looks like a nice project.  :)
only 1 remark : too much airco units for my taste.

Looking good for a sketchup, I had to google Biongo Cola though ;)

I like the idea of fighting in a dried riverbed, you can also put lots of 'bottom of the river' crap in it:

The one with the bikes is typically Dutch ;)

Apart from the nice looking terrain, what's a cola factory doing in a river bed after the apocalypse? Or was it meant to have been there before the apocalypse as well? That would explain the pillars of course.

A dried up riverbed full of trash is an awesome idea!  :)

it is, but not really playable! maybe is better a flat river bed with some disposable scenics on it!

Ah, ok, I have the same (paid several € for it, though)
Here in the art suplly store the have the tools from foamwerks.
http://www.foamwerks.com/ (http://www.foamwerks.com/)
I bought their rabbet cutter [misplaced my old one  :'(] the rest is a tad too expensive for me.

BTW : that's coming together really nice, and fast !  :)

you mean the construction material?
it is the cheaper foamcore i found...6 euros for a 60x100 cm, enough for 3-4 buildings!

thanks zizi... now i have to make a mould for the windows... quite boring, but it gives another quality to the model!

maybe he's referring to the thickness ?
Here we've got 3mm and 5mm foamboard (some years ago even 10mm)

Title: Re: Post Apocalyptic Board
Post by: Sangennaru on March 17, 2011, 10:17:56 AM
aaahhhn!

since it is a really cheap american building, i choose the 3mm one, even if i prefere the 5mm one, it is 2 times expensive!

the one i took is a poor quality one, with a bad foam inside. just good for the walls.
i have a small piece of 5mm with a good foam inside, and i'm planning to use that for same parts, like shown in the MAKE IT REAL article, from a FRENCH GENIUS (look on the "links" widget on my site! =) )

i'm also planning to use MDF for some concrete parts, I'll make a try in this days!

You're doing great progress!
And Google SketchUp is a great program, I've been fiddling around with it recently (but its too basic so my old education in Maya is seriously in the way) and will try to sketch up my own board with Houses :)

@Pil
You mean that people just chuck their old bicycles into the canales :o I thought it was my towns speciality (that and pitbulls that have died during illegal dog fights).

Not exactly, people usually chuck other people's bikes in the water. So when parking your bike near water make sure you attach it to something 8)

This was the Dutch picture I was talking about BTW, it didn't show up in my post:

Yeah, or they borrow someone else's bike and chuck it in the water when they're almost at their destiny...

I suppose I know the feeling...
(I run a Blood bowl league for like 10 years now and sometimes I feel like I almost need to pick up the players from their houses in order to get them to play.)

Anyway, I bet you have a great time while building and then using your pieces, right?
At least for me that's what keeps me building/converting and painting stuff, if it were for the time I actually have to play...

Allright doc! The whire meshes are waiting to be added... i've to finish the wooden structure before, since those are quite elastic, and with the vinavil they make a huge mess!

I'll start casting forniture all around soon, there will be piles of rubbish everywhere!
