Title: Puritan/Witchhunter Hats
Post by: The Travelling Man on January 26, 2011, 01:54:22 AM
Gents,

Am attempting a wee build of a puritan witchhunter posse (cue Mr Kane) for CiC and Mordheim using various plastics.  In planning it out I'm stumped on headgear- thoughts currently are something from Warlords' Pike & Shotte or purchasing and decapitating a bunch of Eureka Witchfinders.  Any options I may have missed?  Need about six of these style of tall, wide brimmed hats.

cheers,

TLM

Reaper has ab pack of hats, one of which is a Puritan style; the sprue the hat is on is available separately. If you have a use for the other three, the $2.68 for the sprue wouldn't be too horrible...mostly.

Why not have a go at sculpting them yourself?

I am of the same breed but I managed to make a bicorne from the lead metal you find around the cork of a champagne bottle. The exercise was very much stimulated by the champagne. Highly recommended!

You actually effectively get two Witch Hunter hats on the Reaper sprue, as the Wizard Hat becomes a Witch Hunter hat with the mere removal of the pointy top part...

Warlord Games also sells sprues of metal puritan hats individually, although they may be slightly small for standard-size plastic GW Empire-type figures:

Prepainted and assembled at that; perfect for those of us shy with brushes. ;->=

Is this the stuff that Fantasy Flight put out? Aren't the figs rather large?

Had some of theirs when they were being flushed by distributors, but sold before I really got a look a 'em. I'd not have let these particular ones go, though.

I may be wrong, but I think that these are the ones released by FFG (also available painted):

I think the Demon Hunters and the other pre-paints that come on round hard black plastic bases were released under Rackham auspices during their ill-fated attempt to move into the pre-painted figure market.

You're completly right.
The Demon Hunters are/were released by Rackham Entertainment.

The FFG ones are those of the Cadwallon board game.
