Hmm.
Very nice detail on the facings, stirrup guards etc.
Bit on the stubby side anatomy-wise. And those horses look way too small for the riders...
But I can see these coming to a game of smugglers near you, some time soon!

Yes Martin Bakers sculpting has developed leaps and bounds, he has his own style which is a little on the chunky side but recent work shows his talent (he sculpts the geezers too) and the faces are fantastic

Nice figs, but I agree with Captain Blood, those horsies are waaay too small.

The actual dragoons have a nice "punchy" quality about them, serious looking fellas.  :)

Yes the horses are a little thin and short in stature I will probably swap them out, though they dont look so dramatically undersized in real life compared to the photo

Having now painted 100's of Chinese/Mongols from Curteys, 60 Aztecs from Outpost and a couple of Sci-fi pieces from somewhere else I can definately say Martin Bakers sculpts are a joy to paint.

Some of his faces are up there with the best there is - yes he has a distinct style that seems to be loathed by many but thats their loss.

This Highwaymen range is updating nicely and I think it will only be a matter of time before I have to ordere some

DH Nut, what are you using your Aztecs for? My favourite period at the moment

Hi Karl, thanks for showing us this range. I think these guys would look good as my Government dragoons against my FR Jacobite Army. What do you think?

Appreciate your thoughts on this.

Best Wishes :)

Marvelous models. I will have to get fistfuls of them. Dragoons are tremendously useful bad-guy goons to have!

Likewise sentiments on the development of Martin Baker, though even his old stuff has character to spare.

They are just sitting in the cabinet looking pretty. I bought them as a break from my Orientals and because I fancied painting them.

Yes, they are great for all kinds of stuff - chasing highwaymen, rooting out smugglers, rounding up errant highlanders.

I'd love some but will have to resist, as I need more Darkest Africa stuff, let alone my latest venture into Samurai, with the very exciting Kashinden rules.

Best not get started on Back of Beyond.....

They certainly fit the time period for the .45 I dont have the earlier ranges form FR, they tended to be a little smaller than more recent poses form them? but not by much I would have thoguht

thank you kindly

I did also have it in mind that if my adventurers ever went searching for the treasures of Montezuma these guys would be more likely to pop up and get in the way than say some African Pygmies
