Very interesting post about the Siddis.

This touches on 'Darkest Africa' gaming slightly. The famous African guide to many explorers, Sidi Mubarak Bombay, was taken as a slave to India as a child. Difference with him was that when he gained his freedom he went back to Africa. Despite the fact that he was Yao and Speke was English they communicated in Hindi, as it was the only common language the two had.

Bombay also served as a "Baluchi" in East Africa. So it shows they weren't all even Asian, let alone actually Baluchis.

Nice to see some Copplestone Somalis with paint on them, too. Inspiring for me as I'm in the middle of painting a batch of them myself.

Hi Plynkes,

The more one digs the more one realises the very close connections between East Africa and India. It is something not really dealt with in any detail in the books. I have to say I am becoming quite interested in it!
