I recently painted up 12 Blue moon timber wolves for my campaign. I need 8 more! I'd rather find some different and affordable models that would work with the ones I have. the meaner, cheaper, and scarier looking the better. (I don't like GW's dire wolves already checked those out :x )
Any suggestions?

you should look at Copplestone 10mm giant wolves. IMHO they would fit perfect

What's wrong with the dire wolves? Any pics?
I like the Westwind ones.

To be honest I think the WW ones have more teeth than fur. Having painted about 50 wolves of various brands I have to say the best looking one I have put a brush to myself is Ral Partha. The best one I have seen on picture is this one by the great Tom Meyer:

But it is, alas, not available yet

10mm giant wolves would fit with Blue Moons 28mm's?
Gw's dire wolves snouts are too blockish (and the price is really hideous!)
see for yourselves.. .

That green is a damn fine wolf. Why'd you have to tease me with it :(
what others would you recomment Hammershield?

The reaper ones are nice, but are a little small to match the Blue Moon ones. My 2 cents.

I'd thought about GW's direwolves, but having seen them in use, their heads seem far too big [and the teeth, as Grimm says]. Oh and they are of course massively over-priced :(
The Tom Meyer wolf looks absolutely perfect.
I will be ordering a pack of those! :D
Cheers,

I aqgree with Mike about the Westwind ones. Yes they are snarly big teethed wolves, but thats what I want mine to looklike. I don't really want a figure that looks like it wants to roll over and let you stroke its tummy

Have to agree with you Malamute, the Evil Empire seems to be producing some really cartoon-like stuff these days. I suspect the term "dire" actually refers to the quality of the sculpt....

The wolf I refered to is from Tom Meier's blog on Thunderbolt Mountain. since the man has so many commission projects his own releases under that brand are quite erratic. Another problem with his miniatures is that they are simply too good. They don't go to well with other wargaming minis becuase of their incredible high level of detail and natural proportions. I don't effing know how he does it, it's like he is 3d scanning livr models...

Here's a Reaper Direwolf, it may be a bit too big for your purposes. It is big and scary looking though.

wow, that Ral partha looks great, I have had trouble myself with the GW wolves being too goofy and now the new dire wolves not really looking like wolves it's nice to see a high quality alternative! I will have to track that down, maybe they made a pack of them!
