I have used Delta Ceramcoat Acrylics for years when painting horses but when I replaced my complete range on returning to Canada they seem to be very 'greasy', streaky and do not cover over aq black undercoat.
Anyone else experienced this and is it due to a formula change?

I use a white dry-brush over black for my base coat, so my results may be different. That said, I just recently started using Ceramcoat. It is slightly thinner than the Americana & Folk Art acrylics I normally use, but it covers nicely & works well with the other colors.

I use a variety of acrylics including Ceramcoat. I have seen no change in formula for Ceramcoat. But I have noticed that some primers do not work well with acrylic paints. You might try changing primer.

I use quite a few of these "craft" paints under various brands and have often found I have to buy the same colour two or three times to get a good bottle. Not ideal but they are cheap enough to discard. Basically I think the qc is none existent and you have probably just hit a bad batch.

When that happens to me, I can normally fix it with a good shaking. I assume they sit on those shelves for a while, so they need a good shake.
I actually rubberband them to a power massager and let it shake them for a while. They work great after that.
Rarely, it doesn't help, and it's just a bad bottle.

The formula was indeed changed, but has been improved/corrected.
I use Ceramcoat Brown Iron Oxide as my "basic" brown. When I bought a few new bottles last year, I found they were slightly lighter and certainly did not cover as well.
I contacted Ceramcoat and was told there a formula change had affected some colors but that it was corrected. They even sent 2 bottles of the revised formula free. Although improved, I can't say the new stuff matched the old stuff, but it is indeed better than the changed formula.
Also I was told the new improved formula has a cap seal that says "Made in USA" and the main label has a Lot Number. So look for that now when buying Ceramcoat.
Also -- the paint color names no longer state whether they're opaque, semi-opaque or transparent, so buyer beware. Ceramcoat used to have detail about this on their website, but the last I checked (months ago), that info was gone.

Thanks for the replies. Ceramcote seems to be going out of favour here in Montreal as all the art shops and most hobby stores are running down their stock.
I will try some more aggressive shaking prior to use next time and hopefully that will work.
