Hello,
For quite some time I'd wanted to make a nurgle army with the GW miniatures (besides liking the look of it I also blame the professor's nurgle miniatures which I must admit are one of the best paintings around), but for fantasy battles I usually like to use non-GW miniatures and I must admit I avoid them as much as possible mainly due to cost and secondly to use my imagination as much as possible, instead of going with the flow.
But in last December I participated in a 40K tournament with a loaned army, it was fun but I enjoy most the painting part of the hobby, so I really had to do something, but didn't know what!
The problem with 40K is that is quite difficult to have miniatures from other ranges, although not impossible, and to have that dark-future-and-a-thousand-skulls look, so I really had to go to GW miniatures. But I really wanted to make something different, so I went to the old realms of chaos books for inspiration and liked the idea of using beastmen, which is something you don't usually see in 40K games unfortunately. I really couldn't afford buying beastmen and space marines in order to use just half of the boxes, so I've also bought some Forgeworld nurgle renegade torsos in order to use as much as possible of the boxes....
so... the renegade marine beastmen are composed of beastmen legs and heads and space marine torsos and guns, add a little greenstuff for patching up some details and voilá!

all and all the minis are quite fun to paint but that really have too much unnecessary detail, which makes the task a little bit more time consuming, there is a particular chap on that group that has 10 skulls on it :o . Also I've painted the banner with a drawing from the realms of chaos books which I really appreciate
the next units will also be nurgle renegades, a nurgle daemon, a plague assault gun, followed by some nurgle trolls and ogres which I'm still waiting for them! I'll also complete the army with a slanesh mini force comprised of copplestone rockers, bikini girls with guns and an Andrea miniatures Daemon girl with wings!
The Army name will be Cripple bastards, and for the names of the units I'll use some gore-grind bands names, which is the second inspiration for the army theme
Hope you enjoy them! :)

Very nice!
Like the combination of Forgeworld and the Chaos Beastmen
-
Excellent stuff!
-
Those are sweet MB!
-
Nice work, but... wow... "cripple", eh? There's a word you don't hear much these days.
-
I too have to admit I love the combination and the paint job is indeed very well done!
-
thanks for the feedback!
regarding the name... blame it on the italians! http://www.myspace.com/cripplebastards
(crust bands never have been too much polite)
PS: sorry about the pictures... my wife later noticed that the camera lens where dirty! I really need to take better photos :?
-
I was gonna say, Cripple Bastards are an awesome band.
What's up next, 'Gorerotted' and 'Anal Blast' lol
I can't stand gore-grind, more into just normal Grindcore...
-
Nice job on those! I like the use of the different parts.
-
sorry for the gravedigging! and thanks for the kind comments! :)

Love the orange blend on the DP very nice and goes well with the green.
-
Very nice looking work. The combined War Band looks absolutely great. I agree with Vyper that the Orange on the Dp is perfect since it helps him stand out and brings in the colors on the Banner.

Absolutely fantastic. I really like them!
-
Lets have an armour colour palette breakdown please, nice flat and dirgy finish there. ;)
-
Great Plague Marines there mate, I especially like the use of the Beastmen parts.
-
Not my thing (well, you know, Games Workshop... ) but that's some very smart paintwork. Well done :)

it's not mine, also! or else I would lower the miniature prices :D
actually I'm also not that much into GW minis... but I've always wanted a nurgle army ... blame it on the professor!
and I must admit that these minis were quite fun to paint... they have too much needless details, but they are fun to paint :)
thanks again for all your comments!

I'm not a huge fan of 40k, but there's just something special about Palguemarines! These are fantastic, too. The use of Beastmen parts is a great idea.

So, what colours did you use?
-
nothing fancy really, just valejo colours and kolinsky brushes
the armour was russian green with wattered down black on top... then highlight it first with russian green, then with russian green mixed with khaki (if I'm not mistaken) and then finaly the previous mix with some pea green
the orange is the most easy one... start with flat brown, then red, then orange then orange with a little bit of yellow
the rust was in most of the cases just steepled (hope the name is the right one) german black camo brown, then flat brown, then orange brown then orange... in some cases I've added the darker tones in the end and also some kakhi... then I thinned down some black and aplied it carefully to the deeper areas of the armour so that I could pick up the details
most of the times I let the several layers dry, so really no fancy blendings ...that's too much technique for the likes of me :)
just following Mr Dallimore's (gawd bless'im) way of painting :D

Meninobesta, you've finally answered my question, 'what am I going to do with all these Beastmen bits I've got?' Thank you!
They look wonderful, and I got a huge laugh out of the name of your Demon Prince. :D
