Title: Star Wars, anyone still gaming it?
Post by: Smokeyrone on July 26, 2011, 03:08:14 AM
I am.  Doing new Tatooine terrain, acquiring more figures (WOTC), etc.

Converting TSATF rules (not entirely happy with any SW rules I've seen yet).

My scenarios will take place soon after the death of the Emperor, with a a Tusken Raider Jihad led by a "mahdi" if you will, and various factions allied and adversarial, fighting the Tusken hordes, and eacother.

Completing a "Rorkes Drift" outpost  now. A small band of Tatooine citizens, stormtroopers, Rebel Alliance troops, aliens, Jawas, etc are besieged by a horde of Sand People, and have to defend makeshift barricades and buildings until help arrives.

What about anyone else?  Did the WOTC SW line's demise zsour you on Star Wars gaming?

I see some new 15mm sculpts, excellent ones, so maybe a new scale?  (will take a LOT more figures to be viable, IMO)

The kids and I still have a bunch of WOTC figs.  We still play with their rules, only we use a tape measure rather than maps with squares for movement.

Another project that I need to get out again and play. Good ideas. Thanks for inspiring me to start playing again. My wife, son and I played an awesome speeder bike game at Historicon a few weeks back and had a blast!!

My Tatootine buildings have not progressed any further since Christmas :(

Rich Jones over on the Crooked Dice Forum has been statting up some of the core characters using our action:engine rules (used in 7TV). He's got a battle report there too.

A few years back when me and my brother stumbled across our first comic book shops we came across the WOTC Star Wars line and we went ballistic buying as much as possible. The minis are still lying around my room somewhere but I've never gamed with them.

Your terrain sounds lovely and I would love to see a few pictures of your games.

I still like to get out my stormtroopers and rebels and let them have at each other once in a while.  I think I may have to stat up some units for Tomorrow's War when it comes out.

I've used various THW sets and have but have not played the West End  Games rules.

My project is still bubbling, slowly along, but have been engrossed in all things Halo of late. Will get to a painted number of troops soon to allow a small skirmish/boarding action.

Yep, but I use the FUBAR rules now. Much better system.

The FUBAR Star Wars force lists have proved very popular indeed. Some of our guys have even created a whole set of unit cards in full colour for them.

Cheers,
Craig.

Yep, tooling up for a 15mm run at it with Savage Worlds.

If you are doing 15mm scale, try to find the Micromachine figures. I have a bunch and the go really nicely with most of my metal 15mm stuff. They are supposed to be HO/18mm. A little taller and thinner than 15mm metal figures, but mix well.

Actually I am far cheeper than that, my plan is to figure out suitable figures from what exists and scratch build vehicles and such.

The premise is more along the lines of Post Alliance/Empire war with lots more destruction. Or really Post-Apocalyptic Star Wars (not that is some ways Star Wars doesn't have that feel or at least the movies do).
