Title: Future War Cops Painted for My Next Project
Post by: Sturmpioneer on January 29, 2011, 03:36:54 AM
Like you've never heard that line before!  These are almost done.  Need a bit more black wash to hide some mistakes.  Then as soon as the weather cooperates I'll spray them shiny, then dullcote.  After that I think I'll gloss the jackets and boots.  Really enjoyed the figures and was totally inspired by others pj's on this site.

Really well done, you have captured the look of the inspiration quite well. What department are they from? I think a semi gloss might give more of the shiny leather look on the jackets than a full gloss. :)

Nice work. They look the part, although the jackets at present look like they could be leather.

Like the red lenses, suit the look, although with my current focus all I can think of is a dodgy 70's tv cop show set in a galaxy far far away... SITH Police! Freeze Jedi!   :D

Only things to suggest is a little bit of blacklining where the weapons meet the hands, sleeves and glasses. With the black, if you want a really subtle highlight for for VJ German Grey, (practically black), very light blends on the raised areas and you're done. A bit of gloss on the cap peaks would distinguish the two materials as well.

Cheers

The Commander

Very nice, those Copplestone cops are nice figures.

Regarding the photo of the real cops, well, the one on the right looks scary enough, but his buddy looks as if he has just let one go and is shaking his breeches out.  :D :D :D

Thanks for the colour tips.  How do you get a semi gloss?

Nice cops! Very imposing I might add! I like how you have kept the uniform dark yet 3D I find that very hard to do after a highlight of grey!

What state or country are those cops from? They can't be American, they have to be Mainland European (only way to explain the slightly amusing uniform.) The black and white pokka-dot tie and the jackboots are quite up there I must say!

Sturmpioneer, Testors used to make a semi gloss brush on clear coat, I beleive they still make a spray version as well. I am still usung an old bottle, so not sure if they still have it available.

The real cops are the Philly Highway Patrol.

Looks like I'll be checking out my local hobby shop for some grey and testors.  Thanks everybody.

I was watching my DVD of Mystery Men the other day when it struck me how close the police uniform was to the EM4/Copplestone figures . Even closer than the guys pictured above .

In the movie they drive around in hot-rod police cars with huge rear wheels . Very inspirational . 8)
