Title: Dark Days in Byklabad
Post by: Yankeepedlar01 on April 28, 2011, 07:39:30 AM
An ongoing series of Indian Mutiny battles has been fought out this month here in GHQ, as Phil and I wrestled for control of the area around our fictional North Indian village of Byklabad. What follows is a photo montage/report of the latest game...

The Raja of Rhanli has fortified the outskirts of Byklabad

The defences bristle with heavy guns and crazed fanatics

The Raja's forces are bolstered by the presence of a 'Mystic Fakir'

While other locals implore the gods for aid

The Raja himself leads his forces into battle

His artillery thunders forward into action

Who will feel "The Devil's Wind" in Byklabad?

Surely not General Lord Rawnsley and the forces of the HEIC?

The cavalry and artillery more forward with purpose, flanked by British Regular infantry.

The Gordon Highlanders and their loyal Ghurkha allies advance with determination

"Forward, my brave lads! Forward!"

Cavalry swirl and clash around Byklabad

Company troops rush forward to assault the defences

The Lancers fail to drive off the Mutineer cavalry in a prolonged combat

Byklabad remains in the grip of the Mutineers...

Could n't blame the dice this time, my attack just petered out... :'(

Looks like a cracking game.
Nice touch with the guy walking on the hot coals :D
Does he affect the game in any way?

Super game!  Where do you get the gabions from? Those are very nice specimens.

Thanks for the encouraging comments, folks! Perhaps I should have said the game ended in a draw, our attacks ran out of oomph and one of us ran out of energy.

gamerMac ~ the Fakir allows one failed Pluck Test to be re-rolled once during a game.

Ignatieff ~ Gabbions are from Ironclad, I think they are £1.50 for four pieces, but they also do 'runs' of corners, straights, gun positions I think for about £5.00 or so.

Really nice miniatures and love the "pink" buildings.

It's just not proper that those foreign chappies keep trouncing you! Better luck next time.

I expect Lord Rawnsley will be getting a strongly worded despatch from the Governor after that performance. This saga keeps on getting better. The games look like super fun and you are making all of us devotees extremely envious. Bravo, and I eagerly await the next installment.

Is that a teaser of the front page of your rules to come? Oh when when when? Another great looking game.

David - purveyor of beautiful games and great guilt.  The game - yours; the guilt - mine.  Must work on my Mutineer collection!  By the way, I've had a copy of The Devil's Wind (as opposed to a case :o) for years and years - different author though, local man from the San Francisco area.  Love the fakir idea!

Mike, its not the cover, that's nowhere near ready yet, its just something to encourage me when I'm stuck in front of the computer trying to work out how to word something.
I doubt the rules will be ready before Warfare in Reading at the very earliest really, especially as I expect to be away for much of September and October if all goes well.

Yes, I've seen the prices of some of those Nottingham manufacturers, too.
