Any photos of these alongside the "orange" originals? I understand they are slightly different.

Auton's are the originals, look at the head, they are rounder, the new ones have a lower head with a tommy helmet lip.
And where's your pic then eh??? ;)

I've not even taken the magazines out of the wheelbarrow I brought them home in yet.
On the colour front... apparently the colour is related to what you recycle in them... so what are the black ones for?
Nice paint jobs one and all! :D

Last year's, already seen on the Doctor Who 2010 thread:

And Steve...very odd looking I-Dalek, care to replace the pic with something more fitting.... ::)
Oops, wrong tag. Now corrected.

Thanks. :)
Not painted any yet. Not a fan of the New Doctor(s) but as I had the BTD Peter Cushing Dr I got some of the Daleks just in case. ;)

Bright dalek invasion of the earth colours then, make they look very retro.

Oooooo.
Heavy weapons dalek?
-
All in good time dear Vyper... it'll be on the blog soon as.
It's my task for this weekend so you never know- might even be ready by Monday! o_o
-
Oh yes, a SWD is a necessity!
I'm planning to add some webbing etc to them to make them WW2 style Daleks from "Victory of the Daleks".
My British Weird WW2 army will then have a couple of "Ironsides" squads.
Well thats the plan anyway!
-
Always liked this one personally (combination of the SWD and Storm SWD (Fan build)).

Be good to see what you come up with...race ya! ;)

Be good to see what you come up with...race ya! ;)
You're on! :D (Though I am currently handicapped by waiting on Royal Mail international surface shipping...)
Mine will have WW2 style weaponry, in theme with my Ironsides Unit.
-
I'm far too sophisticated to race...* :P
*Classic delaying technique, see you at the finish line.

Lol, no chance mate, you'll win I'm sure, other shiney shiney has distracted me.

Rusty Dalek is brilliant...

Will have to paint some up too..
-
There's some close up work on the eye lense over on frother's:
Hi Akula, the red lense is black base, then a couple of thin layers each of Scab Red, Blood Red & Golden Yellow in ever smaller dots. Wet blend if feeling speedy, or glaze back occasionally to smooth it out. Final yellow dot is as small & neat as possible...
...the other one is black, Hawk Turquioise & white. Pics are the most in focus I could get :D
Cheers, B.
Lovely work :-* :-*

My first hack featuring Dalek bits is up on the blog... although blink and you'll miss it. The more obvious Dalek mod is made and undercoated - so later in the week!

I've started converting one into a Dalek Emperor.
I'm basing it on this design:
-
Finished off my squad of new paradigm Daleks that have been sitting on my work table for months. A bit of a rush job, but needed to work fast and push through before I got distracted with other projects, so not the cleanest painting I've done. Happy I could find another use for my Tamiya clear colors to paint them up like a bunch of cheap Kaled tarts. Like the high saturation and gloss finish the tamiya colors gave them--they look fun on the table.

6milPhil, care to give your creation a name?
-
Aye, it's a Personal Armoured Turreted Rickshaw Imparting Officer's Tea... it's a pedal powered prototype for the BUF in our VBCW game. ;D
I've realised just how awful those pictures are so went back and took some more...

Excellent ! :)
My own attempts to improve the basic Dalek pale in comparison ..

Milliput , Greenstuff , paperclip, and a bugle bead . I've just got to add the dome lights when the putty hardens .
-
Nice--looks like yours is going to be a lot more screen accurate, Elwood.
Some fun conversions underway there--may have to try to track down another batch of Daleks and give it a go...
-
Some great conversions here. Anyone fancy a go at making this?

And this is after I tortured it with paint . On the left is last years model .
I think this years model is slightly better despite the odd dome .
I'll definitely be using paper-clip arms on the rest of them . It does seem to be a weak spot that snaps easily .

How did you do the domes on the "trailer"? Poly cement?
-
Superglue gel, not perfect by a long chalk, but they're do. Usually do similar for rivets but they're smaller of course.
Like on this armoured tram;

When you say superglue do you mean gel?

Looks great! The new eyestalk and plunger arm are a huge improvement on the figure. I agree that sculpt for the latest run of daleks looks better than the original release.

Thanks ! :)
Here's my WIP on a Heavy Weapons version . I may rethink that gun.

He looks pleased with his new Cybersex doll ...
-
That is one HEAVY Heavy Weapon! :o
-
When you say superglue do you mean gel?
Yep, corrected it above. You can use any thicker glue, I've just found superglue gel to work best especially as it dries quicker than any other.
-
Thanks ! :)

Nice. What did you use for the weapon?
-
Thanks ! After posting that , I immediately shortened the barrel into something a little less phallic .

Its a spare EM4 Space Ranger heavy weapon I had lying around .

The back end has a bit of sprue and coffee stirrer as a fold-down stabiliser for when the gun is fired .

Very nice conversion of the DWA Dalek mini. 8) 8) 8) 8)
And I like how you left it without any of the rust and wear and tear the original HW Dalek had. Never did understand why it looked like it had just been dragged out of a muddy pond!
Nice work! 8)
-
looking good there Elwood =)
-

the stains are a psychomutagenic residue.... the cannon is so powerful that firing it causes the Dalek mutant to mutate further, to such an extent that normal Daleks don't even consider it to be a Dalek anymore... the radiation has also driven it quite insane...
the casing is also heavily scorched as it logically becomes a magnet to incoming fire whenever it's fielded...
-
I just received a packet of these Daleks and was wondering if the different colours had any significance?
::) oops I found this http://www.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/dalek/types/28-orange-scientist-dalek/
-
what a strange arm attachment
http://www.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/dalek/types/20-imperial-guard-dalek/
never noticed that before...
-
Never noticed that either. Having a quick look about found these two bits of info.
According to the info about this figure shown here (from 2006, btw)...
http://www.daleklinks.co.uk/news/2006/new-series-12-inch-emperors-guard-dalek-released (http://www.daleklinks.co.uk/news/2006/new-series-12-inch-emperors-guard-dalek-released)
...it's a 'sensor arm' (?)
But here...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/s4/characters/?character=daleks&action=profile (http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/s4/characters/?character=daleks&action=profile)
...it represents 'additional weapons for maximum defense capability', presumably to help protect the Emperor.
-
yeah, tardis wiki has sensor arm as well... you can see it in stills now I know to look for it... but it doesn't look like it was all of them...
-
I like the "sensor" explanation . I could understand a paranoid Emperor not wanting his enemies getting too close , so an increase in range for his bodyguard makes sense .
When I (finally) add a guard unit to my collection , I'll include a few of those . They could increase the firing range or modify the hit dice for any other Guard Daleks within a certain proximity .
Mind you . I suspect the actual function was to look cool . 8)

Okay, just posted these pics over at the Yahoo Groups for the Dr Who Miniatures Game, Dr Who:Invasion Earth, and the SFSFW as well.
Yes, another toy iDalek mini on the cover of DWA, but this time it's HUGE, about 60mm tall! (Pics have a Micro Universe Dalek, and the Supreme iDalek from the last Battle Pack issue for comparison.)
Plus, as it contains 'Dalek Sludge' for the kids, it means it's semi pose-able!
Could be used as a New Paradigm Emperor, I suppose! Or maybe a Dalek tank, for all you converters out there!
Is it time to storm the newsagents again? It's only one per issue by the way, and I've only got one so far! Discuss!
-
It's a reissue of one from a few months ago :)
Every now and again DWA has a "surprise" free gift to use up any leftovers from previous magazines . You got lucky . All I've seen are the Bronze coloured Dalek Frisbee....
Next week is a jigsaw !!! Oh be still my dancing feet....
