For those of us who have not seen this yet the series starts this Sunday on channel 5 at 10pm (UK that is)

It's worth a look. The first episode was very good, the rest kind of chugged along not fantastic but a must for fans of the zombie genre. The series has been out here on DVD for a month or so now.

Yes the first episode was great. The rest was good and worth watching, though I enjoy the comic more. Looking forward to the next run of episodes.
Studio miniatures have put out some nice survivor proxies for the show/comic.

Is it me or the photo angle - or do some of the Studio survivors have a tendency towards big heads?
(one would think that large brains attract zombies faster lol )

The heads on all their survivor characters look way huge. Nice sculpts otherwise, but that makes them look cartoony, sadly...

First season aired here (US) back in October. Great show, even better comic. Show parallels the comic for awhile but has detoured. There's alot of stuff I doubt TV will do that is in the books. Good show, even if you don't like the zombie genre. More about human inter actions. Later the in the story, the big question becomes "What's worse, the undead, or the survivors?"

Agree with Baron and all who've seen it. Its good, but be open to the fact that its STRAYS from the comic.

I totally agree, it made me ask myself "who's the real Walking Dead here?". Good show BTW, I'm looking forward to season 2.

Great show but fantastic book.

I've never read the comic due to uncharacteristic financial self-discipline, but I loved the series. With most of these things I normally prefer the original book/comic to the on-screen adaptation, so if this it's the case that the comic is better, I'd best start saving lol

Certainly a great show, but I do love zombies. But I have some friends that loved it too and their holy graal is Lost, so I guess it works on most people.
I'm glad to hear it differs a bit from the comic as I haven't read the comic because I thought it was exactly the same.

It strays from the comic way early.
The writter said in an interview at some point that was the plan. To stray that is.
Merle for example is a huge detour and i still wanna know what happened with him. :-)

The first season was good, except that it went rather silly in the last episode. Not to spoil anything, what was meant to be a dramatic conclusion to the season strayed too far from the basic concept of grassroots zombie survival IMO.
