Looks great.  I may try out your plans and have a go at the barracks huts myself.

Is there is special reason for using cork or do you just have a huge stash of it?  I've noticed you use if for lots of projects.

I use it because I find it the best material to work with.

Fair enough.  I didn't know if it had some special property I'm not aware of, cheapness, good texture, strong, or something else.

Cheap in quantity, durable, easy to paint, trivial to cut, easy to assemble.

Great work, Matakishi. You build faster than some general contractors!

Great looking buildings. You make it look so easy. It's like they almost build themselves.

Little did the cork industry realize they would get a .001% boost in profits solely by Matakishi showing off his great buildings to wargamers. Maybe you should try and get a sponsorship.

@ Pete - Any idea where to track down the thicker grade cork tiles in the States?  Do you have a local big box store?

The big boxes may not stock it, and there's a trick here. You want fine-particle cork tile, which tends to be sold in thin sheets, rather than the large-particle cork which is sold in slabs. A good craft store (check fabric shops, too) might have some. It's most commonly sold in 1' by 1' tiles about a quarter inch thick.

Getting the right kind of cork in the USA is a real problem it seems. I may have to look into the cost of shipping small quantities over to people who want some.

Now the base is not so "secret" anymore ... but I promisse I won't tell a thing to any lead person!

it looks really great! :)

speaking of cork ... a friend of mine also uses loads of the stuff in his modeling, obtaining of course great results...

and Since I'm from Portugal, here the stuff literally grows on trees :D

To each his own, I guess.

If I lived in Sweden, ALL pretty girls would be naked!

*looks out the window*

As I suspected it doesn't quite happen that way.

Now this I'm going to try. Especially since I have some of those cork tiles already.  :)

I will.

I'm already starting to think about it, I have some old WW2-era German coins. I will see if I can make a mould from putty and "pressmould" the german eagle to further decorate the buildings.

Those are the Monolith ones. Nick sold out of them about a year ago - No idea why they are still on the North Star site
