Title: Shock Trooper Color Scheme Test
Post by: Roebeast45 on August 21, 2010, 07:01:52 PM
Hi everybody,

Here are a couple of quick color scheme tests that I did on Wargames Factory's Shock Troopers. I wanted to see what the two face masks look like painted up and I think I'm going to stick with the smaller one. The larger mask with the face shield is just too cartoony although it would certainly work for a pulp or weird war type game.

I added backpacks from the Warzone boxed set which fit really well with these minis.

Now to try a winter scheme.

Had you thought of putting the helmet camo on the shoulder pads too? I like them too and although I thought I would never say this about Wargames Factory figures they are pretty decent minis.

I like the idea of a winter scheme.

Adding the camo to the shoulder looks pretty cool and is actually really effective at breaking up the figures outline when viewed from above.

The WW1 stormtrooper-style helmet cam works very well on them. I don't much like the shoulder pads themselves - too 40K for my taste - but Svennn's idea about painting them camo'd does look good. I agree the smaller mask looks better than the larger one.

I probably won't buy any of these, but I think they will be popular figures.

Please feel free to post more pics of them  ;)

the camo on the Shoulderpads is too much.i would paint the Body Armour in a different Colour than the Greatcoat.i seconded the Idea of a Winter scheme, think of the painted examples of the Dust Tactics Minis  ;D.i prefer the smaller Facemasks too
these Minis are pretty hot!Very nice Idea with WW1 Camo fits perfectly!i like the worn, dark Look. What about some Razor Wire on the Base, and Bayonettes? :D
Looking forward to see more!  :D

Nice work.

Have you posted these over at the Wargames Factory Forums - http://wargamesfactory.lefora.com/forum/category/painted-miniatures/ - as I'm sure they'd love to see them.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I like the idea of adding bayonets and the bases will be more finished when I decide my final scheme. I'm really just playing around with these at this point.

I'll keep posting them as I make them. :)

Here's my latest coffee break paint job. Some of you might remember the Genestealer Cult armies from Space Hulk. This was one of the coolest ideas that GW had in the early days but like so many cool ideas they were purged. Here's my interpretation using a Shock Trooper body and pistol arm.

I'm loving the genestealer hybrid! I also like your paintjob on the other models of course, and I like the models themselves too. Also the weapons look nice which really helps. I personally wouldn't go overboard with the WW1 references but that's just a matter of taste 8)

These are fantastic! This is the best I've seen these models look, and that's not to say I didn't think they looked good already.

Darn it I thought I had finally managed to forget these, but apparently not. I have to say the backpacks work well for me, these days I seem to prefer backpacks on all my modern models, its a shame none come with the set.

I still have no idea what I would need these for, but I can think of all sort of games I could start with these.

I'm kind of indifferent to the figures, but that hybrid is a great idea.

Another one. This time a Neo-Sov Rad Trooper. A Void rifle, chopped down space marine shoulder pads, and Warzone backpack.
