Beautiful faceplates on those helmets, Broadside...!

The colour of your helmets Broadside match with your background. Nice yet again!!

Tough choice. I am not into either genre but the execution is stonking on both entries.

Martin is the master of martian 15mm  :-*

The faceplates are excellent!  :-*.  This is a good match-up from two very different styles.

Two very nice entries but those cutesy warrior mice don't tickle my lead toes at all. The painting is great though! I really like the Martian entry and I'm glad I finally got to vote for them. I also think the vehicle gives this entry a bit more punch and diversity than your previous entries.

Thanks, I quite enjoyed painting this little team. The mice are very nice as well, and I have a feeling this will be a very close matchup. :)

I also think the vehicle gives this entry a bit more punch and diversity than your previous entries.

I think you're absolutely right Pil. I've wanted to include vehicles in the earlier entries, but haven't been able to for various reason. I really like this MATV from Rebel Minis and I think it adds a lot to the scene.

Now, may the best mice or men win!  :D

this was a really hard one. Those 15mm guys are amazing, and when I saw them I thought "wow!", but then I saw the mice, and the painting on them was equally brilliant. As I was a fan of Redwall as a kid, I ended up plumping for the mice, but I could have gone ether way.

Who are the mice buy- I have never seen them before?

PS - I might have to rip the face mask idea off- too good not to steal.

One of the toughest match-ups yet. Like others, I saw the first entry and thought - wow! 15mm! Beautiful painting. Then I saw the Mouse entry - equally beautiful painting. In the end, the vehicle decided it for me - wonderfully painted, and brings the whole entry together wonderfully (although the basing on the Mouse entry does the same thing....). How tough is this to call?

Indeed. I am very proud to think of The Artist a one of my Swedish peeps.

Another tough choice. Both are painted very well and both scenes look great. In the end the visors and vehicle won me over for the 15mm. Awesome work on such a small scale.

Oh no! A really hard choice. Both are really stunning.

@fire broadside: Fantastic scenery and a brilliant photo. You are getting better and better form round to round.

Well, I voted for my own mice.  ;)  However, in addition to the visors, what I really enjoy about the recon group is the red reflection in the vehicle windows.  Very cool.

I think, Mancha, you are to be congratulated on a brave choice. Small furry rodents, however delightfully painted, are probably not calculated to appeal to a section of the macho gaming hardcore. Should be an interesting match right through the week  ;)

You think so? Originality seems to appeal to voters.

Probably also true.
My point really was that we've all seen Mancha turn out great-looking 28mm humans. More teams of great looking human miniatures would perhaps have been a safer bet than the risky 'armed medieval mice' strategy  ;)

But this is not to distract from the excellent entry from Fire Broadside! which I agree takes his 15mm Martian stuff to another level.

In short, both jolly good in very different ways. Exactly what we want really  :)

Now if only we had a both button... (Oh f*ck - now I've said it. Just off to shoot myself... )
 ;)

I'm inclined to agree. I don't want to take away anything from Mancha's lovely painting, but I think his choice of miniatures has a better chance than my choice of miniatures.  :)

I quite like Mancha's warrior mice. Reminds me of my middle school days when I enjoyed reading all of the Brian Jacques Redwall books. Tough choice, but nostalgia won me over.  :)

Well... I think it takes a lot of balls to pit 15mm against 28mm.

This LPL has seen, I do believe, more non-28mm entries than ever before.

And that is cool.

Good luck to both, really awesome, entries.

The martian bases are kind of bland. The helmets are nice,
but they don't trump the head to toe fantastic work on the mice.

That's the thing with doing armies for a Mars themed game; you're pretty limited when it comes to basing and terrain building. It's more or less about deciding what size rocks you want on your bases. I'm currently experimenting with having some larger black volcanic rocks (like these (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b8/PIA08440-Mars_Rover_Spirit-Volcanic_Rock_Fragment.jpg)) as well to break it up a bit. We'll see how that pans out.

We play for a partially terraformed Mars. Opens all sorts of avenues.

I've been considering that, and I might try some small "deserty" grass patches or some such. But in my game Mars has only been colonized for a few decades as I'm trying to keep it fairly low-tech and realistic (with some exceptions. Hehe!). But it's a good idea! :)

Oh, and do you have any pictures of your minis?

The bases do seem to shout at you that "I'm too bright."  Perhaps a more in-depth dry brush highlight could give it more depth and perspective.

That's actually because of my lousy photography setup. I only have the one lamp and a crappy pocket camera that's five years old. I'm actually surprised that my pictures have come out as well as they have. Relatively speaking. I really need to make myself a light box...

In real life the bases are a more dynamic.  :)

Also, I really love your mice Mancha! Good luck in future rounds!
