A mate of mine and I played another game of Brother against brother yesterday. We had great fun. In the end the unionists left the field to the confederates. Miniatures are from General Lee's collection. Since we didn't have any other corn fields at hand, my A'stan ones were used. (Not really Old West, but this seemed to be the best place to put it)

Those yanks never stood a chance, although those Zouves look so fine they should have been getting a least a couple dice worth of modifiers on their behalf.

All Perry's indeed.
I had hoped to profit from the 4th confederate unit taking a long time to get to the fighting, giving me the chance to outnumber the others. But they picked up quite a pace (moving 18", 19" and 19" consequetively on 2d10 movement :o). Also the unit on the road got a 'charge!'-reaction when it was fired upon, so it dashed towards the enemy and got way out of position. But all in all a very enjoyable game 8)

Very nicely painted miniatures and that looked like a luvely game!
Would`ve added a bit of extra `saucing` to the report though if the units had some more striking (not necessarily correct mind you) names like 17th Ohio and the likes instead of just Unit A, Unit B etc.
But if it`s a batrep from the One True Period, it`s aye okay in my book :D

Excellent report and great looking game and miniatures!
Brother Against Brother is probably the game I play the most, but in 15mm. Simple, enjoyable and I've found it a great way to introduce the younger and some older members to historical type gaming. We have a WW2 variant that was around a few years ago, but are yet to try it out.

thebinmann, if you're playing against me then games only last a short while :D The last couple of games I've played, with new players, lasted about an hour to an hour and a half. I use about four or five units a side.

True, good point, I'll keep that in mind for a next report :)
@thebinmann: this game took under 2 hours I guess. BaB plays quite fast, especially the first few turns. Later on it tends to slow down a bit, because units can become quite small through casualties suffered and their effectiveness goes down a lot. I've been thinking of using a general morale check to remedy this. Something like: 'If more then half your units are out of action, either through sustaining casualties or fleeing the field, at the start of the turn take a morale check. Roll 1d10, add +1 for each friendly unit on the field that is above half strenght, needing a 6+ for your force to stay in the field another turn.' I just thought it up yesterday, so it might need some more thought and testing :)
@Barry S: thanks. BaB certainly is a great game to introduce new players, it's easy to learn and very enjoyable to play! Your table and miniatures look great! Some AAR's would be much appreciated :D I'll bookmark it for future inspiration and ideas. Cheers!

Infantry and cavalry are 10 men per unit. For an interesting game I think three units and one officer is the minimum, so that's 31 figs. Luckily the Perry box contains 36 8) Although more units make for a more interesting game offcourse.

You need to paint some of those rebel dogs trussed up on gallows with nice short nooses, now that would be a fine sight! :D

Great looking game. I like the scenery you used for the layout too.
It's great seeing Brother Against Brother still being used. I worked on the initial rulebook and always enjoyed the game. We got a lot of criticisms over the years but we still always had agreat reactions with the rules at conventions.
