Post by: smirnoff on January 31, 2011, 04:28:17 PM
Anyone done Fremen, Harkonnen and Sardukar in 6mm? If so can you illuminate my ignorance as to whos miniatures to look at?

I've recently been looking, for any scale of Dune figures but not much in the way of luck. :'(

In terms of 6mm, bacchus sudan mahdist riflemen could be converted to fremen, and the bacchus command horizon human infantry could make sardukar. then for hover tanks and ornithopters Ground Zero games do the 1/300 dirtside. You could trawl through the TMP manufacturers search function for 6mm figures
Thats the most I can advise  :(

For Harkonnen, you can find some nice miniatures from Dark Realm Miniatures.

Pax Arcadian Industrial Infantry :

For the Fremen, perhaps the Pax Arcadian scouts :

For the Sardaukars, the Pax Arcadian Special Forces :

And the Pax Arcadian light infantry could be used as Atreids :

I don't know if you have or need one, but Irregular Minis has a 6mm Sandworm.

What kind of rules would you like to use for this project? I believe that Epic Armageddon could be the good option as the W40k style of fighting (fire AND close assault) is close to Dune.

I toyed with the idea of a harvesting game. I even bought a few jawa sand crawlers to use as harvesters. My plan was to have a competion with each player as a different house and see who could harvest the most spice. Have small army on each side, a carry-all and a base. Players could try to gather spice and disrupt each others operations, freman spoiling raids, worms, Off world mercs, stealing other peoples stock piles.
Didn't get anywhere with it and I'm sure this is exactly the sort of thing the various Dune board games cover.

The old but excellent french board game Full Metal Plančte could be a good working base, I think.

I will use the force for Future Wars Commander. I'll build a force based on the Harkonnens and they will fight whoever. Thanks for all the tips Gentlemen.

Hehe I had an idea once to do a Dune game inspired by the Amiga game.

I wanted to do little buildings that you could purchase as part of your army list.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to cover the whole resource thing.

I'd use a Pardulon lugworm for a Sandworm. Great models and appropriately awesome giant size against 6mm miniatures.
