Bravo. Thank you for indulging us whingers. Dimples is my favourite name, but Beyoncé is my favourite figure. Lovely colourful bunch.

Oh, and I see you have defected to the degenerate ranks of the eye-painters. I think you've burned you're bridges and are stuck with us now, H. The non-eye-painters won't have you back in their clubhouse after this. At least you are welcome in the Elephant Fćces Fraternity now, with what I must say is a particularly splendid example. Better than mine.  ;)

Just one more thing, as Columbo would say: The Laiquanda pic ain't showing up for some reason.  :)

As I wrote before those very  bright greens and yellows are not kosher, but once I had  seen those modern West African women in their eye watering colours and patterns I found it hard to resist not doing them.

I think I have always painted eye whites on very dark skinned miniatures (orcs, africans etc). I still think it looks wrong on pink skinnedminis.

About Laiquanda, there's some think wonky with my ftp-client. I have tried several times replacing the photo file but it won't let me.

The Chattering Order of St. Beryl of Krakow aka. The Sisters of Little Mercy aka. Les Soeurs de Merci-le-Petit.

Quote
St. Beryl of Krakow was an early (5th Centuary) Christian martyr. Forcibly married to the pagan Duke Casimir, Beryl maintained her all-important virginity by ceaselessly talking to him and incessantly chattering on, until he went down with a headache.

Eventually he couldn't stand the eternal wittering any more and had her executed, but she died a virgin, which in Christian eyes was the all-important thing and which secured her a sainthood.

The Chattering Order of St. Beryl are an order of nuns dedicated to emulating her example, and whose members are commanded to chatter, natter, and rabbit on about every last little thing that comes into their heads for every second of every waking hour.

The Sisters are allowed half an hour's respite on Tuesdays, when they may be silent and, if they wish, play table-tennis. Or box.

Sister Trinidad Seremonious on a Tuesday.

Sisters Emaculata Crepundia and Anna Latrona with alter boy Agrippa serving the heathens some very persuasive augments about the benefits of a Christian life.

Sisters Trinity Iurgia and Bruce Seditia.

Sisters Immaculata Enunciation and Perfidia Lingua inquiring about who stuck gum under the seat in the confessional booth.

Mother Superior (or, as Pope Leo XIII in sigh of exasperation once called her, 'the Mother Inferior') Mary Loquacious.

A few props I have made for various entries:

These palms are from Pegasus Hobbies  and  I think they are great kits. The colours of the plastic are impossiblee IMO, so they do need a makeover. After washing and drying the sprues I sprayed the leaves first black, then dark olive then light olive. The trunks were sprayed black, then brown and last given a tan drybrushing. The big palms are quite tall, about 20cm. As you can see I glued washers to their bases to make them less prone to topple over. I have two more sets: one more palm tree variant and a large set of banana plants.

(@Galland: these you can  borrow for SLAM).

Where'd you find that wonderful MG from the Dahomey entry, Boss? I'd like to get me one of them.

I could not tell you the difference from looking at it. It's not a super detail kit.

Fantastic stuff Hammers, really great. I have tried to stay away from the colonial/african stuff, but this is such a great inspiration! However, some of this could naturally be converted to caribbian needs of course :-P
The palms are great. I have managed to get a few of them over here to Sweden, despite the companies strange and to say the least ancient sales rules.

You may certainly use the Dahomeys as Jamaican maroons if you like.
