Title: WWI era generic vehicles for 28mm? manufacturers
Post by: valleyboy on April 19, 2011, 02:59:23 PM
Beg your pardon Ladies & Gents if this has been asked previously but I'm on the lookout for some transport vehcles that would be suitable for around this time, essentially for a setting in Palestine

I have a couple of armoured cars from Northstar made by Company B in 1:48 scale

Any other suggestions please

You could check out Sloppy Jalopy I think they do a couple of pre 1920 ones.

Lleedo/Matchbox diecasts. The Crossley tender is particularly suitable. You can pick them up for next to nothing second hand.

Note that Company B vehicles are 1:56 scale; Sloppy Jalopy is 1:48.

You will see a difference.

For 1:56 scale, check --

Copplestone
Company B
Brigade Games
Black Army Productions
Scheltrum

Most vehicles they sell are tanks and armored cars though. Actual *transport* vehicles are a tougher find.

Company B has a Model T Stake Bed Truck, Model T Panel Van, Model T Scout Car and Model T Long Range Recon Car; also a Rolls Tender.

Look no further than ebay, usually plenty of Crossleys there. Solido also has a nice 1:50 truck which I used for a LPL entry during the round last year

VB - the model T was pretty ubiquitous as a transport vehicle.

Slopy Jalopy do a nice fiat truck with 4 variants, you can see some pictures of two of them on our web site alongside some of our 28mm miniatures. http://scarabminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5_22_64
They are 1/48th but fit very well with 28mm models, I still have the ambulance and British variant to build when I get some time
