Title: Empire Ogre - Old School with new colours
Post by: G2 on September 19, 2011, 02:59:13 PM
Hi all. This is the latest mini from my paint table. It's an old-school GW sculpt, but I decided to use some NOT so old-school colours.

Note: I tried a new technique with the white, but it didn't really work out how I thought it would, basically the shadows are too dark.

Lovely paint job!  :o

Seems strange saying this about an ogre but he's....beautiful.

He is VERY pretty! :-*

Excellent model (especially when one think's of GWs more recent Ogre incarnations... :?) and equally excellent brush-work.  No one's going to call him a 'poofter' for wearing pink, are they?

Unexpected choice of colours, wrong on so many levels but it works, he looks just like an ogre on the way to a date :)

Love that miniature.  Veeeery interesting color choice.  But only a bigger ogre would comment on it of course!

Lovely paint job.

I love it!

It reminds of my old gaming groups habit (in the late 80’s and early 90’s), of painting many a miniature with Bilious Green and Titillating Pink clothes. Ah those were the days  :)

Hey Blue

Thanks for that. The funny thing, is I tried to copy your technique in painting white. I looked long and hard at your empire stuff, and I remember you posted somewhere that you use many consecutive lighter shades to get get your minis looking so good. So I tried this on my white. I am not entirely happy with it, but it is a better white than what I have managed to do in the past. So thanks.

I will keep trying the white, until I get it as nice as yours.  :D

Just love this guy...and your PJ is  ;D ;D

Cheers,

Blue

That's surely a miniature only a "mother could love" ;) The choice of colours is .... interesting...in a "what have you been taking" kind of way - but painted to a very high standard. Another spectacular PJ, G2.

It takes a tough Ogre to get away with wearing pink...could account for most of his scar tissue. That aside, VERY WELL DONE!

I think this is a beutiful miniature, and the choice of colours are not that far off. Consider the fact that the original warhammer old world concept derives from the 1500 germany (Holy Roman Empire), and they where not strangers to colours that we might seem odd in modern day society. With that in mind I think the colours are great, well I would anyway.
