Yeah, you read that right, another one.
While John is working away on more dwarfish goodness, I couldn't resist the temptation to ask one of my sculpting idols, the great Kev Adams, to do some of his iconic goblins for the range, kitted out in landsknecht gear. And they look pretty fantastic, it looks like Kev really strived to make these some of his finest goblins yet, surpassing all expectations.
There are 4 poses to start with.
There are 6 heads that fit all 4 bodies.
3 of the bodies have interchangeable weaponhands (spear, halberd and two swordvariants) and a separate shield.
The 4th is armed with a handgun and will receive more options after moulding.
More detailed pictures showing the possible combinations will follow when I have them in hand, but I couldn't wait to show you these pictures Kev sent to me.

There are a few more pictures of unassembled bits on the blog: http://whiteknightminiatureimperium.blogspot.com/2011/05/first-pictures-of-landsknecht-goblin.html (http://whiteknightminiatureimperium.blogspot.com/2011/05/first-pictures-of-landsknecht-goblin.html)

Ooo, I like them a lot :-* 8)
cheers
James
-
Very cool little guys, Sebastian!
-
Really cool minis, they'll be fab to paint.
-
did you win the lottery or something a year ago? You know most of us just buy miniatures instead of asking our favoured sculptors to work to our specific tastes. lol
-
To be honest, I don't dare to think about the average cost per figure, all included. I can only hope I will be able to make some back from selling a few to the lot of you. ;D
-
To be honest, I don't dare to think about the average cost per figure, all included.
I dunno, with the GW prices on the rise you might be on to something here. ::)
-
Wow! :o
You need to tell us if/when you cast some up for sale. I know a bunch of Mordheim players that would love this stuff!
-
I really like these as well, along with the dwarf models. I could find many uses for both ranges in many games I play. Definitely interested in making some purchases here when/if they become available.
-
These are very nice, they're also for inclusion in your Landsknecht fantasy force like your Orcs, I presume? The loose hands look like they may be a bit fiddly to use but otherwise the head and weapon swaps allow for very easy diversity!
-
If I hadn't chosen a solidly medieval setting and invested in it, I would be hassling you for these. They are :-* :-*
-
As a Goblin Guy of long standing, all I've got to say is "OH BABY! THOSE ARE OH-SO-COOL!"...I'm mildly impressed. If you're going to go to the lengths you did with your SPECTACULAR Dwarves, I'll have to water-proof my keyboard in anticipation of a heavy drool attack. BEAUTIFULLY SILLY STUFF!
-
Beautiful stuff, White Knight! There's a whole Renaissance fantasy serie to be made! I think they could work perfectly with Foundry's orcs (maybe someone said the same thing before...).

Only indirectly, unless you count the reaction on the blog. :)

Perhaps not as extensive as the vast plans I still have for the dwarfs, but there will definitely be more variants.

Well, if you don't trust the tag and socket for the hands, you could always use them as a guide to pin the bits. :)

I will definitely announce it here when they become available to the public. :)

Great looking sculpts Seb.Kev has done a great job with these. They will be great additions to the Orc's from Foundry.
-
Renaissance Goblins ??? ??? ???
That's? .... different? - but I like them :)
And no doubt, that Mr. Adams did a great job on them - and will certainly go well with the Mercenary Orcs/Ogres he did for foundry.
-
Well, it makes more sense than the orcs when you think about it, goblins being more cunning and more prone to seeing the advantages of living an "almost civilised" mercenary life. ;)

HEAR! HEAR! From my admittedly biased viewpoint as a Goblin Guy, I TOTALLY agree; plus Goblins are a splendid counterpoint to the Dwarves. It's drugs & sex & rock 'n roll VS beer & broads & baritones...sort of a '60s culture clash. Tying the two projects together with the LOVELY costumes of the Renaissance is an inspired touch...it is scant wonder you have become my hero.
-
I've been silent for a long time about the goblins, but I finally have an update. Kev's been busy converting the existing poses to add more variants and has gone way beyond expectations in making each one unique. He also added more heads and more weapon options. There are 8 new bodies (making for a total of 12), 10 new heads, a few variants for the existing weapons and a crossbow option.
These are now off to the mouldmaker and have been mastermoulded. I am awaiting mastercastings for one final check. If everything checks out, they're up for productionmoulding.
But in the mean time, have some pictures.
The 8 new bodies:

The heads (the missing one is visible in the above image):

Another look at some of the bodies:
Some of the "plug-in" types in action:
The sprues (spears and halberds have been sprued up differently since). The little shield in the lower right corner has a hand attached to it. This will allow to use the normal (one-handed weapons) on the plug-in type bodies in combination with the shield for even more variety in the poses.

-
OH BABY! THOSE ARE SO COOL!...I'm mildly impressed. GREAT LOOKING minis...I love the expressions.
-
What fantastic heads! I hope the 2 bare ones become available, so we can Kev Adams up models from other ranges too! :)
-
The sprue with the three bare heads and the sprue with the three identical sallet helmets will be available separately. ;)
-
Fantastic! :-*
-
So glad I'm not into Goblins - or else ..... (goodbye hard earned money) ;D
But surely impressive pieces by Mr. Adams - and might be tempted picking up a small sample of these later on ;)
-
Just found a couple more pictures on my camera that somehow didn't make it onto my computer last time... :?
Anyway, this shows a closer look at the new bodies, including the backside.

VERY COOL additions to an already FINE array of minis. Renaissance Goblins & their Dwarven adversaries combine my favorite Fantasy types with my favorite Historical period...WELL DONE!
Have you noticed how these projects take over your life?
-
Yes, the original plan was a handful of minis. ;D
-
These are fantastic!
I can see a few of these in my Ork Witch Hunters warband, especially with those lovely sallet helmets.
Any idea how long before you have them in production?
I do not mind if it is a while, I need time to get on with everything else! ;)
-

Sallet helmets will be available on their own, so if you want you can replace all of the heads to have them.
Any idea how long before you have them in production?
If there are no problems with the mastercastings, sometime next month probably.

Perfect!

These are great :-* 8)
Do you have plans for halfling or dwarf heads in the future?
cheers
James
-
Do you have plans for halfling or dwarf heads in the future?
Well, the dwarf heads I have from my dwarf project are too big to look good on those bodies, but you could put human heads from the GW empire or bretonnian sets (or other sources) on them and they'd look pretty much like halflings of the slimmer variety. :)
-
Ooo, that's good to know 8)

All the more reason to buy some! :D
You bad man!
I have no choice now, do I? >:( ( ;))
-
I have no choice now, do I? >:( ( ;))
None whatsoever. ;)
-
I'd love a unit of these! Veterans from some battle in The Empire!!! :D
-
None whatsoever. ;)
Well..............Where are they, then?
It has been two days and I have not seen any news!
;)
-
I was hoping the mastercastings would have arrived yesterday, but they didn't, so hopefully next week I will get them and be able to see if they are good to be productionmoulded.

Due to popular demand, I've asked Kev to sculpt some alternate heads for the goblin bodies. And by alternate, I mean halfling. ;)
-
Fantastic work! A truly great project you have here. Once these beauties are in production, they will join onto the end of my very long list of wants.
Excellent stuff, keep it up!

It would be better if they were closer to the top of the list. ;)

You have gone and done it now!

AWESOME!!!!!! What about little feet, so we can cut the goblin ones off and give them proper hairy halfling feet? ;)
-
AWESOME!!!!!! What about little feet, so we can cut the goblin ones off and give them proper hairy halfling feet? ;)
What about sculping the heads onto the bodies and doing the feet at the same time and do away with all this multipart mallarky ;D ;D lol lol :D ;D
-
Well, the multipart malarky is sort of my trademark, so it's a bit late to change that.
As for the feet, I'm hoping they'll look ok when painted in fleshtones.
-
Sorry mate, I forgot they were barefoot! My mistake. They'll look awesome don't worry about the feet! :)
If anyone wants hairy feet, just stick some static grass on or sculpt it yourself you lazy buggahs! :D
Fandabydozy idea though, can't wait to see the greens. :D
-
some of the later ones do have shoes though, but well, I wasn't even looking to make these suitable for use as halflings, I just succumbed to peer pressure. lol
-
Hadn't spotted this thread up until now. Those little guys are great! But I really shouldn't buy any until I have painted at least some of the dwarves. Soon, hopefully. But I love those goblins, I surely do. The halfling option is also intriguing...
-
I've been asked for a picture that shows the relative sizes of the dwarfs and goblins, so here's a quicky with a dwarf and a GW halfling.
As a reminder, here's the earlier picture with some Foundry orcs.
And for those who've missed my painting thread, there are some more painted goblins here:

-
VERY WELL DONE! I love the expression on the hand gunner.
-
Well, if Kev does a good job (as I will be expecting) - I'm rather sure I'll need adding some halfling allied to my dwarfs. Bigger than my C-series halfling, but perfect for giving the dwarfs some militia support :)
Thanks for sharing, WK :)
-
And I can imagine a unit of Halflings in my ogre army that have travelled back with the maneaters...
-
Multi part halflings.....this is going to be dangerous!!!!
-
The goblins are now available for sale. Apologies for the patchwork pictures, these will be replaced soon.
In all, there are 12 different bodies and a plethora of heads and weapon options.

:-* :-* :-*
Lovely!
Now I am just waiting for the Halfling heads to be ready and an order will quickly follow.
Cant wait, but I must............
;D ;D ;D
-
Sadly, Kev couldn't fit in the heads in the latest work he did for me, so they'll have to wait until the next batch. :(
-
They look great and I hope they sell well!!!
So we are looking at early next year for the halfling heads?
-
That's what I'm hoping for, but it will depend on when Kev can do them and on when I can get a productionmould made that has room for them.
-
Kev Adams has finished a set of goblin command figures, but until I get a chance to take some pictures of the finished items (or get the ones I had from my other pc), you can enjoy some WIP's as a teaser of things to come.

Looking great - as always :) The champion/boss pose is über cool. Another set of great sculpts.
CENSORED??? the first halfling head is done and then it's censored! Now that's rather cruel, don't you think? :P
-
It's not a head, it's a hand for another goblin, but the world isn't ready to see that stuff yet. ;)
-
:o
I missed this thread!
OOOOOOOOOOOH! Lovely stuff! :-* :-* :-*
definetly waiting for halfling heads to place my order WK! :)
-
Those look awesome might have to seriously consider buying some to paint.
-
Pretty awesome sculpts, and they should make some darn fine halflings too, once the heads are finished!
-
Wow, that Flamberge looks great!
I gotta get my Foundry Landsknect painted up. I'm a puff 'n slash nutter.
Very inspirational WK! :-* :-* :-*
-
I'm a puff 'n slash nutter.
That makes at least two of us.
BEAUTIFUL STUFF as always.
-
Kev has done you some great additions for the range. What is next for them then?
-
:-* :-* :-*
Looking great WK!
(+1 on waiting for the 'Fling heads, though. ::))
Starting to wonder if this would work the other way too- Your new Gobbo heads on existing 'Fling bodies.......
-
Those are stonking although the arms are a bit ropey on the trumpeter!!!
-
Will try to remember posting the completed models tonight.
-
And here are the completed goblin command figures: a modular captain, 2 modular musicians and two different standards to use with the rank and file models of WKG-01.
The champion comes with separate head and three different weapon options: sword, pistol or flambergé greatsword.
The first musician, the drummer, comes with separate head and is one of my favourite models of the range.
The second musician is a hornblower. No separate head for this one, but he does come with sword or pistol option.
Funds didn't allow a separate model for a standardbearer, but with these two standardhands, you can change any rank and file goblin from the WKG-01 sets into a standardbearer. The standardtops are representing a little goblin cherub (a parody on a well known renaissance theme) and a boar head.
The various bits in the command set:
Aside from the command models, we also have the first of a set of character figures, which can be used as either a general, a hero or another champion. Characters need names of course, so I give you Gob de Leon. He has the option for a bare head or a helmet.

More frothy goodness - love the standards

Very nice work! The great sword guy will make a great halfing hero once the halfling heads are released......previews soon?????
-
I like the goblin hero! The pose reminds me of the old Ruglud from the RRD5 Ruglud's armoured orcs. Was that by chance intentional?
-
Loving the new stuff!
Gob de Leon looks fantastic!
;D
-
I like the goblin hero! The pose reminds me of the old Ruglud from the RRD5 Ruglud's armoured orcs. Was that by chance intentional?
Yes and no. It was a rather typical pose that you found on several citadel minis in those days, there was Ruglud, there was the wardancer figure in skarloc's archers, ... It was more a nod to all of those figures than to a single one alone.
Very nice work! The great sword guy will make a great halfing hero once the halfling heads are released......previews soon?????
Not for a while. Halfling heads were supposed to be sculpted with this batch, but funds and sculpting time ran out, so they will be included in the next batch (after moulding of the goblins).
-

about funds...could we help you with a booking here on LAF for halfling heads + goblins packs? :D
-
Well, having some confirmed interest could help speed up things of course. ;)
-
If you need funds, why not release some Dwarfs (aka Greatswords) then? ::)
That said, I have to say that the Goblins are getting more tempting - great job on the characters/command. That Greatsword Champion is wonderful - and pretty sure that a Halfling head will do him good, too ;)
-
If you need funds, then why not release some Dwarfs (aka Greatswords)? ::)
Because I want the whole set to be released at the same time. :)
-
Besides, John would have more time to work on them if other people didn't give him work. ;)
-
Well, let me just say I look at this "a bit differently" - but ask John to hurry, as some of his customers can wait a bit longer ;)
-
Well, having some confirmed interest could help speed up things of course. ;)
here I am! :D
I'd like to know how much (roughly) I would spend buying the 8 goblin + various weapons sprues + command group + hero (heroes? ;D) + halfling heads. I see 8 dwarfs cost 19 pounds: if the price for the goblins is similar you can trust on my interest since now. :)
Ok, more a little warband than a halfling army but I think is better than nothing.
And, if I can say what I think about halfling heads...a mix of helmets, hats and bare heads as for the gobs would be fantastic :-*
-
Well, the goblin infantry are up for sale now, so you can see their price: http://whiteknightminiatureimperium.blogspot.com/2011/12/getting-some-goblin-core-infantry.html (http://whiteknightminiatureimperium.blogspot.com/2011/12/getting-some-goblin-core-infantry.html)
Once the halfling heads are ready, I will likely offer both the option to buy them separately as to swap out the goblin heads in the packs for them (so a pack of halflings would cost the same as a pack of goblins).
The idea is indeed to have a mix of heads (bare, helmets and hats), probably using the goblin helmets and hats as a conversion base.

I've seen the price. I confirm my interest for 2 packs of halflings (no gobs heads required) and hero/heroes. :D

WK I really like what you are doing and would love to support it.
I would like to place a pre-order, paid in advance for (including postage to Australia)
1 x Hallfing Core Infantry with Spears and Shields 1 (6) (the first stlye)
1 x Halfling Core Infantry with Handguns (6)
1 x Core Infantry with Crossbows (6)
1 x Halfling Command pack
I am not to fussed on the time frame (3-4 months is no issue) as I currently have well over 140 halflings I need to paint up anyway......I would just like to support you with your project and help you to free up some funds.
If you could pm the payment details and I'll pay via paypal.
I also would like to talk to you about advice on getting a halfling character scuptled up as I would mind having a go at commissioning a mini or two.
-
The following are now available:
WKG-03: Goblin Core Infantry Command (3)
WKG-10: Gob de Leon, Captain with Twin Swords (1)
-
Some more upcoming figures, goblin characters now.
The first one is named Gobboprince de Lu, based on his passing resemblance to the 80's version of a famous cooky mascotte. He comes with an elegant sword with decorated hilt and a double barreled pistol option.
Since it takes all sorts, the troops are comforted by this lovely goblin floozy. Or is it just a goblin in drag? Either way, you should be in for a quite a unique/horrifying experience.
Gobbo Cortez is widely known for his stylish facial hair, a rare thing among goblinoids, raising suspicions as to whether it might in fact be a fake. Either way, his two pistols tend to be quite convincing in dealing with tose non-believers.
Finally, 6 new goblin infantry heads with various types of morion-style helmets for those who want some troops to match the Gob de Leon and Gobbo Cortez figures.
-
Shiny :-* like the Cortez-like helmets!
-
Those new trooper heads made your landsknecht goblins lots more interesting (IMO). And think you have convinced me, that I need a small warband of these - thanks >:(
"Prinzenrolle" and Cortez are must haves - totally love the facial hair idea.
And a drag? Hmm! - not 100% sure - but let me see a painted version - before making any final conclusions.
-
Lovely, that pistolero has a look of the Rev too ;D
-
Love Two Pistol McGee!
-
My evil plan to make the goblins more attractive works... ;D
-
As I have mentioned before, they would look great as conquistadors going up against the swamp goblins from four a miniatures :D
-
My evil plan to make the goblins more attractive works... ;D
How can you sleep at night? :D
-
I don't, that's why I have these fashionable dark circles around my eyes...
-
Loverly gobs!!!
-
:-* :-*
as said...I feel now like I need a gobs warband ;D
Great set WK!
-
Right, time for some more new stuff. I hesitated to post these because of the Foundry ones appearing at the same time, but hey. I've received a lot of demand for halfling heads for the goblin bodies, so I caved in and decided to have Kev convert a set of 12 heads to fit on the existing bodies.

Then they needed an upgrade set for the command of course, so enter two more heads for the champion and drummer, a rooster standard and an alternate body for the hornblower arms. Um... yeah, you read that last part right.

Since I haven't had a chance to play around with them yet, Timbor offered to paint up a couple assembled ones to give an idea of what to expect. So here they are:

I wouldn't worry about the Foundry ones, mate, these are much cooler 8) 8)
-
They're really not in direct competition. The Foundry ones are characters, civilians and militia. These will be solid rank and file for building units.
-
These are awesome!!!! :o
-
Finally I get to tell folks about these! :D
They were a blast to paint up, and the heads are loaded with character. My favourites are the ones with no hat or helmet.
-
Excellent Work Timbor!!! they look fantastic!
Cheers,
Blue

These are wondeful, WK!
Timbor has done a great job with them and really sold them.
It must have shown on my face, either that or I was mumbling aloud, as my Missus just looked and said: 'Dont tell me, more little men that you NEED?'
If only she knew just how accurate that question was....
;D
-
Want these - and as it's my birthday next week it's perfect timing. Just wrap them up and I'll pretend I didn't know :D
Jokes aside, when will Pete have these ready for us?
And just between you and me .... :) wasn't there something else you wanted to show - something magic ?? ;)
-
I DON"T LIKE THEM!!!!
-
I LOVE THEM!!!!
Despite having well over 100 halflings left to paint I will still be putting in an order for at least 20 of these to start with.
These are dream for anyone wanting to put together a mass force of halflings with some many options on offer.
I hope these sell really well for you.
-
OK those halflings are really testing my mettle!
TEMPTING!
Bastards!
-
My goodness!!! Lovely stuff :-* :-* :-*

Great. The gobbo's haven't received a lot of love, so hopefully this will change that.

Mine as well, it's where the character in the faces really shines. You can see on a couple that Kev had a bit of a hard time to make the transition from sculpting goblin heads with the first ones, hence a couple "naughty" looking ones, but after that he really got into it.
I hope these sell really well for you.
I hope they sell too as that will decide whether the goblin/halfling range gets expanded further or not.

They should be ready around the end of the month. As for that other question, this weekend, after I've had a chance to edit some pictures of them.

Yeah I noticed that as a few were looking rather gobliney/evil/naughty which adds some variety to cheeky looking halflings instead of the usual fat and happy looking bludgers you have on the market thus far.
-
My weekend has started and the bottle of red wine is still half full, so where is my magical update .... ? :D
-
Last group of new sculpts that will be included in the upcoming late August/early September release are the goblin clerics and wizards, by Kev Adams.
I'll start with the Clerics of Gob (aka "Gob the Almighty" or "The Great Gobbo In The Sky"). Clerics of Gob go into battle wearing light armour and wielding enchanted battlehammers or flaming swords. You could of course use these as armoured wizards and substitute the weapons for those from the wizard sprues.

Then there are the wizards themselves. These come with three body variants, 4 goblin wizard heads and a load of left and right hand options.
The heads are: "pointy wizard hat"-head, "pointy hat and fake beard"-head, "My head is on fire and I'm totally cool with it"-head and "I'm wearing this skullcap and spectacles to look smarter-head.
Right hand weapon options include: "gnarly wood"-staff, curved sword, comical wand and flaming sword.
Left hand options include: "moon emblem"-staff, flaming sword and mystical hammer.

And for those who don't like the idea of goblin wizards, there's a set of alternate heads to turn these into halflings:

Some random assembled examples (obviously some heads work better with some bodies, but there are enough options here to give some nice variety):

I can see these being VERY popular!
-
That bottle is long gone - probably better go get another one, cause this is going to take long getting through all of them.

I think I might just have found my Simon The Sorcerer. :D
