Hey Gang,
I dug out a bunch of my old OGRE miniatures this week, to show them off on my blog (I painted them back in 1994, before there were such things!)

Lots more on the blog: http://wantedforwargaming.blogspot.com/2011/03/blast-from-past-ogre-miniatures.html (http://wantedforwargaming.blogspot.com/2011/03/blast-from-past-ogre-miniatures.html)

That's very nice! :-*

You painted this back in 94?! Awesome paint job.

Agreed. Excellent brush skills there old boy.
And i love the Old Glory scheme. Aren't these OGRE things mean to be like moving cities or something...thats some pretty big stars right there! :D

Hmm, actually I think it would have been 95-96, as that was when I was working for Partha. The years all seem to bleed together!
-
Are you saying that you worked for Ral Partha (my all time favorite mini company); I think you just became my hero.

Wow, those are just really nice.

Damn!

Lovely stuff. I was rooting through my OGREs box the other night, I really must paint some of them. I fancy trying them with Future war commander.
Really like that PJ
-
Love the Fencer! I'm inspired, will dig the box out again tonight

Outstanding, both the paint schemes ideas and their execution. I've always wanted to build a 28mm Ogre, but never got around doing so.

Really nice!

Great idea, did you ever see the Macro Ogres? 28mm ones from years ago. There was a chap making 15mm Ogres as well
Edit: Actually the old ogre Macrotures are 1/35th scale! (54mmish), will see if I can find some piccies

Yup, got the pics saved away somewhere on my drive - the SJG Macroture GEV was actually the thing that picqued my interest.

If you get chance to share that would be great! :)

Downloaded them from the web, so you may have seen them - nothing really new in there, and the quality is not so great. But inspiring nonetheless. Photobucket OGRE Gallery (http://s249.photobucket.com/albums/gg236/Christian_S_1979/Modelling%20and%20Miniatures/OGRE/)

wow those are fantatstic. I love the way they look. Brings back memories of pocket games for sure.

Yes I have seen those before. I remember a couple of piccies of the stuff up close on a table between games. They did a good job on them. There is a new version of OGRE coming out, a deluxe boardgame (without miniatures) but buildable OGRES (like the pirate ships game I think) and giant counters.
I think you should definately build a 28mm OGRE, it was your Mekquake that inspired me to try my hand at Dredds Killdozer/Landraider

Nicely painted Ogres! Always wanted to pick them up but realised I would never paint them......that's never stopped me before or since though :)

Now is your chance, Dave! ;)

Yeah, around the time I painted these, the guys doing the Macro OGREs were showing up at conventions and running giant games. The big OGRE was certainly impressive!

I was lucky enough to get a 15mm version:

His name is MARS. He likes long walks on the beach and nuclear dust colored sunsets, and crushing his enemies beneath his tracks.
I wish mine was as nicely painted as the 6mm ones shown here. Great job on those!
