I'm thinking of a Hound of the Baskervilles scene for my next diorama. Any suggestions for the hound? So far, I have a large dog from a Ral Partha Ravenloft set (If I remember correctly):

but I'd like to hear from the miniature scholars of this board about alternate choices.

Well, I think Reaper's "Moor Hound" may hint of something. I painted one for LPL last year.

But there are more. Put "hound" in their search box and you'll find various hellish canines. Heresy, Gamezone and others make demonic-looking beasts. Something like Ral Partha's war beasts (http://www.connectstores.com/ralpartha/images/02-214.jpg) could work if you're looking for more natural look. Depends on how you envision that creature.

What about him from Enigma modells?

Dolmot's advices are sound if you are going for the more fantastic breed of dog. If you want a little more realism I suggest Vendels mastiffs or the early Citadel warhounds (not GWs horrible chaos hounds).

Thanks for all the suggestions. Vendel mastiffs look great, and the leaping one would suit what I have in mind. Any european stockist, perchance?

Those do look great.
Reminds me of that power forward for georgetown University in the 80's, "Baskerville Homes". What a great name.

Forgive me if I 'm confused by the film/video versions, as it's been quite some time since I've read the original story, but wasn't the hound a large canine, 'made up' to look like a beast of hell? Wouldn't a fantasy fig, with the distorted features made to look like mask and 'paint' be apropos?
Edit: And, as I think he was supposed to have been driven mad with hunger, somewhat emaciated?

If I remember correctly, the hound's head was coated with some phosphorus-like substance to make it glow in the dark. I'd like to recreate the look of Sidney Paget's drawing. Here is one of his renderings of the hound:
