wow, this thing was a bear...I guess I am used to painting single figures or small units but this took more hours than I thought it would. 4 bulls, 3 priests,4 kids, and a wagon!
Very enjoyable overall..let me know what you all think!

Very nice painting, I like your chosen color scheme and the variety on the oxen. The wagon looks a bit strange constructionwise, but that may be due to the designer's intention?! I would have thought the front axle attached under the wagon, but I havn't seen the thing in real, so ...
Anyway, great painting!
-
hell, that's great  finally a painted version of that thing. Fantastic job!
-
very nicely done. I like the rocking rickety look from the wagon not being flat on the ground. Are those vampire kids?
-
really great chariot. where did you find it ?
-
Great job Tbroadwater. Your painted photo does a lot more for the figure than West Wind's image.
Where did you find it ?
It is from West Wind's Gothic Horror range.

WOOOOOOOOOOW. Awesome!
-
thank you all for the feeback!!! The axle might be off it was hard to tell, it did have a notch in the support that runs under the chair section and the axle seems to fits in there. I was never quite sure while I was assembling it hahah...
-
Stunning work   I love the way you have dropped the front it looks more sinister :)
-
Nice one Todd :) I really like the oxen, greta blnding on them :) Now I feel inspired to have a go at mine, it still lies in its packaging somewhere buried deep in the lead mountain
-
As the High Priest of the Golden Arches would say: "I'm lovin' it"...
-
Great job with the painting there, broadwater. Mine did however not turn out that tilted towards the front. I can't rember if I converted it slightly.

Ahhh! It's frightening me! Reminds me of the Childcatcher from "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!" Even though that is a family film, as a little kid that fellow terrified me.

Lollipops! Lollipops!
Great model you have there. Really impressive. But I don't like it, mummy. Make it go away.
-
great find, Plynkes
I've discovered the prototype model :D

Plynkes - You are not kidding there, I was also petrified of him. Especially when he looks through the toy shop window.

Todd, awesome painting. And with something that big and impressive you'll be able to use it for lots of games. Or rather, you'll make excuses to use it in lots of games.

How could you say such a thing :o My avatar is the epitomy of all things good and decent in this world
I was thinking what a great idea it woudl be if somebody produced a childcatcher figure. He would make an awesome sculpt, full of character :?:
-
excellent stuff!
-
haha, thank you all for the kind words!!! And the reference images were very appropriate!!! Good stuff. I do plan on using this model whenever possible in the future, we will see how it feels placed in different scenarios or time periods...the childcatcher figure would be a great idea!
-
If you really want to be sinister have a chuck wagon leading in front of this one... hehehe... sort of Hansel and Gretalish!
Very nice work... I still want to spend some time with your miniature collection looking at all the goodies! :)

If you want more inspiration, visit this place :
http://www.kriminalmuseum.rothenburg.de/Englisch/engframe.htm
An interesting museum in the town of Rothenburg on the Tauber which was used in the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (it provided the village/town setting) and the kiddie catcher wagon sits outside the museum doors.
If you thought the wagon was scary, you should tour the museum with a ten year old....I think he described it as "five floors of gothic horror, with an annexe showing how to torture witches" on the postcard home.
(Oddly enough we went there on honeymoon too, but that's another story)
-
A great figure beautifully painted.
p.s. I think even Darth Vader would be scared of the childcatcher!!
-
People need to put warnings on posts that contain the childcatcher from Chitty, Chitty Bang Bang! I now have to go and change the underpants!
I may have to sue!
Definately the most scary character ever... Hanibal Lecter...Pah! He merely gives me an uncomfortable feeling. The child catcher gives me stomach knotting terror.
Love the model of the wagon and added denziens. Have just painted a pile of the Kindersnacht stuff.... need the wagon now..... (well the person I am painting them for needs the wagon.

Rothenburg has been used as a backdrop for many fims/adverst etc. Truly an amazing place if you ever get the chance to visit, do! It certainly will inspire anyone who wants a Bohemian backdrop to their Gothic Horror games.

Great work there! I've now got mine out of its 'half cleaned up' storage box and am still trying to work out the positioning of 4 pieces - 2 are possibly to 'attach' to the oxen (approx 4 cms long with nail on one side and a spike near either end) although I can't work out how. there are also 2 small flat oblong pieces (112mm X 7mm) with a nail or similar sticking out - Ihave no idea on these at all!
Any help appreciated!
Dave

Brilliant work :o gotta get myself one of those
Cheers Ian
-
A grainy pic of my own attempt. The wagon is somewhat converted and not all vanmpire kids are included in the kit.

(I hope to get a new macro lense for my digital slr next week.)

Nice stuff. Incidentally, Chitti Chitti Bang Bang was on at the weekend and even in my advanced years the child catcher still gives me the creeps: "There are children here somewhere...I can smell them".
-
excellent Hammershield! Thank you for putting up an image of your own..I like the addtion of the chains and the children being included inthe scene. Shows a good deal of scale. Did you make the harness object that controled the bulls?
also, I like the girls with white hair...very creepy
-
Hammershield, Who is driving the wagon. I can't quite make him out. I presume he is not the original monk driver?
I also scond Tood's comments about the white haired child, very spooky indeed :)
-
Yes, I did the harness bits myself. I couldn't figure out what to do with the provided parts and an iron plated wagon seemed to call for chains, yokes and a full brace of oxen. The fat carter is Mr Hench from Eureka's Pax Limpopo.

Dave,
I used those oblong rectangular section to create the hitch section that is mounted to the front of the cart....you can see it best in the last photo in the post (it's hard to see in the others because it goes between the two bulls that are pulling the cart.
Hope that help..I had no idea what i was doing with the structure myself LOL

Well, there you go... Just what I tried to say.
Me, I just said to myself "hammershield" I said "Bugger these incomprehensible little fiddly-bits. You just go ahead and make yourself a scratchbuilt yoke and chain contraption for them oxen."

Thanks! Can't quite make it out on the picture - I think I'll add some chains etc although, having said that, it has gone back into it's box as I have just received a bunch of old Garrison fantasy and realised I no longer have room in my hobby 'box room' for anything bigger than a 6m Celt..........
Normal service to be resumed once the builder turns up, puts a window in the attic and I can then create a slightly larger playroom for myself...............
In the meantime I'm painting up a bunch of Artizan WW2 Germans for my 'Pulp' ideas....................if I ever finish any I'll post. Eek!
