The Mars Expeditionary Force is finally taking shape. I'm just awaiting reinforcements from Black Pyramid in order to get them finished. Anyway, here's the first lot of Royal Marines with HMAS Nimbus lurking in the background. Not all Marines will be armed with these assault rifles; along with Ether weapons only a few will be assigned to each unit.
I'm still undecided with the bases as I want to use them for campaigns other than Mars. I'm thinking of placing removable flock or litchen on the bases depending on the campaign.
I also haven't made my mind up what flag I want to give the standard bearer, somethiing historical but different, any ideas?

This is my favourite figure from the bunch, the signaller will keep comms open between the ground forces and the supporting nefs:

Superb, hopefully I'll get to meet these on the table some time soon.

These look great. Excellent work on the conversions.

Thanks chaps!

I'd love to take the credit Mike but the head and weapon options come with the figures from Black Pyramid. I've got some heads with goggles too and still deciding what to use them for.

Great work Cheeks, (even though I hate the figures) ;)
-
Great,TC. Will we be seeing little Blue bothered Men of Mars to?
-
Looking great so far TC. As for the flag, are you sure that it has to be historical? Maybe a white ensign as a base and a red planet in the middle, maybe with a crown over it and VR to differentiate it from a Japanese flag. Just a thought.
-
Very nice work . You have made a much better job of the signaller than me, I wasn't sure exactly what i was painting!
My force may meet yours on the Red Sands , though we are off to Venus and Mercury first.

Love those marines. :-*
And the signaler is especially filled with character!
As for the flags... check out Warflag.com (http://www.warflag.com/flags/wss/wsseng3.shtml)
I found this one in the War of the Spanish Succession section...

Right bottom is the one I like... but they have a bunch on the site for many different wars.

Oooh thanks chaps
Great,TC. Will we be seeing little Blue bothered Men of Mars to?
This can be arranged and they can leave little blue prints all over the Martian sands.
Mors, any chance of a pic or two of your forces?
Ray, thanks for the link, that flag does look good doesn't it.
Chairface, good idea. I was thinking of something similar for a colonial militia but your idea is better.
-
How about using a union flag but with Britannia in the middle. Bit of fiddly painting but would look great.
(Love the figures :-* :) )
cheers

TC...
How do the Black Pyramid minis compare to other ranges suck as Ironclad, Redoubt, Foundry and other ranges you use for your VSF force in size and height?
My next force will possibly be British. Or maybe more red blue coat Americans.
I love those helmets with helmet spike and gas masks! :-*

Keep going with the Americans. You can never have too many in one army!

Yes, more Yanks.
One day we shall rule the universe!

Are they planing on comeing out with any other ranges? like Prussians or Martions for that matter?
-
They look bloody marvellous old chap. Don't listen to the mullet headed midget, the figs look fine.

I will try and post something at the weekend, been mucking about with the bases too even though I dont normally worry about them too much, by the time I get to the bases Im fed up with painting the figures. o_o
Off to see War of the Worlds tomorrow, hopefully that will spur me on.

Thanks old bean!
Mors, looking forward to seeing them. Enjoy WOTW you lucky thing!
Ray, took a quick comparison pic for you. Not the best quality I'm afraid. From left to right (for those not savvy with the ranges), Black Pyramid, Redoubt, Ironclad and Parroom. I included the Parroom figure as it is similar in scale to many of Foundry's ranges.

Lovely toys, old chap! Although you know there are other things we would rather see, nudge nudge... ;)
-
Remeber the Parroom British Infantry are much smaller than the other figured in there range, mind you they oop at the moment.
I'm using Black Pyramid, possibly converted WF , and a few redoubt for my expeditionary force. My Parroom will be serving on Mars and will be reinforced by old Foundry, Empress and Rapier miniatures .

Ray, took a quick comparison pic for you.
Thanks, TC!
They all look super fantastic and I wouldn't have a problem mixing them up together.
You know it's only time before I do Brits... how can you be into VSF and not do the Brits??? ;D
-
Hey Neil they are very nice indeed. :-* :-*
Nearly missed this thread.
Where are the figures from?
Edit - Never mind I managed to find the original thread. Keep up the good work with the lightspeed painting :D
