Totally loving A Game of Thrones at the moment so I thought I'd try doing something a little related
Just a quick shot of a conversion that I did. Minas Tirith Body, Uruk Hai head, Roman shield and a bit of converting.
This is probably just going to be a one off but I just wanted to see how easy it is to do

The paintjob is probably a bit bright but I like to exaggerate with colours anyway.

Good call for the proxy parts, and well done on the conversions - how did you remove the original shield properly?
A bit of green stuff to extend the ridge, and to build up between the eyes, could have gone even further to make it match, but if you are not going to do more, never mind - it's a nice 'captain of the guard' og hero model for something, anyway. :)

Are those some lost Uruk-hai in the background of screenshot?

Damn! Now I am trying to figuer out who to make my men of Rohan into men at arms for the house of Stark.

A really nice conversion there. Turns it into something almost unrecognisable from the original donors (and that's coming from someone who had to stare at these every weekend for two years, hint hint).
I would actually like to see some more along the same lines.

I just hacked away the original shield, it's a plastic mini so it was fairly easy to do. I left the hand and detail and just cut away and filed the excess.
It was pretty straight forward, the helmet was a bit of a pain, I used plasticard to extend the helmet 'fin' thing and that in all honesty was the longest and hardest part of the job. The hardest bit was getting it to the right shape without the stuff snapping and splitting. I might try a few more who knows, I'll try and find a more efficient/easier method of helmet construction.
My brother has actually been similarly inspired and is currently using Perry WOTR plastics to make a few men of the Nights Watch. I'll try and persuade him to get some shots up.

I agree. It's an excellent conversion, but the helmet does still look a bit too Uruk Hai-like for my taste. Making separate eye-holes should help change the look.

Tbh I didn't even notice the eye holes until you guys pointed it out, I think I might have a go at sorting that out. My main focus was on the top of the helmet. Will have a go at it. I think I might try a few more now tbh as I have a full sprue of Minas Tirith men, who knows how long my motivation will hold though, probably until something new and shiny comes along.

Sorry about the volume of pictures, I hope that you like them. Like I said they are meant to represent members of the Night's Watch. They are based on Perry WOTR miniatures with a bit of greenstuff and some LOTR plastic bits too I think. My brother also frequents here so I'm sure if there are any further C&C or questions he'll be happy to answer them,

Inspired bit of kit bashing there. I have a load of poorly painted LOTR plastics collected via ebay over the years from numerous lots, but be life in the old plastic yet!

I am reading the books at the moment just finished no.2 and started no. 3,
I was only thinking about miniatures for the charactyers and various houses.
You have done a great job :D
so perry war of the roses and gw lord of the rings figures match decently then?

Plastics should match up pretty well I guess. I think the Perry's sculpted a whole load of the GW stuff so I imagine they'll be compatible.

I've just finished reading the latest GOT installment, 'A Dance With Dragons'. I've read the whole series, start to finish, in about 3 months. Most enjoyable, although they do slow down a bit in the later volumes... Apparently, it's likely to be several years before the author finally coughs up the next installment (the penultimate book, I believe) if he lasts that long ::)
Didn't see the HBO adaptation, but from the stills and trailers I did see, it didn't really accord with my mental image of the kind of High Medieval culture described in the books - a bit too influenced by the Lord of The Rings grungy look, I fear...
Anyway. Keep up the good work, and keep sharing the pics! :)

WOW!!
I am a sucker for conversion work when done well, and you sir have done well...very well indeed. I am currently converting a number of Warlord Celtic warriors using bits and pieces from LOTR figures and Wargames factory figures. I know many people don't like plastic figures, and I was initially one of them, but now, I am addicted to them and the ability to convert them using parts from other figure lines.

I'm with Hitman. I've had tremendous fun converting plastics and getting the old green stuff working - adding cowls and cloaks and fur. Currently finishing off the sculpts on 16 Thenn converted from Warlord Celts and Gripping Beast/Warlord Vikings.

Revisiting this thread and seeing how the Perry WOTR minis can be so readily converted to Night's Watch I'm thinking I may need yet another box of Perry infantry to boost my Night's Watch numbers!

You'll be lucky... This project died a death shortly after. Not sure if my brother carried on but for me it was more of a 'can I do this' rather than 'lets do an army of this'.
It's nice to see this pop up again from the depths of time, I'd forgotten all about it!

I found that I preferred converting them to painting them after a couple. I have a lot of plastic projects that died similarly
