Title: Looking for a good Dragon Lady miniature
Post by: The Hooded Claw on September 05, 2010, 03:00:52 AM
Hey everyone, I'm trying to track down a miniature for a stunning, pulpy Dragon Lady or somethign that could be made into one with a little work. I've seen a few around, but cannot seem to locate them.

Any suggestions or pictures would be welcome.

Thanks,

-Eli

Top middle lady in the Pulp Figures Dangerous Dames pack (http://pulpfigures.com/catcode.php?range=Personalities&code=PHP&number=4&custID=9654321351283654362). Bonus points for doing a freehand embroidery dragon on the back of her dress.

That is one of them that I had seen. I am curious if their are any others with a little extra sex appeal.

Nobody loves the Pulp Figures line more than me, but their Dragon Lady is seriously underwhelming (her legs seem to be disproportionately short for one thing).

This villainess is 34mm tall, so she may be the wrong scale, but this is my idea of a Dragon Lady:

Wow, a great figure! Not really what I'm looking for in a Dragon Lady but certainly one to get for some other sort of pulpy villainess. Perhaps an air pirate of some sort.

I personally like this one - though you would have to paint her very differently from this picture (e.g. dark haired, some freestyle dragon design on her dress etc):

I have this one from Ironclad.

Not the most beautiful figure though. One on the right.

May just be my painting though ???
Would the Copplestone lady in black above suit as a younger Dragon Lady?

A lot of the old Clan War line is being re-released, and some of the various Geisha, Courtiers, Judges, etc. might make worthwhile Dragon Ladies:

You might also want to look at the Black Hat "Tales of the Dragon Kings" line:

There's the lovely Hanako by Hasslefree - unfortunately the main pic does not show when you click on the thumbnail for some reason  ???;)

Link to their Martial Arts range;

Well this is not a Dragon Lady, but you might like this cool new Chinese gentlemen just out from Reaper.

You guys are all great. I'll have to mill over the various options out there and perhaps bash one together from a fantasy sorceress mini or something if I can't find a truelly vampish Dragon Lady.

P.S. Kidterminal, love that mini from Reaper. Reaper does some cool personalities these days. I picked up their Uncle Sam to use as an undertaker for my Wild West stuff.

You could try these figures from Anima Tactics. I have some of these figures and they are very graceful sculpts.

You'll want to file down Aoi's ears though.

I think that some of the recommendations are drifting a little off-topic, so here's a picture of the original Dragon Lady as limned by the great Milton Caniff:

When I think of the Dragon Lady (and I have read some years of those Milton Caniff cartoons), I think of the attitude projected by the second figure from the left in Copplestone's BC-17 pack of Bolshevik Heroines in Copplestone's Back of Beyond range:

http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/range.php?range=BOB

It's that cigarette or cigar, and the attitude of power and confidence projected by that figure that impresses me.  And power is sexy...

On the other hand, I tend to think that whole pack of Pulp Figures referred to above can work for the Dragon Lady in different situations.

I had those figs at one time before I stupidly made a rash decission to get out of 28mm and sold off all my Pulp figures.

I had her painted up as Chinese and used her as the leader of my bandit gang. She is on my list to pick up during my rebuild and will definitely work for an "in the field" version of the Dragon Lady.
