I am about to start a new army for Field of Glory, a late carthaginian one. My first battle-group is a mix of 1/72 lead and plastic miniatures from different manufactures. Here are the first pictures:

Very very nice models, well done mate.
-
amazing, i love the paintjob you did on 20mm plastic stuff
-
Wow! This is brilliant Frank :o
Especially because my speed painted Carthaginian 1:72 FoG army that uses the same figures now looks like little turds with spears and shields on them... *sigh* :'(
-
:o Top notch!!!
-
Everything looks fantastic! I especially like the infantry. The shields and patterns on the clothing are nicely done. These will look great on the table.
I'd love to see a photo of the entire group when your done.
-
Inspirational work, thanks for sharing :)

Only a small update but with an important character…Hannibal:

Beautiful job, as had been said for 28, let alone 20.
Well done Frank.

I'm shocked.
can you post some step to step to see how you managed to reach this level?

OK, it will take some time, but I will post some step by step pictures!
In the meantime…here the next battlegroup...some Celtic cavalry....

Holy Celtic Cow!
even better than the others!
just one question: you have a undoubted skill, why do you use it on plastic kits?
couldn't you just use metal 28mm or 15mm?
i know it is more expensive, but the final result should be EVEN better!

:-*
Berry, berry nice!
-
@Sangennaru: I also have a lot of 28mm miniatures (Sudan, Samurai, East Africa, FIW, Fantasy and Star Wars). These are very good for skirmish games and small battles, but when it comes to big battles, I prefer 1/72 Miniatures. 15mm Miniatures are not my cup of tea…I don’t like to paint them.
My next battlegroup are some mumidian light horse. They are made more then ten year ago by Hät, one of their first miniature-sets. I really like these horses.

i really love your style. those are great!
-
These are lovely! I have a question, though. Are the plastics you mention the softer plastics of the likes of Italeri? If so, do you have any trouble getting paints to stick to them? Which paints do you use, by the way?
Cheers,
David

Nothing to add to what has already been said, but I do thank you for sharing. I love seeing work of this quality presented in an interesting, dramatic setting. Richard

What a stunning paintjob! I really love your painting style.
-
Very hard to add to the comments already posted except to say these are excellent, and would do any wargames table a favour by being on it. Your finish and basing style are superb and I would love to see the armies laid out for battle, although I would probably have to go and lie down afterwards. Works of art!!!!!!

:-*
More great minis.
Love the horses and Hannibal came out a treat!
-
Wow. What a way to get motivated first thing in the morning!!!! Other than Hat, who makes these figures? The elephants are calling my credit card.
Could anyone point me to the right collection of figures, please....?!!!

Just... :o. Truly beautiful work there!
-
Oh gosh!!! :)
lovely paintjob, i renew my compliments!!! =)

:-*
This is my favorite era of Ancient warfare. Two well matched armies (making for excellent wargaming), each with nice units making painting them pure fun.
As usual it is a joy to view your mini's. Fantastic work on the really tough stuff... skin, shields, horses, armor...
Damn, I wish you were my next door neighbor because I would love to have the opportunity to play with these two magnificent armies!
Keep up the great work. :-*
-
Thank you boys! :D
-
Beautiful :-*
I would like to know how you deal with mold lines and priming - seems like there are many different ways to handle soft plastic.
-
They're amazing. :)
-
Jesus Jones Frank, I've not seen this thread before
Those are fantastic, no wonder you won the LPL
-
@El Greco:
For the mold lines I use a scalpel like this one:
This scalpel is very sharp and you can remove the mold lines very easy. The problem is, after one or two days it is getting blunt and you have to get a new one.
For priming, I use Games Workshop spray-paint. It is very expensive, but has a nice slight rough surface.
-
Thank you !!

Excellent Frank :)
