Title: Prizes!
Post by: Hammers on November 16, 2010, 07:19:45 PM
As promised there will be prizes for those who made it to the podium in the BS2 - CD competition and it is going to work like this:

Shortly I will post a set of prizes in this thread of which each of the winners get to pick one. Elysium64 gets to pick first, then Christian and last gamer Mac. There will be more than three prices to choose between. The reason I do it this way is because I have no idea what each item is worth to each contestant. Hopefully getting to pick before the others gets you to pick at least what what you detest the least.

OK, simple enough?

I must see, who gets the complete discography of Michael Bolton.  :)

Item #1: 5 harpies

By courtesy, immodestly enough, of myself. These five harpies I painted for LPL S04 but they need a better home. Think of them as Rescue Harpies if you like.

Item #2: 2 Celtic deer hound reliefs from Monolith

Item #3: Roman bath from El Viejo Dragon

Item #4: Plastic fern twig from The Hobby Lobby, US

Item #5: 1/54 Equestrian miniature of Alexandre the Great from Time Machine Miniatures

Although I think the Harpies are beautiful, loved and voted for this entry at the time, I prefer models to paint myself. Of the other prizes there is nothing I actually need for current or planned projects (apart from the potato to provide much needed sustenance, just not to sure how well it would survive the journey to the UK lol) so I will happily defer the choice to Christian and Gamer Mac.
I am just happy to have taken part in the competition, winning it being a bonus. The real prize for me as I said earlier is to have found my mojo again.
Thank you Hammers for organising this and everyone for making it such an enjoyable experience.

OK, you shall have the potatoe then, elysium. Please PM me your snail mail address.

Over to you, Christian, Gamer Mac.

But I was going to use the potato as a proxy for my Warhammer ... er... thing.

I'd like the dogs, please :) Especially from such a fine institution.

Next one's on me, though ;) (prize, that is, for the next competition).

The dogs are yours. PM me your snail mail address, please. Gamer Mac?

WOW I thought you were kidding with the prize thing.
The ferns would be great as you said you can never have to much jungle.
Thank very much :D

OK then!

1st Prize, a potato, goes to elysium64. What a true sportsman that man is.
2nd Prize, a set of dogs which I shall send to Australia with the next prison ship to Christian. Lets hope they are not quarantined for very long.
3rd Prize, a plastic twig, goes to Gamer Mac, may it come to good use in your 'Nam jungle.

A round of applause, please.

I think I shall confer with my fellow BS admins, Prof. Witchheimer and Overlord, to see if we henceforth should let the Build Something contest also be known as "The Potato Cup"

Well done to all involved, including Hammers, for hosting this wonderful event.

Lets hope this inaugural "Potato Cup" is the first of many!

Again well done all!

You could cook and eat that potato, but save the skins in an urn and use that as the trophy, like The Ashes.

Does this mean that the theme of the next build something contest will be a mash-up?   lol

Very nice prizes Hammers and I applaud your generosity.   :)

Gloriously absurd prizes. Almost as much fun as the contest!  lol

I like the idea of "The Potatoe Cup" for future Build Something contests, too.

Great prizes Hammers, and a jolly good way of getting rid of your surplus vegetables and miniatures.
That Roman baths set is rather good, isn't it.
 :)

It's yours if you want it. Well, obviously not as a prize, that would be insulting to the winners, but for trade.

Thanks, but I don't think my wife would understand  :)

Rather nice models though...  ::)

I got the for for LPL 4's Conan theme round. I realized when I unpacked them that my entry would be Conan Saves Big Naked Ladies from the Nest of the Harpies. While very much in bang on theme, I felt it was laying it on it a bit thick.
