Title: Crusaders, Templars or Teutonic knights?
Post by: General Roos on February 07, 2011, 11:06:32 PM
I am planning a Scandinavian baltic crusade project soon. But I am a noob when it comes to medieval lead.  :?

Does anyone know of any nice teutonics, templars, crusaders or other knights of christ in 28mm?

I´m also looking for some early medieval knights (1100-1350 AD) type Otterburn, Bannockburn or Poitiers and some russian/eastern knights/fighters.

Thanks!

Mattias

Thanks. Exactly what I was looking for.

Do you know if they match up against the Perrys crusader line?

I painted up Perry's Hospitallers before last summer. Lovely miniatures. No knight Hospitallers campaigned in the Baltic as far as I know but I think they can be used as some other order.

I really wouldn't have a problem using them together.

I once started the same project (I wonder if I ever will finish it...) mixing Perry, Gripping, Front Rank and some GW Bretonnians. Old Glory has some good rank-fillers if you want a bigger force.

Black Tree Designs has a range of them as well, but some people report shipping problems with the company (slow/late to ship, etc.).

Thanks guys!  :)

I was inspired after reading the Osprey´s Scandinavian Baltic Crusades. I´m eager to paint, and play, my partly pagan, partly christened Norse ancestors religious misdeeds in the east. Just have to find some eastern knights/fighters as well.

Gripping Beast Russians are worthy opponents for the Swedes. Think Battle of the Neva:

I especially like how armor has no affect on stopping half hearted cuts by the protagonist.  lol

It is a modern Russian version of "Aleksander Nevsky" you know the Russian hero that got his name by kickin our Swedish ancestors butt. The trailer also on Youtube:
