Title: What ever happened to The Figure Trader?
Post by: uti long smile on September 29, 2010, 08:19:10 PM
Just reminded about these guys from another thread?

Anyone know if they still have a store or have been bought up by someone else?

Oh, and before I forget to ask (I know, I asked a several times before, but maybe this time ;))

Does anyone of you gents own the "Sabotage" rules from "TheFigureTrader"?

I have a printed copy by my self, but the problem is that one page is double-printed therefor an other one is missing.
I'm searching for a copy of the missing page.

Cheers

Yeah, I've wanted that drop ship for quite a while.  I had a bunch of pics of it at one time, not sure where they went.  I've never seen it in the flesh, but it was a very decent size compared to 28-30mm figs.

I'll see if I can find more pics...

Yes, it looks like it has a no nonsense approach to scale vehicles, if it needs to be big to be correctly scaled then make it big. Very nice.

Hei,

got some contact today with Steve, the guy behind "Sabotage".
Asked him about the minis.
They were sold to Andy Turlington, Sgt. Major Miniatures, who will re-release them as part of his existing range.

Sadly, the vehicles are not available yet, and Steve is not sure if they will be  :'(

Steve is now working on that:

Hey guys, sorry I didnt see this post earlier.  Yes, I bought that figure line.  My mold maker is working on them now.  He is putting them on their own bases, I dont do plastic bases.  Once that is done, he will mold them up, and I will start casting and get some photos.  I hope to have them out by the end of the year at this point...

He didnt have the drop ship available for sale when I bought these, or else I would have snatched it up, that is pretty!  I dont do resin, but know someone who does.  I need to e-mail him to see what can be done on that front...

Andy

Don't make the solid bases too bloody thick as they're a bugger to free the minis from otherwise, (just cause you don't do plastic), remember there's resin scenic bases in use and it's easier to cut a tab than drill away a solid lump of metal ;).

I havent seen them yet, but they shouldnt be too thick.  He knows how the bases are on the rest of my figures, he has been making all of my molds for me.

In a pinch, I do have the master molds, and could cast you up some of those if you are interested in buying into the line, they would have the tabs that you could cut away.  I dont want to make things more difficult for anyone, it is just that I have over 400 different product codes in my inventory, and none of them use plastic bases, I wanted to offer these in a matching style.  I will do what I can to make my customers happy, within reason of course...
