It's high time for another painting contest! This month, we want you to paint any one pack of Strange Aeons figures. Conversions are acceptable so long as the model remains clearly recognizable as belonging to the Strange Aeons line. You can either post a picture here or send it to contests@strange-aeons.ca. Entries will be judged on December 1st, so get painting!
The prizes:
1st Place - Our next three miniature releases
2nd Place - Our next two miniature releases
3rd Place - Out next miniature release
-
"any one pack" - does that include the Yellow King from the magazine?
-
Nope...sorry. Just any one of the packs from the line of figures. So, Lovecraft and Zombie Lovecraft are out as well as the Suicide Cultist...
-
Oh well... next time maybe
-
Quick question as this will be my first time participating in the contest.
Pictures, is it 1 single photo only. Or can it be "1 picture" containing multiple smaller picture showing details and the model from all angles? I myself would at least want to show the front and back of the miniature :)
-
As this is our first painting contest we are pretty light on the rules...that said, I would like to see one large photo and some smaller detail shots if you desire. Scenery is optional...pretty much I just want to see some painted figures that are better than the ones I paint ( :(). Also, we will be populating our gallery with these images. Really excited to see what everyone produces.
I should also note that I am judging all entries based on what I 'like'...which may include, good paintjob, neat photo, cool colour choices, conversions, general eldritchness...so, anything really. Who can say what's wrong with my brain or how I shall vote on the day... ;)
-
One entry per person? ;D
-
I wouldn't stop you from entering twice...with two different entries.
-
I hope this picture is OK, otherwise I will take new ones tomorrow when my camera batteries have fully recharged.
Scrawny One's blister, by Alexander "Anatoli" Kawczynski

Those look great!
Two entries so far...keep 'em comin'.
-
No WIP pics, but my Werewolf is coming along satisfactorily... despite a stretch of looking worryingly like a Giant Wereraccoon while I worked on the face!
(wolves often seem to be darker-furred around the eyes. For a while this one had a flat-out raccoon mask going...)

Hello,
My name is Elton and I have had the honor of playing some Kulten with Uncle Mike as he develops and playtests the rules. I am not a big Cthulhu guy (getting better) but when Mike said I could give automatic weapons to mummies I was hooked.
Here is my painted Assorted Undead pack #1. The construct and conglomerate are unchanged but the mummy has been given a .30 machine gun and is currently creating havoc for cultists everywhere...

Updated - better pictures of my Kult members looting a rival lair after a victory...
-
I'm gonna burn you on this Sir. You will hafta enter one picture as opposed to three...
love that Mummy, but not on the battlefield...
-
I knew that was coming. The battery died in my camera as I playing around and totally forgot to get a group shot. Will get a group shot done up before the deadline...
-
Still time to get your entries in! Win eldritch prizes!!!
-
The initial message says prizes on Dec 1st; what's the actual deadline for submissions?
The werewolf progresses; eyes and teeth will be done tonight and possibly (finally!) the fur, then it's just the base to do.
-
As long as your image reaches us by the end of the day on November 30, you're in!
-
Just a couple days left! Get your entries in! Big Prizes!!! :)
-
Here's my take on the formless thing :)

I have another couple of packs on the go so hopefully I'll be able to post another entry before the deadline.

There wolf!
-
Updated the photos in my original post. Now my undead cult members are seen looting a rival cult's lair after my mummy and construct have killed the brave ones and chased off the not so brave...
-

Ah - I see I am not the only one with the altar in the circle... I just finished mine a few days ago... but I think yours looks better than the one I did
-
My Strange Aeons order arrived today, a day before the deadline (he says, waiting for the glue to dry...)
-
Sent my entry to the contest e-mail as I can't quite figure out how to get my pics on here. I assume if I have photos at photobucket I point this site at them by using the html url of the picture, entered in the middle of the img code that appears? Thanks.

Here's my application for the speed round (miniatures arrived yesterday, and got painted after work today):
Fishmen
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a100/myincubliss/DSCN1884.jpg)
Scrawny ones
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a100/myincubliss/DSCN1892.jpg)
Hopefully after work tomorrow I'll get to finish up the bases with some grass, add some weathering around the edges of the fishmen's robes, and probably give the fishmen's scales another going over (they didn't come up as shiny as I'd intended)
-
Tragically, my Serpentmen didn't make it passed the assembled, based and primed stage, so I will just pretend I was getting ready for the *next* painting contest. :D
-
Thanx to all the entrants...some fantastic entries! More news later today...
-
Some pretty cool stuff here guys! I especially like the squinty-eyes on the one scrawny.
How did I miss this thread for a month?
-

I'll be emailing the winners shortly in regard to getting your prizes out. Thanks to everyone who entered - we were thrilled with the number of participants!
-
Awesome! :D
Btw, would it be OK if I posted these pictures on my blog (and if possible the other entries as well) to further promote the game and the Strange Aeons range on the internet outside this forum?
-
Grats to all the winner's.
-
Anatoli, please feel free to keep doing what you're doing and post away! We're going to have to make you our unofficial Director of Scandinavian Marketing at this rate :D
-
Haha!
Thanks, I'll probably link back to this forum while I'm at it as well :)
-
Just got the email notification through from Scott at Uncle mikes, Great news, thank you very much and congrats to the other winners too.

Well my msn acted funny throughout this day so I just had to install the latest version of windows live messenger. Will sound off when I get the mail. Also, congrats to the remaining winners :)
-
Nice work and congratulations to all that submitted entries.
-
All those great looking serpentmen has inspired me to try my hand on the couple i have...some great looking minis all around...
-
Well done to all & considering what a chaotic month I had in November just happy to have completed the serpentmen & have them placed third :)

Congrats to all.
Was hoping to take part in this but my order still hasn't shown up so maybe next year's paint off.
(Out of interest any UK buyers how long did it take for your orders to be delivered from Canada, currently four weeks in).

Think the last order of mine took around 6 weeks to arrive, you just have to be patient and wait for the postal service to wake up >:(
-
hi commander,
that's weird, Only one of my orders from Uncle mike have taken more than 2 weeks, and usually arrive within a week.
The only exception was one order which customs held onto for a few weeks before informing me there was the usual extortion and protection money to be paid before it could be delivered.
It may be worth checking with your local sorting office in case it's being held to ransom.
Hopefully they'll turn up shortly.

Fair do's yeah have suffered the fate of the customs sting many a time, but always get a card through.
Will hang fire a few weeks, but didn't want the Christmas post to impact on it.
Cheers all.

I got my order to Sweden after 1 week, I thought that was extremely fast - but I'm not complaining. Placed another order through the Swedish retailer now which went out a few days ago, will see how long that one takes to arrive.

I placed an order about a fortnight into November, which arrived Monday.

Congrats to the winners!!
-
Congratulations to the winners!
I especially like the orange-robed serpentmen. Is the idol behind them scratchbuilt?

Cheers, it took some work to get a really rich colour
The idol is from a company called The Square, they frequent UK shows (where I picked it up) but their website doesn't have many pictures so I can't tell which item it was http://www.thesquare-wargames.co.uk/shop/
