just because)
Jim Bibbly: How do you get clean seams/joins on the corners of your stone plastic sheets? I have often wrestled with this problem. I love this thread by the way and am always amazed at the museum quality of your game boards.
Are you taking a stepladder to salute for your smaller helpers :D
Cooool! 8) 8)
One question......will the lighthouse actually light? ;) Maybe some sort of battery powered spinning light?
Is that one of your sailor boys standing there looking mean and moody?
???
Certainly is, fancy a pack?
I agree with Mason, it has to be green ;)
I agree with all that, including going green :D
8)
I agree with all that, including going green :D

Time for another small update. Not having a laser to play with is making me think of different ways of making things (old school ) which isn't a bad thing as you get out of practice after a while."No laser". I hope you didn't cut your finger while grinding in the muck and refuse with the rest of us modelling peasant, your highness.
Have you reached a meter tall yet?
"No laser". I hope you didn't cut your finger while grinding in the muck and refuse with the rest of us modelling peasant, your highness.
;)
how about some fairy lights :D
AMAZING!! :-*
Love the roof. How did you do that? Not with a Lazer I bet. ;)
The roof itself is a four part resin cast of a single facet. The eighth master was made from MDF (hand cut) at uni over 13 years ago. The master was moulded, I then cast four which got stuck together as they were going to be the rear roof of a pleasure neff (I was even doing it back then to some extent) but it didn't get that far unfortunately. I'll cast this four part master after I've tidied it up somewhat :)
The whole project will be under review in the coming weeks so it can be seen what to do for Salute, not too much hopefully but you know how these things go ::) lol
Good to see you back on form old chum. lol
This
:D
Any thoughts on how you'll do the rails yet?
All nice additions Jimbob. Liking the mesa, I take it you coloured the corners to mask the edges of the stonework when it goes on top?
Will you be needing a bigger table at Salute this year?
Only asking as, if that is so, the Union will need to be informed as it will soon become a two-man-job, holding up the larger backdrop for this.
:D
Only asking as, if that is so, the Union will need to be informed as it will soon become a two-man-job, holding up the larger backdrop for this.
:D
Say, are those the brigade games railcars?
Have we seen the cliff lift before?
Nice wedding photo, the fables of your height seem validated my my vantage point across the pond. :D
Geek question - that clock is about 2.5% slower than an Earth clock, or runs at the same speed?
Nice one - don't forget the stables though ;)
Speaking of jigs though.....
Just how big will the table be at Salute ?
Certainly not as nice as Michi's
Got another two kits turning up soon :D
What to do with them though ???
Looks fantastic! Although I think you should dirty up the inside of the coal tender, given that it was full of.... well... coal.
More trains?
How about a crashed version for when those dastardly Martians get up to a bit of derailing...?
;)
I have several ideas for more trains but I've got to be careful it doesn't turn into a model railway set up lol
........too much to do!
Lovely work on the paint job and weathering is great.
I have a bag of model rail coal that well.... looks like coal, would be idea for the tender.
The only small thing that jars a bit is the brass coloured chain for connecting the carriages. Maybe should be iron
I wouldn't want to be in the forward gun car if the crew fired that beast sideways!
What colour did you use for the tender ad carriages?
Great looking bunch. Tsuba minatures, I presume?copplestone chinese
Mate, these look bloody brilliant!2nd that
:-* :-* :-*
You've been on fire lately :)
Looks like the guy with the umbrella had a laundry mistake, did he wash his uniform with the Missu's red brassiere? :D
Apart from him, ;) they look very splendid in their whites.
Great looking bunch. Tsuba minatures, I presume?

Now that wouldn´t be the worst thing that could happe, I´d say...
Beautiful train that is really admirable. I like your conversions and the nice effect you got by drybrushing. Very, very good and of course as good as mine, but a different approach. I´m glad to see yours finished now!
Looking great, I think a gun emplacement option would finish it off nicely.
I think I'll be heading to HMV at the weekend to pick up The North West Frontier then :D
cheers
James
Then you can build the section with the destroyed piece of track with only one rail going over the gorge... ;D
...and then just drop one of those extra trains that you have on the floor next to the table, hit with a hammer a couple of times, and you can have an authentic train wreck..... :D
@ Jimbibbly, really like the stonework you have used on the City walls and the like. Could you possibly tell us which type it is and where it can be brought?
This thread is just so full of Awesome
Ace Jim! Why not make a lift for the camp? Just a wooden platform hoisted by a pulley/counter-weight system? All you would need is a wooden beam tripod hanging over the cliff?

With something that high, you could combine the need for a lift with a 'nef docking station, projecting from the mesa.
lol lol lol
Lets not talk about docking stations...
Why not?
Page 55 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=21604.810)
It's on the go.
Let's talk about margarine damns instead ;D
This thread is phenomenal. :-*
Cant wait to see the table in all its glory. Lots of pictures please.
With the large structures you have made are you making them out of foam core and then covering them with plasticard?
As to photos, there'll be hundreds :D
When? ;D ;)
Still plenty to do for Salite?
I am getting a little worried about all this topiary and flower arranging, though....are you going soft?
:D
What are you going to do for the roof of the house?
The barracks is a great set of buildings are these all one off's or are they going to be on sale?
Wonderful, simply wonderful - unable to make it to Salute this year due to my own stupidity :'( - so plenty or pictures please. :D
I presume it will be available for us mere mortals at some point?
Why have the Japanese left English text on the barracks' sign?
That is cracking!
That type of garden is a parterre arrangement and was a French innovation. :D
That type of garden is a parterre arrangement and was a French innovation. :D
Not another Northerner going soft.... :D
Bugger lol
The joy of Victorian glass houses, meant they could could control their planting schemes almost ignoring seasons.
And yet I've still never gotten around to visiting Kew ::)
And yet I've still never gotten around to visiting Kew ::)
There's always BLAm, we could organise a visit! (and then there's Wisley). ;)
That's okay. Parterre got a bit of a renaissance in the UK during the latter half of the 19th Century (fell out of favour in the early 1700's). It was slightly different in that it used blocks of coloured planting to form the shapes and forms rather than just the hedging but hedging was still used in places. The flowers/plants used were annuals so lived and died in the one year, requiring a full replant each time. This did allow them to showcase the 'latest' horticultural fashions though :)
Clearly the officer residing is a bit of a traditionalist who likes the hedging. Also, given the harsher climate the block colour planting only lasts a short time and has currently been cleared in preparation for the replanting.
(I don't know, botany lessons on monocot plants not long ago and now garden history. Clearly my time at uni wasn't totally wasted :D)
Nice one Dean! It sounds like we had similar lectures.
I know a fella who used to work there..... ;)
If Victoria barracks is to be British, the guard boxes should be royal blue - just saying ;)
How big will this board be at Salute?
Kew or Wisley?
I wrote a list of what's left to do and it's not as bad as I first thought :D
Still going to run out of time though lol
Ps is that my ballon in the background? ???
Will training be available for Saturday week? I assume being a back drop boy requires a great deal of skill?
Who is the young, slim, handsome chap in the wedding photo?
Kew is overrated unless you are a bush, plant or tree.
Residency roof is roughed out and I made a glaring error :-[ you can't see it in the photos and I'm not going to point it out ;D
You only did half of the roof, didn't you...?
;D ;D ;D
Stunning work :-* :-* :-*
You do know Salute is just over a week away?
The crispness of your work is just incredibly impressive. The more I see if the acrylic based constructs the more it makes mdf (for anything other than Old West, F&IW, etc.) look like a much poorer, clumsier cousin. No offence to mdf fans, I just think this looks much better!
One day soon Jim I can see myself asking if you would do a somewhat fanciful commission for me :)
So do we get a glimpse of the cad plan? :)
You do know Salute is just over a week away?
Not fret, James. We all know you won't let us down.
::) Yes lol I keep getting reminder texts from Mark and Nick... How nice of them :-[
Eight days mate, eight days now. lol
A progress report at just after midnight! Are you pacing yourself for the 3 and 4am finishes?! :D
What is the first picture ?
How do you manage the thin yellow lines so neatly?
Just cottoned on that that is a Russian in the first piccie....(I think) o_o
This another faction you are doing?
"That's a lot of work James you've achieved" or "that's a lot of work James you've still got left to do"? :D
(http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk138/jimbibbly/VSF/Martian%20Japanese/8f7adb820305d17a855fd6eb0ac279bb_zps18ff850f.jpg)
The barracks would be useful for loads of genres. It would make a nice retail kit.
It does look like the local constabulary are keeping an eye on that countdown too, though.....tick. tock, tick, tock.... :D
How did you do the lettering on the stack?
As well as plenty of photos of this magnificent set up how about a video?
So those unfortunate soles who are unable to attend can pretend their walking around it soaking up the beauty.
Blodwin (one of the unfortunate soles) :'(
...I think I'll leave anymore pictures until after the event, it just takes up too much time to post them lol ...
cheers
James

What are you using to make your tiled roofs? Do you cut out tiles and individually place them or are they some kind of embossed plastic, if so, care to share what brand you use?
Totes Amazeballs
(http://www.consolemonkey.plus.com/malamambo.jpg)
Not sure what Nottingham's answer to Alan Titmarsh is talking about as it looks like a simplified version of the conservatory at the Horniman...
http://www.horniman.ac.uk/about/events-at-the-horniman-museum-and-gardens
.....and that is the original from old Mr H's back garden.
;)
I've left the ornate giants alone as there are some hugely impressive ones out there and focussed my reply (would you like a copy too?) on 'small' garden types which would be more relevant. I've also left it off here so as not to derail or inflame....
Besides, I'm terrible with the latin names etc for plants, I'm better with the history and science.
I didn't even touch on the fact that he's backed a building up to his parterre. Such a fashion disaster!
Worst case scenario and you don't get time to do Flora: Chuck some brightly coloured aquarium plants in it as examples of almost extinct Martian native plant life.
It would look good on the table as a splash of colour.
Just a thought.....
Hmm, not keen on fish tank plants I'm afraid. We did have some simple ideas tonight though at the 'photo shoot' ;)
The sad thing is I'm not going to be able to play on it all :'(
cheers
James
How long til Salute now?
Darn it people, don't distract James from his task, I want to see the finished(?) table set-up asap... so hurry up James! :)
Oh, and where are those cobblestone streets from???
Wills plastic sheeting, available from most railway hobby shops
I looked it up on ebay, do they have larger than 00 scale?
Got the train lift 'motor' done :)
It is unfortunately hand powered but I do have a rudimentary video which I shall post after Salute as I don't know, can't be bothered to find out and don't have the time to look for a way ;D

Don't you have your serv... errm... hirelin... errrm.. friends, like Mason, Malamute and such distinguished gentlemen to operate this machine anyways lol
I know there's an Anglo-Japanese alliance (subject to wheelings and dealings in the corridors of power... or the needs of a good game ;) ) and that the table and all it's terrain are intended for gaming in Blighty, but... why is there is no Japanese script anywhere?
Not that there's much lettering period, but to take something like the Sapporo smokestack as an example, why not have Roman script down two of the sides and kanji alternating down the other two sides?
just a small suggestion - have you thought to run the chain over a small wheel so that it remains centered and runs smoother?
Thanks chaps :)
It's a good question :) Firstly, that is the Sapporo logo (same font etc), using English. Secondly, New Victoria is primarily a British enclave it just so happens that I've been collecting Japanese figures and Nick hasn't got his thumb out of his backside to sort the British out lol Thirdly, I already have the English style Victorian buildings and I'm expanding it as a range and this project is kind of the test bad. I do have some Japanese buildings from the period but they are for stall display and are needed else where :)
It would possibly make it worse as the chain is quite thick and needs room to coil up over itself (if that makes sense). A wheel would hinder this.
@Michi - A counter weight is a great idea and I might change it for one next year as there is no way of stopping the car at the top at the moment :?
I would like to add my thanks for all the support for this project over the years (started this four years ago :o and I hope to continue until the entire planet is built :D
cheers
James
I'm still confused (a state I reach easily, I admit): If New Victoria is British, why the Japanese flags and flower emblems then? ;D
Or has it been "ceded"? ;) :D
...and I hope to continue until the entire planet is built :DSlartibibblefast? :D
Brilliant stuff James. 8) Can't wait to see it for real (in less than 48 hours time... )
Slartibibblefast? :D
Did you have to weigh the cart down anything, Jim? To stay on the rails?
I have now but figures on the day will help :)
cheers
James
Ah, the chrysanthemum is the Imperial Japanese emblem and it's only on the Japanese neffs for now and as for the flags, I haven't printed out any British ones yet lol
cheers
James
I'm hoping you'll have a game at BLAM James?
They look great mate 8)
Yes, on the longest table available :D
cheers
James
I am gonna have to ask you for some tips on this as I need to make some for BLAM.
:D
If you're at Salute please do come over and see all of James' magnificent terrain; we're at table GC01 so hopefully we'll see some fellow LAFers there. If you're really, really, good, Malamute will show you the funicular railway in action.
I'll give you a hand if you like :)
No Tiffin card?
::)
;)
No problem, I'll give you a hand if you like :)
It's new feet and ankles he needs ...... lol
Great job on the cards Mark :D
EDIT and I just realised it was Paul you were offering a hand to and not James. D'oh.
It was rather nice to look at. Dr De'Ath was doing stirling work with the back drop too, particularly as his shirt blended so well with it :)
is it finished now or are You going to add to it substantially?
By the way: Did you have the doctor having a game on that or who did leave his fez on the table? lol
We need the official photographer "Abdul" Dr De'Ath to post his photos......I think he took some real beauties. ;)
I've just done the first batch of cards for the game at Salute tomorrow.
We're using a variant of Sharp Practice, which we've named 'Red Planet Ruckus' and the cards are used to determine order of movement etc.

Cards are photos of the 28mm figures we're using, tinkered with in Adobe Fireworks, printed on card stock and finally laminated in credit card sized pouches. Hopefully I'll get them all done before tomorrow!
Dr D.
I personally liked how the citizens of New Victoria are just going about their daily business while a battle rages on near by! ;)
did I miss the Blue Box somewhere?
From the photos of the par terre the box was definitely red (that's a plant one for Dean, though admittedly not a very good one!).
::) ::)
Bet it still smelt of cat wee though ;)
I can imagine a ghetto-esqueMartian slum complete with graffiti.
We need some more Martian terrain...
Really? Really really? Isn't it time to move on, James? Before addiction becomes obsession? lol lol lol
Or table space that is ~1,608m x 1,608m.
...
At 1/56 (28mm) that'll be ~2,585,688km2.
Or table space that is ~1,608m x 1,608m.
...
Wow very nice - what on earth is he from? Never seen that fellow before!
I've had to convert a couple of others using Japanese heads and they seem to have worked rather well :)
cheers
James
Very nice. The Venetians aren't going to like this :o
Do you mean those jumped up, over dressed, water loving foreigners?
;)

Yep, that's the ones :)
Your name shall go in the book!
Your name shall also go in the book!
You are gonna need a bigger book.
:D
Gentlemen, pointless bickering will get us nowhere...
Now, when the poncy, frilly, golden armoured water boys have buggered off we can get on with some seriousexplotationexpansion :D
cheers
James
Lovely minis that you have taken to another level. 8)
Your name is is burnt into the book!
Yeah, but not sure where the level is ;)
Can't you see it from down there?! lol
and a potentially very useful scenario item!
Dont rile him up, Bibbles, he has obviously got some new crayons.
:D
Seriously, you should have popped one or two of those into the Colonial Tales Painting Expedition...
Yeah, but not sure where the level is ;)
I was wondering how long it would be before my brazen plagiarism was pointed out lol ;)
I was wondering how long it would be before my brazen plagiarism was pointed out lol ;)
You do nothing by halves James.
what is the big chimney for?
Is that design going to break down into a number of possible kits when you are done?
No idea to be honest but it looks good and won't be stuck in so something else can go in its place :)
That's wonderful, James! If nothing else makes it to the Oshiro range the gateposts and walls with railings would be very welcome.
That is bloody brilliant! It might not be a chimney, it could be a hydro electric tower, a barracks for a company of Venusian Parrotmen askari or a processing unit for Martian opium (ok, so the last one is chimney-ish).
Well, yet another long term build comes to the fore, this time in the shape of The GREAT Martian Trading Company headquarters :)
Another great building in the making :)
My next force was going to be the British Martian Trading Company - looks like I'll have to create a new name for them ...

A pseudo industrial ecclesiastical dormitory in space?!?!?

Dave you can still have the "British Martian Trading Company."
"The Great Martian Trading Company" is already taken. ;)
This is exactly what I've missed about this place! Outstanding old chum. :-* :-*

I've started work on the 'Great British Martian Trading Company' too, so dibs on that one ;D
Not 'The Great British Martian Trading Company'........???
Splitters!
Nah, that's 'The Great Martian Trading Company of Britain', 'The Great British Martian Trading Company' is over there, "Splitter!"
What?
Not 'The Great British Martian Trading Company'........???
Looking the dogs wotsits.
Yeah, just think, he could make a career out of building architectural models lol
Nah ;)
Are the Aak Naks assocociated with Nick's Nacks? lol
It would be good to find a complete copy of Von Stypher-Dykes works.
I hear a lot of his work was later stolen by Dr. V. I. Agra and claimed as his own work some decades later.
Not a very upright chap, that one.
:D
Thanks chaps :)
It would be good to find a complete copy of Von Stypher-Dykes works.
cheers
James
They certainly look like a first edition pair and most unusual to see both volumes ;D
Shame there are no internal photos as you can tell by the quality of the illustrations. They were the hardest part to fake. ;)
Fakes are really easy to spot, though: Apparently the little grey aliens really have brown eyes, not the blue ones as in the fakes..
:D
Congratulations to a fantastic project Bibbly-San. :--)
what toy did You use?
Will you add perhaps few fenders on the sides?
Are you planning on adding some railings around the outside?
But...you have forgotten something:
It still needs a Bibblyflap.
:D
Looks like he has it under control Paul, the door appears to go from floor to ceiling already ;) :D
although "scratchbuilt" with You probably means digital model lasercut :D
But...you have forgotten something:
It still needs a Bibblyflap.
:D
You have to have rules for recoil when that bugger fires its gun, though!
;)
It's a torpedo launcher you daft bugger ;D
Blah blah blah
It's a torpedo launcher you daft bugger
Somthing else for the Sky Martians to board lol lol lol
It's a torpedo launcher you daft bugger ;D
Incidentally....have you ever thought of making some Neff 'wrecks'...?
:D
actually I would be very curious to learn about this concept of air-torpedoes, as I was contemplating about it myself. But I imagine they would be simply rockets?
>:D
cheers
James
Oh dear... What did you buy James? lol
(And how was 'Warfare'?)
Far too much. I'm not going to a show again as a punter, it's too easy to buy things lol
It was very busy; due, I believe, to Colours not being on. Although it will be next year apparently.
cheers
James

Mind you we were so busy, as we had record numbers at Warfare this year, it's no wonder we missed two slender streamlined individuals
Double the patrols next year
Anyway glad you enjoyed the day
Blodwin
Stone work to go on the balcony 'base', doors and windows of course and some masonry trim for the top and bottom to do. There are three like this and the fourth has a bigger door and will have some sort of protrusion to allow neffs to dock.
Mind you we were so busy, as we had record numbers at Warfare this year, it's no wonder we missed two slender streamlined individuals
Fine looking tower in the making there 8)
I must admit that I was expecting some kind of sandbag emplacements on those balconies but the railings look good… bit fancy perhaps ;)
When the great city of New Victoria was first constructed war with the indigenous Sky Martian population was not expected or indeed even considered. In fact the Martians were in awe of the way in which the Earther Great Powers constructed and build the city in such a short period of time. Little thought was given to constructing defensive works in favour of style and the fashions of the times.
Taken from the journal of Professor Ebenezar Von Stypher-Dyke, (University of Vienna,)written during his travels on Mars 1888 -1889.
Oh woe betide those decisions taken back then, if only they had known better and not trusted their unrealistic Earther attitude of superioty of Mankind in face of indigenous Sky Martian population, easy to subjugate but quite impossible to rule as the later incidents were to show.
- Taken from the Commentary to Journal of Professor Ebenezar Von Stypher-Dyke By Professor Augustus Schiffer-Brains, Department of Martian Studies, University of Åbo, 2nd Revised Edition 1902.
Where's the railing from Jim?
Is it going to form part of the walls at New Victoria?
Could be a mission objective for the big January game... ;D
Excellent. :)
I think with your permission Professor Augustus Schiffer-Brains will have to enter the scene now. We have a game at the weekend, he might have to make an appearance ;)

I do love trains, you know...
Train items will be commercialised at some point? ;D
Thanks chaps :)
Doing a decent but simple train kit might go down well, hmmm...
cheers
James
Do go on...
Your replicas look even better than the prototype!
So are you planning a lot if these?
When are you making the faces for the front?
:D
For now, these are sized to run on your homebrew track, right Jim?
They are mate when I make a kit version the wheels will be positionable to allow for any track size
cheers
James
if I make a kit version the wheels will be positionable to allow for any track size
Certainly does have potential mate, the only trick is making the gauge adjustable so it can fit a few different rails.
Doable, yes; practical, who knows :)
Then there's an idea of making and supplying 28mm rails to go with it...
;)
cheers
James
Excellent. I think I left my Mars mojo somewhere on the plains of Ooktaa. I best go look for it ;)
Very tidy needs a bit of dirt :-* :-* :-*

There's a ship builder?
Where does one find one of those....?
You won't be seeing that again in a hurry ;) lol
No idea, I only know a 'partial ship' builder... ;)
Good job he doesn't do it as a business really... Oh wait!
lol
From where did you procure your iron railings and gate? I need some for a Georgian Pleasure Garden.
'Old on, I ain't building you a ship o_o
*cough* Martian skiffs *cough*
The Red Fox never stays still for long ;)
cheers
James
lovely stuff :-* :-* :-*
They are so cute :D
They are so cute :D
However, I do worry that, being so small, the Martians may think that they can be pushed off of a bridge!
;)
They are more then welcome to try as it was so much fun last time lol
I live to entertain. ::)

::) :P

I can let you buy some at BLAM :D
cheers
James
Good man :D
Well you have to. If you lot don't show up, who'll shoot down Jim's 'nefs?
We're not playing vsf this year :'(
Cranes to move the cargo or what have you planned for that?
"Working crane" as in steam powered that would be impressive :D
Those are my crates! :o
I'd forgotten you had those. lol
And acquired legitimately as well lol
Makes a change. ;)
Tower is looking grand, a working crane will be impressive too, as will the glasshouse tea rooms on the top :D
You can get them small enough to fit inside something like this but there's no way I'm doing it lol
the glasshouse tea rooms on the top
I am thinking about swappable tops as well. The actual shape is a bit irregular so the tops will all be based on a square (or round) that fits on it and could be used elsewhere. Ideas include - tea house, folly, fortified, viewing gallery, balloon landing, larger neff landing; the possibilities are endless :D
But I do spy that you have missed rivets on the bracing ;)
Oh yeah, a bog standard japanese tea house would be alright too i guess.
Obviously it has the opposite effect on you.
What about breaking up the large expanse of brick with something? Maybe some stone heraldry or something?
Better not not give Malamute any involvement with the tower in games - he won't be able to reach the top lol
Somebody has to ask.......whats bigger?.....the wizards tower or the docking tower?
What about breaking up the large expanse of brick with something? Maybe some stone heraldry or something?
The crane looks great. Now to put one on a skiff or neff ;D
Thanks again :D
Will do tonight ;)
cheers
James

They don't really have Tetlys in Japan ;)
cheers
James
Never seen Tetleys over there but Guinness is really popular o_o

James
The new tenant has requested a bordello style sign in red and gold (some people really don't have any taste) lol
Good to see you back on Mars, Bibbly-San.
8) 8)
I really feel that we need to know just who that is.
;D
I like the greenhouse best! ;)
I really feel that we need to know just who that is.
The rower looks spot on! :-*
I know you joke but its would kinda make sense to have one full of exotic plants. (exotic for mars anyway) ::)
I really think you already know lol
Who knew that this would get to 100 pages o_o
Welcome to the 100 Club.
Bet you cant wait for the introduction to the secret handshake.
Who is this mysterious owner though? Must be a short man as he needs that tall tower lol ;)
;D
By the way, does he have a white furry cat as well?
I believe he does, but he wears it as a hat.
:D
Two black ones
Back to the subject at hand
Back to the subject at hand
That tower is great lovely detail
What are you going to do for the roof? Bell tower, light house or semaphore station?
Only getting the bugger back for derailing my threads at will.
and I think a small/medium sized clock addition on the top will do nicely :)
Oooh thats a nice idea, lovely touch. ;D
The roof will have two angles (shallow lower one and more acute upper one) and I think a small/medium sized clock addition on the top will do nicely :)
How about the face looking something like this?

But in red and gold, of course.....
...
Although a 13 hour clock is tempting...
I'm just going to have it that the clocks run a little slower ;)

If it involves exposed nipples then I'm out :?
It sounds like you have spent far too long in the company of weirdo's and tasteless reprobates, my good man.
;D ;D
Your painted finish always looks so professionally done! How do you find the weathering pastels as opposed to just painting on weathering detail? Is it easier to achieve a subtle effect?
At Salute or wherever someone will point out your 'mistake' :D
I'm a professional? lol ;)
Must resist...
Shame it's going to be torched by the Japanese in the game, or will it? lol
And I see that you have set the clock for Strictly.
;D
How defensible is the building going to be?
Koff >:D
So the International Press Corps is up for another thrashing then?
The use of bricks makes me wonder from where they got the water for the clay and the fuel for the ovens. The paving of the walkway does not look very reddish like I am used to see on martian rocks. I look forward to read some good and scientific explanations, I´m sure we have bright gentlemen and of course a few even brighter ladies over here who are more than capable to illuminate my ignorance!
BTW: Very well done James!

The canals on Mars are still flowing and there are plenty of wells and aquifers that go deep to the water table. The red colour everyone associates with Mars is from the dust swept up by the massive storms that plague the planet, coming from the soft, sandstone like, stone that is common. There are many different types of rock strata on Mars, just buried under the sand and dust. Quarries for the different stones are not too close but the designers of New Victoria have tried to utilise the same type of colours as would be found on Earth to help make it feel more like home and less alien. The ovens for the bricks are fed mainly by dung gathered from the local fauna which is a very good fuel source, if a tad pungent.
Quarries for the different stones are not too closeThis is what we all like to see: Some industrial installations like a quarry (or [clay] mine?) with steam powered cranes, drills and dredgers, conveyor belts, foremen and (four armed?) labourers. Just in case you run out of projects... :D

What is Le mode?
'Le Monde' is French for 'The World' and is a French newspaper. It was originally founded in 1944 but we've pushed the boundaries a bit with the history as it sound good as a name :)
cheers
James
In that case, I'm a bit disappointed that the journalist in one of the images isn't sucking on a Gauloises :D

What?! It is not authentic to the setting?! You have just ruined it all for me, you non-historical-correctness-bastard...

Might just take you up on that :)
Thanks everyone for your continued support :)
'Tis a good question :)

recreating 'home' is exactly what Victorian Colonial powers would do.

......but what is with the small 'building' at the left hand end of this piccie?
Is it for any particular use or just to make an interesting shape?
??? ???
The people demands Mars porn. When are you going to show us the full assembled spread in all its sumptuous glory?
Are you making an Ice Palace for the Japanese on Mars...?
Wonderful!
:D :D
Dunno as Photocnut are being arseholes so no one can see anymore :-[
This is going to be a long process to get all the pictures back up again both here and on other threads :(
