Title: Historical Supplement for Kings of War rules.
Post by: Neldoreth on February 28, 2011, 09:45:50 PM
Hey all,

I figured I would post this here in case you're interested!

As you may know, Mantic Games is a fantasy miniatures company that is targeting the GW market. They have a fantastic little rule set that targets the WFB game. It's great, tactically deep, yet very simple and fast to pick up. It gives a great, compelling and fulfilling game. Best of all, it's absolutely free!

Naturally, someone had to create a historical supplement to make the rules work with WAB armies, and it turns out that I was the first to do it! I'd like to introduce "Kings of War Historical Ancient Battles"!

The first supplement I have done is called KoWHAC Rome Rising and it follows the late Republic around Ceasar's time, to the early Empire. As such, it includes a Roman army list that you can use to make either of the previously-mentioned lists. It also includes a list that lets you field pretty much any of Rome's barbarian or horse-type armies!

You can get the supplement on my site in the articles section, or just download it here:

Thanks

Good luck!  What kind of basing convention does it use?  I'd like to try Impetus and I'm looking for other rule sets that use similiar basing in case I don't like the rules.

The basing scheme is very close to Impetus, and you could easily use the Impetus basing scheme without any modifications!

Thanks

Neldoreth, is this ruleset compatible with the fantasy army lists, e.g. can you play barbarians vs. undead for example? Or are there enough modifications to upset this balance?

P.S. please excuse the threadomancy 8)

Fantastic idea!

Ever since I got my Warlord testudo I've thought about how this game can easily handle such a model.
Unlike all the singlebased mini games.
